Sorry it took so long! I was out of town! Happy Reading!

Chapter Forty Three

"I'm sorry, Kat," Tyler said as he wrapped his arms around my neck.

"Just keep an eye on him, Ty," I answered and Tyler nodded his head and then started to walk back over towards Brad and Dougie, who had their hands on Milan's arms, "Have a safe flight."

"Thanks," he said and then turned around.

I looked at Milan and saw that he was staring at me, I turned around and started to walk away. After taking a few steps I looked back, something I shouldn't have done, Tyler had his hand on Milan's chest and trying to talk to him. Tyler turned back towards me and nodded his head, so I turned around and started to leave.

Tyler had bailed Milan out of jail this morning and then took him to the hospital because Milan did have some broken ribs from when he was kicked by Snowflake, he had a bruise on his face from where Sidney had punched him, his knuckles were cut up, and he had to get stitches in his upper arm from where he apparently fell on something sharp and scratched his arm.

When I got home I walked towards the stables and over towards Balto's stall. I was depressed, but I still had work around the stables to do. My cheek wasn't swollen, but I had a nasty black eye from when I got punched yesterday. One by one I took the horses out of their stalls and walked them to the fields, making sure to put their coats on, since it was a little chilly.

I cleaned up the stalls, that occupied about two hours of my time, after I finished with that, I placed food and fresh water in their buckets and decided that I was going to join the horses in the fields. I walked over towards the hay barrel and laid on top of it, staring at the sky. I heard a horse come over and looked to see Balto next to me. I smiled as he rubbed his face against mine and then tried to push me off of the barrel.

"Hey now! That's not very nice!" I laughed and then stood up on the barrel and wrapped my arms around his neck and climbed onto his back, riding bareback, "You'll never hurt me, right Balto. You're my good boy."

He trotted around a little bit and then I hopped off of his back and leaned against the tree, seeing some of the other horses running over and I smiled as I patted their necks. It was a lot of work having seven horses, but it was fun, and I enjoyed them. I was happy with the fact that I chose to come back to Pittsburgh, I had missed home very much.

I heard my phone ring and looked at it to see that Chris was calling, I smiled because I haven't talked to my younger brother in a while, "Hey!"

"Hey, where are you?" he asked and I could hear the smile on his face.

"In the fields, why?"

"Figures you would be there," he said and I was confused.

"Why?" I laughed and then ran by hand down Care-Bear's head.

"KAT!!!" I heard and looked passed the horses to see that Chris was standing on the fence waving his arms towards me.

"Oh my god," I laughed and then walked over towards him, "What are you doing here?"

"What the hell happened to your face?!" he growled as he grabbed my face and looked at it wide eyed.

"Oh, you missed a fun time yesterday," I said as he continued to stare at it, "Stop!"

"Does Zach know?"

"No."

"Why?"

"Because I haven't called him, he's enjoying his time with Dana, I don't wanna ruin that."

"Dana? Why she down there?" he asked confused.

"Because they're a thing or whatever," I said and then moved my head out of Chris' hands.

"Oh. So what happened?" Chris said and I sighed and tried to walk away, but he grabbed my arm, "Kat."

"Milan and Sidney got into a fight."

"Yeah, I saw it on TV, but- Wait! Here?!" he asked and I nodded my head, "Did Milan do this to you?!"

"I-um."

"Kat! Did Milan do this to you?!"

"It was an accident."

"Kat! He punched you!"

"It wasn't meant for me," I said and Chris pulled my face up to look at him, "He and Sidney were fighting and I tried to pull them apart, but I got punched."

"Why were they fighting?" Chris asked and I sighed.

I rubbed my face and then looked at my brother, "Sidney and I- we uh- Milan and I aren't-" I couldn't speak, my words weren't coming out.

Chris didn't say anything, he understood what I was trying to say. He wrapped his arms around my neck and pulled me into his chest, "I love you Kat."

"Love you too Chris," I said as Chris kissed my head.

"So are you and Lucic over?"

"Yeah."

"Good, he was no good for you," Chris said and I sighed and shrugged my shoulders, "Well come on, I have some people I want you to meet."

"What? No Chris, I don't have any makeup on to cover this up-"

"Then I'll bring them into the kitchen and you go upstairs," he said and I sighed and nodded my head.

I walked out of the field, making sure that the gate was closed behind me and then walked through the stables, with Chris' arm around my shoulder, "So why are you here? I mean I'm happy you are, just curious."

"The whole team is here, we have an event with the Pittsburgh Penguins tomorrow," Chris said and I nodded my head, "The guys are staying at the hotel in the city, but I wanted to come home. When the guys heard about you some of them wanted to meet you."

"Oh, all right," I said as we walked into the house.

I snuck through the library and into the family room, hearing Chris bring the guys into the kitchen and I hurried upstairs and into my new room. I figured it was time to pack my parents' things up and since I was the owner of the house, I moved all of my belongings into the master bedroom. It felt weird at first, but after a few days, I became accustomed to automatically walking into that room instead of my old one.

I walked into the attached bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror, I was sweaty and gross, so I decided that I was going to take a quick shower. Once I was out, I threw my hair into a ponytail and then put some makeup on to try and cove the bruise as best as I could.

I changed into jeans and a t-shirt and then made my way downstairs to hear people laughing in the kitchen. I walked in to see that there were at least ten guys that I didn't know, and then Sidney was standing next to my brother, laughing with the guys.

'...When did he get here?...' I thought as my brother noticed me and called out my name.

"Hey," Sidney said and I smiled towards him and saw the bruise on his face, and cuts on his knuckles.

"Kat, hey, come 'ere, I want you to meet the team," Chris said as she wrapped his arm around my shoulder and pulled me into his side.

I looked at all of the big guys in front of me and smiled, "Boy Chris, your sister's a babe!" someone yelled and I blushed a little and then felt Sidney pull me into his side.

"Kat, this is Zach Sill, Brain Gibbons, Alex Grant, Joey Mormina..." and he went on and on and on, it was hard to remember all of their names, but by the time he had finished, Chris was smiling towards me and rubbing my shoulder.

"Now you're going to be quizzed!" someone yelled and I laughed and shook my head.

"Just slap an 'F' on that paper right now," I smirked and the guys laughed.

We spent most of the time in the kitchen, the guys asked about Sidney's bruises, but he just said that it was from the Milan fight from the other day, not mentioning about what happened yesterday. Baxter and Daisy came in and the guys were playing with them. We ordered some pizza and wings, some of the Pittsburgh Penguins came over and everyone was having a good time.

While the guys were watching a game on the TV, Vero came over towards me and grabbed my hand. I didn't even know that she and Marc were here. She pulled me up the stairs and asked me where my room was.

"This is beautiful," she said as she looked around the room in awe.

"It was my parents," I muttered and she looked back at me and nodded her head.

"Marc told me, I am sorry."

"Thanks," I said and then walked over towards the bed, "So what's up?"

"How are you? I know your face is covered in makeup," she said and I sighed and nodded my head.

"It hurts."

"Well of course it will, I'm surprised nothing's broken! You were punched my Milan Lucic, Katrina!" Vero said and I sighed and then pulled my knees up to my chest, looking at my hand, where the engagement ring once sat, "Do you miss him?"

"Of course I miss him."

"Do you still love him?" Vero asked and I felt her sit down next to me.

"There hasn't been any love in that relationship for a while. I think after a while, we were only in it for sex," I sighed and Vero placed her hand on my knee.

"It'll get better, Kat. You have Sidney now," she said and I gave her a small smile.

"I don't want a relationship yet. I don't want to move to fast with him," I said and Vero nodded her head.

"Understandable, but don't go running-"

"No! No, I won't run," I said and looked at her, "If Sidney really likes me," I smiled a little, "He'll give me a little time."
