Cold As Ice

If Only

It had been four days since the arcade incident; Jake hadn’t said a word to her since that day, Jordan wouldn’t admit it to her friends but the lack of communication between her and Jake was really starting to get to her. She sat on her couch her feet kicked up onto the coffee table, Kayla sat by her side as they watched a funny movie that Violet had suggested.
She couldn’t pay attention to the movie with her thoughts running wild over Jake; she didn’t know why seeing him with another girl bothered her so much, they weren’t even dating. Jake wasn‘t hers and she wasn’t his, if he wanted to go out with other girls than she could to the same thing.
She looked over at Kayla and Violet, neither of them were paying attention to the movie, she sighed to herself as she got out her phone, she looked through her contacts trying to find someone to hang out with.

Fiona ran her hand through her hair as she waited for Ariel to walk out of the change room and show her the dress she was trying on. She looked through her phone trying to keep herself occupied; Ariel walked out of the change room and cleared her throat to get Fiona’s attention. Fiona looked up and her mouth dropped, Ariel twirled around in the dress showing it off, she turned her back to Fiona admiring the dress in the mirror.
“Sidney would have a heart attack if he saw you in that dress.” Fiona spoke still in awe by how amazing Ariel looked.
Ariel scoffed and walked back into the room to try on the next dress, “Are you ever going to text him?” Fiona asked.
Ariel rolled her eyes even though Fiona couldn’t see her, she had gone over this with her before; she wasn’t going to make the first move. The last time she spoke to Sidney was when she said goodbye to him in New York, he hadn’t tried to contact her in any way and she wasn’t going to be the first to say something.
“Are you and Jeff back together?” Ariel asked changing the conversation; she slipped on the new dress and walked out to show Fiona.
“No, I’m done with him.” Fiona scoffed, Ariel looked over her shoulder at Fiona who was avoiding looking at her, they both knew that was a lie.
“You’re lying, you still love him.” Ariel called her out, Fiona sighed knowing it was true, she did still love Jeff, she loved him more than anyone.
“I do,” She sighed again, “I’m in love with him.” She shook her head finally admitting something she had denied for the past few months.
Ariel walked back in and changed back into her original clothes, she grabbed the first dress and walked out, she made her way over to the cashier while Fiona trailed behind her.
“You deserve better than him, and I’m sure you’ll find someone new in Montreal.” Ariel reassured, she knew how nervous Fiona was about moving to Montreal next week, the last thing she needed was to be worrying about Jeff as well.
“Hopefully a cute French boy.” Fiona smiled, she thought of all the endless possibilities of what would happen in Montreal, her parents were starting to nag her about college and it was time she stopped wasting her life on guys and alcohol and get herself an education.
“I still can’t believe you’re going all the way to Montreal.” Ariel shook her head as she typed in the pin number to her credit card.
Fiona rolled her eyes, she was going to miss all of her friends but this was her chance to start off new, living in Montreal has always been a dream of hers and now she could fulfill it without anything or anyone holding her back.
Ariel grabbed the bag from the cashier saying a small thank you and followed Fiona out the store and into the crowded mall; she pushed past people who got in her way and mumbled about how slow some people walk to Fiona who agreed.
They had finally made it to the parking lot; she slid into the driver’s seat and put her bag in the back seat while Fiona made herself comfortable in the passenger seat. She checked her mirrors before backing out of the parking spot and driving home.

After making up an excuse to leave Kayla and Violet, Jordan was on her way to meet up with Morgan, she had only spoken to Morgan a few times while she was with Jake; he had given her his number just in case she ever needed anything. She decided to text him asking if he wanted to do something which he happily obliged.
He had picked her up at her apartment; she sat in the passenger seat fiddling with her fingers not knowing how to start a conversation, she looked out the window as he drove, it was raining causing her view to be blurred. Morgan had said he had an idea in mind but he wouldn’t tell her where they were going.
“No way!” Jordan spoke as she strained her neck to look up at the CN Tower, after living in Toronto all these years she hasn’t been here since she was young.
She held onto Morgan’s arm tightly as they rode the elevator up to the top floor, she closed her eyes trying not to think about how high up they would be. She was never good with heights, but she didn’t want to spoil Morgan’s plan, he placed his hand over hers squeezing it gently, she looked up at him and smiled.
Her smile dropped once the elevator doors opened, they walked out Jordan still clinging onto his arm, she took deep breaths trying to calm her nerves. They walked out onto the glass floor, Jordan was trying to convince herself to suck it up and just look down. Morgan laughed as he watched her look down and quickly back up, she was terrified and he thought it was pretty amusing. Jordan glared at him, not enjoying that he was having such a great time while she was too scared to move a muscle.
He wrapped his arms around her waist holding her close to him, he rested his head on her shoulder as they looked out at the view, she held onto his hands as he had them wrapped around her, she felt safe knowing he was there to hold her.
She watched the rain drops tap against the glass as they looked out at the view, Jordan smiled to herself, this was the first time in a while that she was genuinely enjoying herself. She spun around and faced Morgan, without a second thought she pressed her lips against his, he wrapped his arm around her and pulled her close to him.
He pulled away from the kiss and took a step back, “I’m not the one you want.” He shook his head; he couldn’t do this, not to Jake, not to Jordan, not to himself.
“What are you talking about?” She asked confused, one minute he was kissing her and the next he was shutting her out.
“You like Jake but you’re too afraid to admit it because you know he’ll hurt you, so you’re here with me trying to take your mind off of him. Am I right?” He asked.
Jordan nodded her head, she avoided looking at him, “Come on.” Morgan grabbed her hand and led her towards the elevator.
“Where are we going?” She asked.
“You need to talk to Jake and I’m going to make that happen.” He explained, he pressed the elevator button and looked over his shoulder at Jordan who looked panicked.

Jordan knocked on Jake’s bedroom door; she took a deep breath preparing herself to see him, his door swung open and behind it stood a half naked Jake, he rubbed his eyes, he had just woken up from a nap.
“Jordan, what are you doing here?” He asked, he looked over at Morgan who was smiling innocently.
“We need to talk,” She pushed past him and walked into his room, Jake closed the door giving them a bit of privacy, “Do you like me?” She blurted out.
“Yeah, I’ve to-“He started but was cut off.
“Don’t lie to me.” She snapped, she was tired of his games and if she was going to continue putting up with him she needed to know whether or not he actually liked her or if she was just another girl he was sleeping with.
“I do like you.” He admitted, she crossed her arms over her shoulders not believing a word he said.
Jake sighed, “What do you want me to say? That I like you a lot more than I should, I like you so much it scares me because I’ve never felt this way about anyone. I like you so god damn much Jordan that every second spent away from you is torture, I know I shouldn’t tell you all this because you might not feel the same way but I just can’t stop thinking of you.”
“I do, I do feel the same.” She walked up to him and pressed her lips to his, he deepened the kiss lifting her legs up and helping her wrap them around his waist, he pushed her up against the wall as his hands made their way over to her ass.
She pulled away from the kiss before it went any further, she unwrapped her legs and he helped her back down, he gave her a quick peck before pulling her into a hug. He smirked to himself knowing it was just a matter of time before she admitted she loved him, if only he felt the same.
