Chapter Fifty Nine

"Happy Halloween!" James yelled crouched down in front of Josh and tried to scare him.

"Uncle James, you're funny," Josh laughed and I smirked and shook my head at Sidney's friend's silliness.

"Oh come on kid, you're not scared?"

"Nope."

"Why?"

"I saw you coming," he said and I looked over towards Vero who was leaning against the counter highly amused.

"Well then turn around, I'll try it again," James said and I laughed and grabbed a water bottle out of the fridge.

"Uncle James," Josh laughed and then I heard him scream.

I turned around and saw that Geno had come into the room and picked Josh up from behind and started to roar like a monster.

Sidney was hosting a Halloween party for all of the player's kids, there were about thirteen kids, Josh and Conner included:

Chris Kunitz had his four year old son, Zachary, who was a Power Ranger and two year old daughter, Payton, who was the sun.

Kris Letang had his one year old son, Alexander, who was a ninja turtle.

Matt Cooke had his ten year old daughter, Reece, who was a witch and seven year old son, Jackson, who was a ninja.

Pascal Dupuis had his nine year old daughter, Maeva, she didn't want to dress up this year, his seven year old son, Kody, who also was a ninja turtle, his five year old daughter, Zoe, who was a princess and his three year old daughter, Lola, who was a lady bug.

Craig Adams had his seven year old son, Rhys, who was Batman and his five year old daughter, Francesca, who was Catwoman.

Allie had brought Conner, who was dressed as Superman.

And then of course, I had Josh, who really wanted to be a zombie hockey player, don't ask me why, because I had no clue where he had come up with that idea, well, at least the zombie part.

The guys were going to stay home and watch some football, since Halloween this year was on a Saturday, while the wives and girlfriends were going to take the kids around the neighborhood to go trick or treating. Meava, Pascal's oldest, didn't feel like going trick or treating this year and decided that she was going to stay with the guys and watch football.

"All right, is everyone ready?" Vero asked and all of the kids gathered around and Carole-Lyne, Pascal's wife, handed out the trick or treating bags.

"Alex, are you ready for some candy?" Catherine, Kris Letang's girlfriend, asked her one year old and he bounced up and down.

"Shouldn't you be asking Kris that?" Tanner Glass teased as he patted Kris' shoulder.

"Shut up," Kris laughed and I smirked.

-Sidney-

All the girls and kids were gone, except for Pascal's Meave, who sat on his lap on the couch as we watched the Saturday night football.

Tyler's girlfriend, Allie, I wasn't too happy about her being here; Letang's girlfriend, Catherine; Kunitz's wife, Mareen; Orpik's wife, Erin; Cooke's wife, Michelle; Dupuis' wife, Carole-Lyne; Glass' wife, Emily; Engelland's wife, Melissa; and Adams' wife, Anne all went out trick or treating with the kids. Some of them didn't have kids, but Carole- Lyne was happy to give one of hers to them.

Josh made sure to hug me before he left, and he ended up wiping some of his zombie make up on my face. He laughed and then ran over towards Julie so that she could fix it.

I was in the kitchen washing my face from Josh's makeup when Tyler walked up next to me and leaned his back against the counter. The relationship between us has been different ever since his girlfriend made a deal with the mob and almost got Julie killed, not to mention made us lose our chance to make it into the playoffs.

"Can we talk?" Tyler asked and I sighed.

This was really the first time that I've hung out with him, other than practice or games. Allie had kept her distance from Julie and I, and I knew that Julie missed her friend, but I was still angry.

"About what?" I asked as I wiped my face.

"You know what," Tyler growled and I looked at him, "Sorry."

"Outside," I said and he nodded his head. We walked out onto the back porch and then rubbed my face, "What do you want Tyler?"

"Look, Allie is sorry, I'm sorry, why-"

"No, you don't get to apologies to me," I snapped and Tyler sighed.

"I already apologized to the team! Allie already apologized to the team! Why won't-"

"I wasn't the one who was shot, I wasn't the one who was tortured," I stepped closer to him and clenched my fists, I was right in his face, "I wasn't the one who was raped."

"Sid-"

"You want to apologize, you apologize to Julie," I hissed and then stepped back, "She's the one who deserves it."

"Problem here, boys," I heard and then turned my head to see Craig Adams standing there.

"No, we're done here-"

"Sid!" Tyler said and I turned around and started to walk inside when Craig put his hand on my chest, stopping me.

"What?" I asked and Craig sighed and closed the door behind him.

"You need to hear him out," he said and I shook my head.

"I'm finished listening, I told him what I thought-"

"You spoke, but you didn't listen," Craig said and then looked at me, "We listened to him, you should too."

"And when was this meeting? Why did I miss it?"

"We had it after practice three weeks ago, you left because you had something with Josh," Tyler answered and I looked at him, "I wanted to apologize to all of you, all at once."

"Tyler, I'm more upset that you sided with your girlfriend, over the team. She's the one who almost got Julie killed-"

"And she apologized about that! She's talking to Julie, probably now! Allie tried before, but you never let her near Julie!" Tyler argued and I glared at him, "Don't look at me like that, Sid! She's tried! I had to sneak her here just so that she could apologize!"

"Doesn't Julie see Allie at the shop?" I asked knowing that if Julie did see Allie, she wouldn't tell me.

"No, Allie doesn't live there anymore, she moved in with me. She's trying to keep her distance from everyone after what happened," he said and I sighed and rubbed my head, "Sid, why can't you-"

"I want to talk to Allie," I said and he looked a little surprised, "Tomorrow after practice, at the coffee shop, you tell her that, just the two of us, or whatever, you come too, I don't care, but I want to talk to her either way."

"All right," Tyler said and I felt Craig's hand on my shoulder.

"Let's go back inside before everyone's wondering where we're at," Craig said and Tyler and I nodded out heads.

-Julie-

"Where have you been?" I asked Allie as we stood in the back of the group, watching as the kids ran from house to house gathering candy.

"I've been hiding out at Tyler's place," she muttered and I sighed and then grabbed her arm, stopping her from walking.

"Why? Why haven't you talked to me? Allie, I'm not angry."

"You should be! I don't know why you're not! You should be furious with me! Lord knows, Sidney is."

"But I'm not," I said, pulling my face in front of hers, "I just want my friend back, Allie."

"Julie," she shook her head, "I almost got you killed, how-"

"I've been 'almost killed' so many times, I'm surprised I'm not immortal," I joked trying to lighten her mood, but seeing that she wasn't taking the bait. I sighed and then rubbed her arm, "Allie, listen to me, it was an accident, you were trying to help me and it ended badly, I'm fine, you're fine, you apologized to the boys, everything is fine. Don't worry about Sidney, I'll talk to him, I'm not angry with you, I just miss you."

"I miss you too, Julie," she said and I hugged her, "I'm so sorry."
