No Sense of Direction 033:

Chapter Thirty Three

"You see, I told you that I would be patching you boys up all night," I muttered as Sidney sat on my table, a cut on his nose from having a puck smash into his face.

Sidney gave me a slight smirk as he winced when I started to clean up the blood, "Sorry."

"What are you sorry for?" I asked while I looked at him, "It's my job remember! You boys have to keep it interesting for me."

He laughed a little and then I saw him hold his head, "Hey, come on now, don't pass out on me, you have a game to win."

"I'm not gunna pass out, my head hurts a little."

"Well I would expect it to after a puck hits it," I laughed and then look at the cleaned up cut. I did the normal procedure when you got hit by a puck and found that Sidney was going to be all right.

"Am I cleared for contact?" he asked as I jotted some things down into his file.

"Yes sir," I smiled and he smiled towards me and hopped off of the table.

"Thanks Kat," he said as I felt his hand on my arm.

"Any time Sid," I smiled and then looked down because that damn magnet was back.

"I'm gunna head out," he said and I nodded my head and watched as he walked to the door.

"Try to avoid those flying pucks!" I yelled and he laughed and waved his hand as he walked out of the room.

-Sidney-

We won the game, and Kat was right when she said yesterday that we would keep her busy. Between the injuries from the six fights, yes I know it's a lot, but we hate the Flyers, the puck to my face, and the fact that Matt was boarded so hard that he was going to be out for at least two games because of lower body injuries, Kat was having a hard time keeping up with us.

As soon as I finished showering I changed into my clothes and walked out of the locker room, heading into Kat's office to see how Matt was doing.

"I don't understand how you hurt your knee?" Kat asked as Matt sat in some basketball shorts on the table as Kat tried to find anything else wrong with him, "I looked at the video, I didn't see any contact to the knee, Matt."

"I don't know, it's pretty sore," he muttered and then I saw him smirk when Kat looked away from him.

I scoffed and he looked over towards me and waved, "The asshole's fine, Kat."

"What?" she asked and looked up towards Matt to see him smirking, "Asshole!" she growled and then punched his shoulder and he laughed but the flinched when he hit something in his back. Kat sighed and leaned Matt forward and I did see the pain in his face, "He pinched a nerve, I know that for sure."

"How long will he be out?" I asked as I sat on Kat's stool and watched her work.

"Like I said before, about two or three games," she said and Matt sighed, "It's not as bad as I thought it would be Matt, you could have been out for a month."

"I know," he muttered and I nodded my head, hearing the knock on the door and turning around to see Coach walking in. Kat told Coach what was up and then when he left, Zach walked in and patted my shoulder as he walked passed me.

"How's the face?" he asked with a smirk and I scoffed and shook my head.

"Glad you enjoyed the game."

"Like I said, it's always entertaining to see you two go against each other!" Zach laughed and I sighed and held my head because he still hurt.

"Take two of these," I heard and looked up to see Kat throwing a bottle of Advil at me.

"I'm good."

"Shut up and take them, you're probably feeling pressure in your head, right?" Kat asked and I nodded my head, regretting it instantly, "Take two."

"Fine."

"Man you're a horrible patient," Zach teased and I snorted and took two pills out of the bottle and Zach threw a bottle of water at me.

"Thanks," I muttered as I took the pain pills and looked up to see that Matt was standing up from the table trying to stretch his back.

"Stop! Don't but too much pressure on the nerve!" she yelled as she slapped his arm.

"What the hell am I supposed to do then? Hunch over all the time?"

"If that doesn't cause you pain then yes!" she said and Matt growled, "Just give it a few days."

"I don't like it."

"You're not supposed to like it," she muttered and then sighed.

-Katrina-

"Well today was interesting," Zach said as the two of us walked into our house to see the pups running over towards us, "Boy you guys are getting big!"

I smiled and was about to walk into the kitchen when the doorbell rang and I turned around to see that Dana was standing on the front porch, "Dana? What's wrong?" I asked because normally I would see her in the morning.

"Sam stole just about everything I own!" she said and my eyes widened and I felt Zach walk over and stand behind me.

"Where is he?" Zach asked and Dana shook her head.

"I called the police, he took everything except my clothes," she cried and I ushered her into the house and moved her into the kitchen.

"I'll make some coffee," I muttered and looked at Zach to see that he was staring at Dana.

"I was out with my sister for her birthday, maybe a few hours, I was letting him stay with me until he got back on his feet, I know, bad move there," she cried and I placed my hand on her shoulder, "When I came back he and some other guy were throwing all of my stuff into boxes."

"What happened here?" I asked while seeing some blood seep through her sleeve on her upper arm.

"Sam pushed me and I fell back against the cabinet, must have scratched it on something," she explained and I lifted the sleeve, only to find that it wasn't going over the cut so I said screw it and had her take her shirt off.

"I'll find her a shirt," Zach muttered as he walked out of the room.

"It's pretty deep, Dana, I'll have to stitch it up," I said and then walked to the sink and pulled the first aid kit out.

"Is it gunna hurt?" she asked and I looked at her and sighed, nodding my head, "Perfect."

"I don't want you going home, you're gunna stay with me."

"Kat, I couldn't-"

"Too bad, you are," I said and Dana sighed, "Zach's leaving tomorrow and to be honest, I don't want to be alone in this big house, and now that this has happened to you, I don't want you to be alone either."

"Here's a shirt," Zach said as he appeared with one of his shirts, and I smirked when I saw him blush when he saw Dana in only a bra.

"Thanks," she muttered and I helped her put the t-shirt on and then rolled the sleeve up so I could stitch her up.

"You know where he could be?" Zach asked and Dana sighed and shook her head.

"You should see my apartment, it looks like I just moved out, it's so empty," Dana muttered and then flinched when I poured some rubbing alcohol on the wound.

"You ready?" I asked and Zach walked over with a bottle of Jack whiskey and handed it to Dana.

"Get it over with," she muttered and took a swing of it and then cursed when the needle went into her.

When I looked up after finishing up I saw that Dana was holding Zach's hand, her eyes were clamped shut, and pain was just washed all over her face, "I'm finished."

"Thank god," she muttered and then slouched against her seat.

"I'll be back," Zach muttered and I looked up towards him.

"Don't get arrested!" I yelled and he nodded his head and grabbed his jacket, "I mean it Zach!"

"Love you!" he yelled and then walked out the front door.

"Where is he going? He's not going after Sam is he?" Dana asked and I placed my hand on her shoulder, trying to calm him down.

"It'll be all right, Dana."

"Kat, your family's done so much for me, I can't ask you to get in trouble over my problem, my own family problem," Dana said and I smiled and shook my head.

"You're our family too! You've been with us, helping take care of the horses for what? Twelve years?" I asked and Dana smirked and nodded her head.

"Yeah, my dad and I started to work for you when I was fifteen," she muttered and I laughed.

"So you've had a crush on my brother since you were fifteen?" I asked and she looked up towards me, her face red and a shocked look on my face.

"I don't-"

"Please, there's so much sexual frustration between the two of you it's ridicules!" I laughed and Dana took another swig of the Jack, only making me laugh some more, "Dana, you're like a big sister to me, and being raised with two brother, I need a sister."

"Thanks."

"Any time."
