Chapter Fifty Six

-Julie-

“So Josh, you’re gunna be playing hockey just like Sidney?” dad asked Josh as he looked into the backseat from the passenger seat.

“Yup, I start camp when we go back to Pittsburgh!” he said happily and I smiled brightly, “Daddy’s been showing me how to play for a while now.”

“He has, has he?” dad said and then smiled towards me, “I bet you have a good time with him.”

“Yeah! Right daddy!” Josh said and Sidney ruffled his hair and I smiled towards him.

We were heading home today, two weeks came and went like that and I was happy to be heading home, but sad because I was leaving my family. My parents were driving us to the airport, and we had to get there at least two hours early because we needed to check Sasha in.

We arrived at the airport and Sidney walked up to the desk and handled everything that needed to be handled while I stood next to my parents and listened to them go on about how much they were going to miss us.

“I’m so happy you came to visit! You need to come down soon!”

“Maybe you could come up too,” I smiled and watched my parents nod their heads.

“We’ll see money wise if we can,” mom said and I smiled brightly.

“All right, we’re all good to go, they’re going to send someone to come and get Sasha,” Sidney said as he walked over towards us and placed his hand around my shoulder and kissed my head.

“You two are so cute together,” mom said and I blushed and heard Sidney laugh.

Josh sat on the floor and opened Sasha’s cage and started to pet her head. He made sure not to let her out, but I had no objections to just petting her, it was keeping him busy as we waited.

The man that was going to take Sasha showed up and Josh kissed her head and then closed the cage, “We’ll see you in a few hours girl!”

“Bye Sasha,” I said and waved to her as I bent down next to Josh and kissed his cheek, “You ready to go?”

“Yeah,” he said and then picked up his cars backpack and I placed it on his back.

“Say bye to gram and pop,” I said and he walked over towards my mom and dad.

“Oh, Joshy, I hope you have fun while you were here! Thank you for spending your birthday with us!” mom cooed and I smiled and looked up towards Sidney.

Josh’s eighth birthday was a few days ago and we had a little birthday party for him with my family. He mostly got money, because none of them really knew him well and because we were going to be going home in a plane, and with the whole weight limit thing. When we got back, and when everyone finally came back into town, we were going to have a barbeque at Sidney’s house and all of the players were going to be coming over and bringing their kids. I was happy with my life in Pennsylvania, I was happy in Pittsburgh.

“It was good seeing you again, baby,” mom said as she hugged me and kissed my cheek, “I love you.”

“Love you too mom, I’ll call you when we land in Pittsburgh.”

“All right,” she said as she let go of me and worked her way over towards Sidney, while I moved towards my dad, “Daddy.”

“Baby doll,” he smiled and then held out his arms and I hugged him, “I’m proud of you, Julie. You’ve come so far, so many things have happened to you. You’re a brave young woman, and I’m so happy that you’ve found a life.”

“Thank you, daddy,” I said and then kissed his cheek and hugged him one more time, “I love you, I’ll be in touch.”

“Love you too!” he said and then looked over towards Sidney, “Sid, my man, you take care of my little girl and grandson!” dad said as he shook Sidney’s hand and then hugged him.

“I will sir.”

“Good man! Have a good flight.”

“Thank you,” Sidney said and then laced his fingers with mine and I grabbed Josh’s hand and we headed towards the security section.

-Sidney-

“I had so much fun here mommy,” Josh said as we sat at our gate and Julie smiled.

“You did?”

“Yeah! Can we come back here again?”

“You know, little man, your gram and pop might be coming up and visiting us,” I smiled and Josh’s face lit up.

“Really?!”

“Yup.”

“I can show them all of my toys! And show them Conner and Bow! I miss Conner!” he said and I laughed and watched as Julie ran her hand over his head.

“I know you do buddy, but you’ll see him in about two days,” Julie said and Josh smile and nodded his head.

After waiting for about an hour, Josh had sat on my lap and ended up falling asleep and Julie was reading a book. Our gate number was finally called and we were going to start boarding the plane. We sat in first class, even though Julie didn’t want to, but I couldn’t help but spoil her.

Once we were all situated, the plane took off and we were on our way to Chicago to get to our connecting flight.

“Ugh, finally we’re home!” Sidney said and I laughed and nodded my head, “I can’t believe our flight was delayed three hours!”

“I know,” I said as Sidney sat on the couch and laid his head back. I smiled and walked up behind him and ran my fingers through his hair, “But we’re finally home.”

“Thank god,” he said and I smiled and then pressed my lips against his, “I like your family, they’re funny.”

“I like yours too.”

“Mine’s just weird,” Sidney said and I laughed and shook my head, “Hey.”

“Hmm,” I said as I looked back at him, because I had started to turn away.

“Have I told you lately that I love you?” he asked and I smiled and nodded my head.

“I love you too,” I said and then pressed my lips against his, “I need to put Josh to bed,” I laughed as I looked at the poor kid to see him on the stairs already asleep.

“How does he just fall asleep like that?” Sidney laughed as he sat up and looked.

“I don’t know.”

“He’s so weird,” he laughed and I shook my head.

“I kind of like him,” I joked and Sidney smiled towards me and then stood up and kissed my cheek.

“I’ll put him upstairs,” he said as he walked passed me and over towards Josh, “Come on, little man!” Sidney said as he picked Josh up and threw him over his shoulder, “Don’t fall asleep on me yet!”

“Dork,” I muttered as I turned around and looked over towards Sasha, who was still waiting patiently in her cage, “Do you wanna come out?” I asked and she started to jump around and whine, “I guess so, come on!”

-Sidney-

“Daddy.”

“Yeah little man,” I smiled as I threw him onto the bed and he laughed.

“Is it gunna hurt when I fall on the ice?” he asked and I chuckled and sat on the bed with him and started to take his sneakers off.

“Well, you’re going to have all that padding on, I mean, it’ll hurt a little bit, but you’re a tough little man, so you’ll just get right back up and skate it off.”

“Skate it off?” he asked and I smiled and nodded my head, “All right! I’ll skate it off!”

“All right,” I said and then kissed his head and walked over towards his drawer and grabbed some of his clothes.

Before we left for Texas, I talked to Julie about possibly moving in with me, since I had the room, and living in this big house could get a little lonely. She was still thinking about it, but she did figure that leaving some clothes here would be all right, since she was over here a lot.

“Hey daddy.”

“Yeah.”

“Am I gunna know anyone?”

“Well, I think Uncle Tyler said that Conner was doing it,” I said and Josh smiled, “And maybe Uncle Pascal’s son Kody too.”

“Really?!” Josh asked and I laughed and nodded my head, “Awesome! We’ll kick butt!”

“That’s the spirit!” I laughed and then threw his pajamas at him and then watched him change.

“I’m tired,” he yawned and I laughed and ruffled his hair.

“That’s the jet lag, get some sleep,” I said and then turned his TV on and then turned the volume on low because that’s how he sleeps, “You coming with me tomorrow for the first day of practice?”

“Yes!” he yelled and I laughed.

“All right, I’ll wake you up in the morning,” I said as I walked over towards the door.

“All right, love you daddy!” Josh said as he climbed underneath the blankets.

“Love you too, buddy!”
