Rescue Me (Sidney Crosby)

Rescue Me (Sidney Crosby) 057:

Chapter Fifty Seven

“Have fun!” Julie said as she kissed Josh’s head and then walked over towards me and pressed her lips onto mine, “Don’t lose him!”

“I’m not gunna lose him!” I laughed and then placed my hand on her hip and pulled her closer to me, “I love you.”

“Love you too,” she said and then pressed her lips onto mine again, “You’d better hurry up before he decides to drive off without you.”

“I have the keys!” I laughed and she shook her head.

“Is the door unlocked?” she asked and I nodded my head, “He’ll try to hotwire it then!”

“Bye,” I said and then kissed her one last time and headed towards the garage and saw Josh crawling into the driver’s seat, “I don’t think so, little man!”

“Awww,” he said and I laughed and grabbed him.

“You’re sitting in the back,” I said and then carried him to the backseat and buckled him down.

“Bye!” Julie yelled from the door.

“Bye mommy!” Josh yelled from his seat and I got into the driver’s seat and honked the horn, “Let’s go, daddy!”

“All right, all right,” I laughed and shook my head, “You impatient just like your mother.”

-Julie-

It was about ten in the morning and Sidney had just left with Josh to go to his first day of training camp. Last night he had called Tyler and asked for him to bring Conner because Josh was going to be there, and apparently Pascal and Cooke were going to bring their sons too.

‘…He should have a good time…’ I thought as I walked into the kitchen and cleaned up my mess from making breakfast this morning.

Just as I finished with the dishes, my phone went off and I saw that it was Vero calling, I smiled and then wiped my hands dry and grabbed my phone from the counter, “Hello.”

“Hey girl, I heard that you’re back in town!”

“Yeah, just got back last night,” I said as I walked over towards the cabinet and grabbed some dog food and threw it in Sasha’s bowl.

“How was your flight?”

“Eh, a little rough, we got delayed in Chicago.”

“Ew,” Vero said and I laughed and then called Sasha into the kitchen so that she could get some food, “So what are you doing today?”

“Well, I was going to go into the shop and check on Mildred, since I haven’t been there all summer.”

“Oh, I still never saw it! Marc’s always talking about it!”

“Would you like to come in with me?” I asked and heard her squeal.

“Yes!” she said and I laughed, “Wait, are you not there?”

“No, I’m at Sid’s.”

“Oh, should have guessed that!” she laughed and I smirked, “Should I come pick you up? We can go shopping and go for some lunch after?”

“Sure.”

“Josh too?”

“Josh went to training camp with Sid today.”

“Oh that’s exciting, I know Marc loves the little guy,” Vero said and I laughed and then started to look around the house because Sasha didn’t come into the kitchen, “Everything all right?”

“Yeah, I’m just trying to find Sasha.”

“Who?”

“The dog.”

“Oh,” Vero laughed and I sighed, “You want some help?”

“Naw, not yet- Wow, I’m an idiot.”

“Why?” Vero asked and I laughed seeing poor Sasha still locked outside.

“I forgot I put her outside this morning, and I never brought her back in,” I laughed and walked over towards the back door and opened it, “Hi girl, I’m so sorry. Go eat.”

“You goof,” Vero said and I laughed, “So I’ll see you in a few.”

“Yup.”

“All right, bye.”

“Bye,” I said and then hung up the phone and placed it on the counter, plugging it into its charger.

Vero was going to be here soon so I needed to hurry and get changed out of my sweats and Penguins t-shirt, but as I was about to head up the stairs, the door bell rang and I looked at it confused.

“She here already?” I asked and then walked down the step and over towards the door. I peeked through the window and saw two guys standing there and took a deep breath, ‘…This is such a bad idea…’ I thought as I opened the door slightly and looked at the two big guys, “Uh, hello.”

“Who are you?” the guys asked rudely and I was a little taken back.

“Uh, you’re the one standing on the front porch, that’s my job to ask you,” I barked back and then watched him smirk, ‘…Shouldn’t of answered the door, Julie. You’re such an idiot. Hurry up Vero…’

“We’re looking for Cass,” the guy said and I looked at him strangely.

“There’s no one named Cass that lives here,” I said and then heard Sasha come up behind me and I grabbed her collar.

“The paper says that he does,” the guy said and I looked at him and then saw a black man walking up the driveway.

“Well sorry, but your paper is wrong,” I said and tried to close the door, but he slammed his hand on it, stopping me, “You don’t leave my property, I’m gunna call the cops!”

“Oooo, white girl getting’ freaky,” the guy said and I glared.

A car pulled into the driveway and I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw it to be Vero. She hurried out of the car and walked over towards the door staring at the men confused.

“Can I help you boys?”

“We’re looking for Cass, the bitch here won’t bring him out!” the guy said and I shook my head.

“Bitch? I know you’re not talking about my friend here,” she growled and I smirked, “Listen here you disgusting druggie, you’re in the wrong housing district, so take your little drug buddies and get the hell out of here!”

‘…Vero, calm the hell down, there are three big guys here…’ I thought as my eyes widened at the sight of this tiny girl yelling at three big guys. Sasha started to bark at the guys and I held her collar and bent down when she started to growl, “Get out of here and don’t come back. There’s no Cass that lives here, and if you come back again I’ll sick my dog on you and call the cops.”

“Get moving!” Vero yelled and the three guys started to walk away, “Bâtards fous »pensent qu'ils peuvent me répondre. Je vais mâcher leurs têtes de réduction!” (Crazy bastards’ thing they can talk back to me! I’ll chew their heads off!) she muttered as she walked into the house and kissed my cheek, “Bonjour mon cher, comment vas-tu? Pas même de retour 24 heures et vous êtes déjà entouré de théâtre,” (Hello my dear, how are you ? Not even back twenty four hours and you’re already surrounded with drama)

“Bonjour Vero, ma vie est entourée de drame. Je me sens comme je veux vivre sous un rocher,” (Helo Vero, my life is surrounded with drama. I feel like I want to live under a rock) I said as I closed the door behind her and locked it, “I need to get dressed.”

“I was wondering what you were going to do,” she laughed and I nudged my head for her to follow me.

I was walking up the stairs and then felt a jolt of pain through my thigh, where I was shot a few months ago. I hissed and then sat on the step and rubbed my thigh, “Damn.”

“Are you all right?” Vero asked as she stood in front of me and looked at me wide eyed, “Should I call-“

“No, no, I’m fine, it happens sometimes,” I said and then sighed, “It’ll pass.”

“Are you sure? You should go see a doctor,” she said and I shook my head.

“Too many questions,” I said and then sighed, “I think it’s because it healed improperly or something.”

“Maybe, but I thought the boys’ doctor cleaned it up pretty nicely.”

“Yeah he did, but I don’t know. It doesn’t hurt all the time, but if I put too much pressure on it, it hurts,” I said and then sighed, “It hurt a lot in Texas because I was running around with the kids.”

“Oh, I’m sorry, sweetie.”

“It’s not your fault,” I said and then sighed and stood up, “See, all good.”

“You sure?” Vero asked and I nodded my head and then finished up the stairs and walked into Sidney and my room.

“Sorry about the mess, we’re trying to unpack and get the laundry finished.”

“Oh no, it’s all right, I understand,” Vero said and then walked over towards the bed and sat on the edge, “So are you going to move in with Sidney?”

“I don’t know, he asked me two weeks ago, but-“

“What’s the ‘but’ for? You and Sidney are perfect for each other, you should do it,” Vero said and I laughed and dug through my clothes.

“I’m still thinking, but I was already leaning towards yes.”
