No Sense of Direction 059:

Chapter Fifty Nine

-Katrina-

"Looks good," I said as I held Sidney's face in my hands and I looked at his jaw, "How does it feel?"

"Better?"

"When's your next surgery?"

"Tomorrow," he said and I nodded my head, "I get the bottom teeth fixed."

"All right," I said and then pulled away and picked up his file, jotting down when I thought about his jaw, and what he told me about his surgery.

It's been two weeks since the game against the Bruins, about six weeks since his jaw was broken and things have been frustrating. Sidney was obsessed with the fact that he thinks I want to go back with the Bruins. That was pure crazy talk, and the more I told him that, the more he didn't believe me. Sure I miss the Bruins, well, most of them, but I loved my life here in Pittsburgh, I didn't want to leave.

"Just have your doctor call me after the surgery tomorrow," I said plainly and then looked up at Sidney to see that he was looking at the ground.

"Yeah, sure," he muttered, "Am I good?"

"Yeah, go," I muttered and then turned around and heard Sidney hope off of the table and practically run out of the room. I sighed and then looked over towards the door, seeing it closed shut. I shook my head and looked down at his charts, "Unbelievable."

"Well believe it!" I heard and turned my head to see Chris standing in my now opened doorway.

"Hey!" I smiled and Chris walked in and hopped up onto the table, "What's up?"

"Just came to visit my big sis, Coach said that you be here."

"You mean Uncle Dan?" I laughed and Chris shrugged his shoulders, "So what's up?"

"So how have you and Crosby been?" he asked and I sighed and then turned back around, "Wow, that bad?"

"Drop it, Chris."

"Must be that bad," he muttered, "So Mario's gunna send Beau and I back down."

"What?" I asked as I shot around, "But I was starting to like having you around!"

"Hey now," he laughed and I smiled sadly, "We both knew that this was only temporary. Neal's back and you have that new guy, Murry. It's time for me to go back down the AHL."

"When do you leave?"

"Tomorrow morning," he said and then sighed, "Beau is packing now, I never really unpacked."

"Chris-"

"I know, I know, but to be honest, I didn't think I would be here as long as I was."

I sighed and then watched as Chris hopped off of the bed and walked over towards me. I pouted and then wrapped my arms around Chris' back and felt his arms around my shoulders, "I'm gunna miss you, Chris."

"I'm gunna miss you too Kat, but I gotta go back," he said and then pulled away, "Maybe I'll be brought up again, who knows Crosby and Martin are still out after all."

"You'll be back," I smiled and then patted my brother's chest.

"I'll see you later," Chris said and I smiled and nodded my head.

Chris left the office and I was by myself again. Once I had finished with Sidney's file, I placed it back in the cabinet and then decided that I was going to head home since there was nothing left for me to do here. I grabbed my jacket and then walked out of the office and heading down the hallway to the exit.

"Kat!" I heard and then turned around to see Marc walking down the hallway.

"Hey!" I smiled, "What are you doing here?"

"Coach wanted to talk to me about something," he said and I nodded my head, "What about you?"

"Checking up on Sidney's jaw."

"Oh yeah, how are you two?"

"Uh-"

Marc sighed and then stopped and grabbed my arm, "What happened?"

"You know that Tyler Seguin has been staying at my house right?"

"Yeah, you're helping him with his injury."

"Well when we played the Bruins, some of them went to my house after the game to go and see Tyler," I said and he nodded his head, "When Sid and I got home from the club, they were there. He got mad because they were all coming up to me and hugging me and saying that they missed me."

"Lucic there? I know he pulled that stunt at the club-"

"No, Chara said that he dropped Milan off at the hotel and wasn't going to tell him where they were going."

"I'm sure he found out."

"I'm sure he did, but he never showed up," I said and then leaned against the wall, "Ever since that night, he hasn't been acting like himself, it's like he thinks that I betrayed him by talking with the Bruins. I mean, they are my friends! Well, some of them are."

"Seems like you got yourself in a mess," Marc sighed and then picked his hat up and ran a hand through his hair and then placing his hat back on.

"I'm happy with my life in Pittsburgh, Marc, I don't want to leave, but Sidney is making it seem like I'm just going to back my stuff up and go back to Boston."

"He's scared, Kat. Sid likes you a lot, and I think that scares him," Marc defended and I felt my eyes water and I quickly wiped any trace of tears from my eyes, "Kat, don't cry."

"It's just so frustrating! He won't even talk to me, or hear me out! The only way I see him is when I have to check up on his jaw," I said and Marc walked forward and wrapped his arms around me.

"Come on," Marc said and we started to walk towards the exit, "I think I should talk to him."

"No, it's not that, I just-"

"Kat!" I heard and Marc and I turned around.

"Oh come on, not now!" I whined when I saw Milan walking over.

"LOOCH!!" I heard and turned my head to see Tyler and Brad running over, "Come on, stop!"

Marc pushed me behind him, "What are you doing here?"

"Move it!"

"Milan go home," I said and he shook his head, "Come on, I heard you moved on, good for you, so go back to Boston and continue to move on."

"I broke up with her," he said and I sighed and placed my hand on Marc's back.

"Looch, come on man, you just said you wanted to see her," Brad said, "You saw her, come on!"

"Get off," he said and pushed Brad off.

"Lucic, leave Kat alone-"

"Marc!" I yelled because Milan had pushed Marc to the ground and then stepped over him.

"Oh come on, I may be little but-"

"Stay down!" Milan kicked Marc in the stomach.

"Leave him alone!" I yelled and then pushed Milan, but that did absolutely nothing. I felt Milan's arms around my waist and he picked me up and threw me over his shoulder, "No! Let me go! Milan! Let me go!"

Milan walked over towards the elevator in the parking garage and walked into it, pressing the button to go up and I saw Brad and Tyler running over, with Marc not far behind. The doors closed and we went up, but Milan hit stop and then placed me on the ground.

"Why are you doing this?!"

"I just want to talk!"

"This is not how people talk! You're ruining my relationship with Sidney!"

"He ruined ours!" Milan yelled and I gulped and looked away, "Kat, don't you see, I never stopped loving you! I never got over you!"

He walked up to me and cupped my face and pushed my back against the wall.

"No stop," I said as I placed my hand on his chest, trying to hold him back, "Milan please, I can't."

"Why?" he asked and then let my face go and grabbed my hands, "Why don't you love me anymore?"

"You didn't love me," I muttered and then looked at him, "You might have at first, but you didn't in the end."

"Why are you believing that? Everyone's telling you that and you're believing that! Kat, I did love you- I DO love you!"

"Milan I-"

"NO!" he yelled and then gripped my wrists and pushed them against the wall and pinned them there. I winced and then looked up at Milan, "Don't."

"Milan, please stop, you're only hurting yourself more by being here. Go home back to Boston, back to your girlfriend."

"I don't want to be with her."

"Why not?"

"She's not you," he whispered and then brought his face closer to mine.

"Milan," I breathed and pushed my head back, "Don't do it."

Milan pressed his lips against mine and then laced his fingers with mine.

'...God dammit...' I thought as I felt Milan's hand glide down my hand and to my waist, '...This is so messed up!...'

I had draped my arms around his neck and tangled my fingers in his hair. He pushed his body against mine and then pulled away, panting for air. He looked at me with hopeful eyes, and I looked at him with fear.

"Come back to Boston with me, Kat."
