Second Chances

He's Not All Bad

Keirstyn.
“Oh no.” I muttered.
“What’s wrong?” Faith asked confused.
“Did you shit yourself?” Autumn asked
“No.” I glared. “Look but don’t look to your left.”
They all looked to their left at the same time and I wanted to slit my throat, this is exactly why I said look but don’t look.
“Oh!” They all said in unison.
“Beau!” Faith called getting his attention, “Come here.” She waved him over and at that exact moment I was ready to die.
“Tori! It’s great to see you again. Faith, Autumn I saw you cheering for me at the game” He winked. He looked over at me and smirked, “Hello Keirstyn.”
“Hi.” I muttered.
It was like war flashbacks to the day I first met Beau, Sid had invited us to a party at his house and we couldn’t turn down the offer. Victoria had gone back to Ontario to visit her parents and Stephanie was back from Chicago for the weekend so Autumn, Faith, Steph and I went out for some fun.
It didn’t take long for us all to get drunk, all except for the good catholic girl Stephanie. I had met into this cute blonde boy with blue eyes, a few traits I couldn’t resist. We began talking and drinking and by the end of the night we were in a guest bedroom tangled up within the sheets. It was not one of my finest moments.
The next morning I learned who he was and that I was wrong to think I’d never see him again. He was a pens player and I would be forced to remember the memories of that night every time I went to a game. Luckily for me Beau had gotten injured shortly after the party and I haven’t seen him since, well that was until today.
“I haven’t seen you since the party, we should do that again.” He smiled showing off his teeth that could probably rip your head off.
“That was a one time thing!” I protested.
“I’ve heard that before.” He smirked before walking away.
Normally I would have followed him and defended myself but I had nothing to say. I, Keirstyn Maracle had no come back.
“Hey guys. I’ve got good news. It’s a minor coma, Doctor said he should be fine but they’re still going to have to run some tests when he wakes up. “ Sid explained.
After what seemed likes hours of waiting for some news it was so reliving to find out he was going to be okay.
“Isn’t Steph going to be here soon?” I asked looking at the time on my phone.
“Fuck, I almost forgot.” Autumn got up from her seat grabbing Sidney’s arm and dragging him down the hallway with him.
“Faith and I are going to go get something from the cafeteria, do you guy want anything?” Victoria asked the only two other people remaining, me being included.
“No thanks.” Beau and I said at the same time, we looked over at each other and smiled. Stop it Keirstyn.
I watched as the two of the walked down the hallways towards the cafeteria leaving only Beau and I. I rested my head on my hand as I tried to fall asleep, it had been a long night and I was exhausted. I tried to block out the noise of Beau moving around but it was just so distracting.
“Can you stop moving?” I asked politely.
“You know what I don’t understand from our special night together. You were gone before I woke up, usually that’s my job. Was I no good or something? Why’d you leave?”
“No, you were fine; I just didn’t want to deal with the awkwardness that comes after random hooks ups.” I explained as I sat up, he wasn’t going to let me get any sleep.
“Fine? Just fine?” I could tell I hurt his ego. “On a scale of 1-10 how was it?” He asked suddenly very interested in talking about our actions from that night.
“Beau it happened months ago, I didn’t even remember half of it when I woke up. “ I sighed; this was not something I wanted to talk about, especially not right now.
“How about a round 2, we’re sober and you can tell me what I’m like in bed.” He got up from his seat as if he was thinking I’d just get up and leave to go have sex with him.
“Gross. You’re friends in the hospital and all you can think about is getting laid. How insensitive are you?” I snapped, I was extremely annoyed at this point.
“I didn’t mean right now. I meant after all of this is over when Geno’s out, and he’s fine.“
“Do you really think everything’s going to be okay? Like up here.” I said pointing to my head. “He hit his head pretty hard, twice!” I added.
I didn’t want to be negative but I was worried for Geno.
"Geno's one of the toughest guys I know, he'll be perfectly fine." He put his arm around me and pulled me into his chest, it was a nice gesture. Maybe he's not all bad.
"Does he ever talk about her?" I asked, "Victoria, I mean. "
He laughed a bit, "It's been two years and he still hasn't stopped talking about her."
"At least it's mutual."
Maybe he was right, maybe it would all be okay.
