Chapter Forty Eight

“Merry Christmas, Kat,” Sidney said as I looked up and saw that he was holding a mistletoe over our heads.

I laughed and then looked at Sidney, “Merry Christmas, Sid.”

He pressed his lips onto mine and I felt his hand on the back of my neck and his thumb on my cheek. It was Christmas Eve, and we were at Mario’s annual Christmas party.

“Ah! Look at the happy couple!” James yelled as he came over towards us and threw his arms over our shoulders.

“Go away, James,” I laughed as I pushed his arm off of me and felt Sidney pull me forward.

“Go get drunk, Neal,” Sidney laughed as he playfully pushed his shoulder.

“All right, all right, have fun,” James said as he laughed and then walked away.

“Such a dork,” Sidney said and I laughed and then shook my head.

After the party, Sidney decided that he was going to come back to my house. He parked his car in my driveway and then walked over towards me as I got out of my truck and pressed his lips against mine. He grabbed my hand and then we walked inside the house and towards the living room, after hearing the TV on, and seeing Tyler, Chris, Zach and Dana watching the Christmas Story.

“Hey guys,” I said as I walked over towards the couch and leaned in-between Tyler and Chris, “How are my favorite little brothers doing?”

“Fine,” they both said and then looked at each other.

I laughed and then ruffled both other their hairs and laughed, “Hey Zach, when did you get in?”

“About two hours ago,” he said and I nodded my head, “Good to see you.”

“Same,” I smirked and then kissed his cheek.

"Crosby," Zach said and nodded his head towards Sidney.

"Zach," Sidney said and I looked back and forth between the two and scoffed.

"Is that how guys saw 'hello'?" I asked and they smirked and nodded their heads, "Men."

"That's how the world works, Kat," Dana said and I looked over towards her and smirked.

“Dana, you look comfy.”

“I am,” she blushed and I laughed because she was sitting on Zach’s lap.

“Good for you, did you do a last check on the horses?” I asked and she shook her head.

“I was gunna do it at the next commercial,” she said and I nodded my head.

“I got it, you look comfortable,” I said and she looked over towards me.

“You sure?”

“Yeah, I haven’t seen them since yesterday,” I said and she nodded her head and I grabbed Sidney’s hand and we walked out the back door.

We walked towards the stables, hearing the snow crunch underneath our feet. I laughed when Sidney spun me around as if we were dancing and then pressed his hand on the back of my neck and placed his other hand on my waist. I smiled up at him and placed my hands on his jacket covered chest. Sidney leaned down and then pressed his lips onto mine.

When he pulled away, he came back forward and kissed my nose. I laughed and then grabbed his hand and finished the rest of the way to the stables.

I walked down to the last stall and was going to work my way up, so Snowflake was going to be my first horse. I saw Sidney walked over towards Balto and I smirked and ran my hand down Snowflake’s back and threw her coat on her since it was a little cold.

Once I finished with Snowflake, I walked into Nightwing’s, then Starfire, Blaze, Care Bear, Lola and then finally Balto. I walked up to him and placed his coat on and walked over towards his head and started to pet his neck. Sidney was standing with Blaze petting his head and my hand went under his neck and I felt something dangling. I looked back towards Balto to see that there was a necklace hanging down from his harness. I gasped and then unhooked it and smiled.

‘…That’s what he was doing…’ I thought as I looked over towards him and saw him smirking in front of Balto’s stall. I walked out of the stall and placed my hand on his neck, “It’s beautiful, Sidney.”

“Just like you,” he said and then pressed his lips against mine and pushed me up against the stall, “Merry Christmas, Katrina.”

I smiled and then looked down at the necklace and saw the heard shaped diamond necklace. I unhooked the clasp and then wrapped it around my neck, hooking it again and then bringing my fingers down to the heart. I smiled and then dropped it, placed my hands on Sidney’s shoulders and kissed his cheek.

“I love it,” I smiled and then hugged him, “Thank you.”

“I’m glad you like it,” he said and then pressed his lips against mine.

"You look beautiful," I smiled as I walked into Kat's bedroom to see her pulling her dress up in the mirror. I noticed that she was wearing the diamond heart necklace that I got her for Christmas, and I smirked at that.

"Thank you," she smiled and I walked over towards her helped her zip up her red sparkling thigh high dress.

I kissed her shoulder and then moved to her neck, feeling her body lean against mine as I placed my hands on her waist. She turned her head towards me and I pressed my lips onto hers and felt her turn around in my arms.

There was a knock at the door, and I pulled away and we looked to see that Dana was standing there, "We're getting ready to leave."

"All right, we'll be down soon," Kat said and Dana nodded her head and then left, "I don't want to go to this party."

I smirked and kissed her cheek, "It's New Years Eve, we kind of have to."

"I still don't want to."

"A little dancing, a little alcohol, a little mingling, kissing, and then after midnight, we'll leave," I said and she sighed and nodded her head.

Kat slipped her heels on and then we headed out of the room and down the stairs. I grabbed her jacket and helped her put it on and then grabbed mine.

"You sure you don't want to come out with us, Tyler?" Kat asked as she walked into the living room and saw Tyler and all three dogs on the couch.

"Naw, I'm all right," he said and she sighed and walked over towards him and kissed his forehead.

"Give me a call if you want some company, lord knows I'll need some saving tonight," she said and I smirked and heard Tyler laughed and high five her.

"Have fun you guys," he said and I nodded my head and waved towards him.

I didn't trust the fact that he was here, he didn't seem like a threat, another person to try and get between Kat and myself, and Kat certainly didn't treat him more than a brother, so maybe the fact that he was a Bruin that made me feel uneasy. I felt bad about his injury, I knew the feeling about not being able to play the sport that you love, and Kat was helping him through his rehab because he had fired the others.

"Don't forget to do those stretches, Tyler!" Kat said as we headed out the door and I heard Tyler mumble a 'yeah, yeah' as I closed the door and saw that Dana and Zach were already in the car.

"Where's Chris?" I asked as we got into the car.

"The little dweeb decided that he wanted to spend it with his boys," Zach said from the driver's seat and I smirked, "So Crosby, what club is it?"

"Shakers."

"Sounds like a striper joint," Dana said and we laughed.

"You know where it is?" I asked and Zach nodded his head and started to pull out of the driveway.

"I swear to god, if this is a stripper joint, I'm gunna kill you guys," Kat said and I smirked and then wrapped my arm around her shoulder and kissed her head.

"It's not, I promise," I said and she shook her head, "Not anymore at least."

"Sidney!"

"I'm kidding, I'm kidding!" I laughed and she scoffed.

"All right, let's go get drunk and make fools of ourselves for the last few hours of the year!" Zach yelled as he pulled onto the street and Kat shook her head.

"How 'bout we not and say we did," she said and I laughed and placed my hand on her knee.

"You worry too much."

"Maybe I don't worry enough," she said and I kissed her cheek and then texted the guys saying that we were on our way because they were texting me, wondering where we were.
