Through the Dark

Fuelled Vengeance

The night rolled around quickly and I was out on my porch, watching Pekka walking up to me.
"Ready to go?" he asked with Mitty behind him.
I smirked and nodded my head. I wanted to redeem myself from my error. "Yes."
"Alright, let's go." He turned around and began sauntering towards the left, where all the trees are located.
I clamoured down the stairs and followed behind him. I had nothing to fear about the 'moon getting to me' because the three-day full moon period was over. Now it was up to me to control my powers.
I tightened the grasp of my gun as I stared up at the dark treetops that covered the view of the night sky. It was completely silent in the forest with only the exception of owls hooting or an animal scurrying by; I was able to hear the dead leaves crunch with every step we took.
The air was cool and crisp since the winter season was close to its end, making the air not too fridge, yet not too warm. Forest air was my favourite air since it kept me cool anytime I was in the area whatever I was doing in there. Definitely beats the city air.
I took in a deep breath as I continued walking calmly behind my partners, taking in the sharp, cool night air. I closed my eyes and felt the air, wanting to feel relaxed for what I was expected to do.
I then fluttered my eyes opened quite quickly and halted in my tracks; something was not right in the air.
Pekka and Mitty noticed that I stopped moving.
The blond man turned around to face me. "What's up?"
"Something's not right," I told them lowly.
"What, what's not right?" Mitty asked me softly.
I took in a sniff. "Do you guys smell that?"
Pekka looked to his left and made a confused look as he crinkled his nose; he gazed back at me. "It seems like..."
"...fire," the brunette finished off.
I nodded my head with wide eyes. "Yea."
Pekka and Mitty exchanged looks. "So...?" His voice faded off.
"I need to go check it out." I then took off, heading east where I smelled the smoke coming from.
"What?!" I heard Pekka yell from behind me. "Corey, come back!"
I can't, I thought to myself as I weaved through the trees, I can't let this forest burn down!
I felt the air that was blasting against my face heat up as I rushed through the trees. My breathing began to get louder, which the air wasn't helping with and my heart was beating because of being shocked and all the energy it's giving out so that I could move this fast.
I then spotted a glow of ember reaching out from between the trees as I approached the edge of the tree area. Now, I was starting to see ashes whiz by and the air turning into dark gray smoke.
I bursted out from the trees and my eyes flew open.
In the back middle of the tree-less area was a wooden house in flames. The windows were already busted open, showing that the inside was occupied with fire. The flames were crawling up to the roof, taking over the whole house with their brightness and crackling soudns.
But this wasn't any house I never saw before--this was my parents' house.
"SHOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!" I screamed as I rushed up to the house. "DANG IT, NO!!! WHO THE HELL DID THIS?! WHO?!"
I felt someone push my shoulder gently, grabbing my attention. I snapped my head around, seeing Patrick, the fire boy, staring at me with his cold eyes while his hair was glowing ember. But I then remembered it wasn't Patrick--it was Kari.
I was breathing hard as I felt my throat tightening. "You--" I licked my lips. "WHY?! WHY DID YOU DO THIS?!"
He lifted his hand in the air, which had a ball of fire hovering above the palm of it. "Because I need you...dead." He then pulled his arm back, ready to launch it at me.
Blinded with anger, I whipped my gun out and shot at him.
The fire in his hand immediately died out, replaced by a hole that was seeping out running blood.
"YOU KILLED MY PARENTS!" I yelled at him, lowering my gun. "YOU FREAKIN' KILLED MY PARENTS! I LOST THEM ONCE! AND NOW I LOSE THEM AGAIN!" I then sliced the air with my gun at his direction, aiming to whack him with the metal part of the gun.
Instead, he got a hold of the gun, saving him from the blow. "Your parents are not dead," he told me stiffly. "They're not here, they escaped."
"YOU BURNED THIER HOUSE DOWN! HOW COULD YOU!?" I then felt sharp energy rushing to my free hand, so I rose it up, revealing claws that came out from my fingertips; I then brought them down like how a cat would swipe an object angrily.
Patrick collapsed onto the ground and touched his face, which was where I got him; he brought his hand to his face, seeing that it was covered with blood.
I stared at him hard, seeing the three gashes I gave him across his left cheek spill out the dark liquid. "You deserve to deserve to die!" I spat at him. "You freakin' deserve to die!!!" I then pointed my gun at him and cocked it, ready to kill him off.
But as I pulled the trigger, he blasted into purple energy and disappeared into thin air.
I brought the gun down from my view, seeing the spot he was once laying on.
"DANG IT!" I thrusted my gun down at that spot and collapsed onto my knees. I then grabbed ahold of my hair with my hands as I began breathing loudly; tears then poured down my face, so I slid my hands over my eyes and dipped my head down. I letted out sobs, feeling a pang of agony erupt across my chest.
I thought I was done losing the ones who were close to me. But I guess not. Now what was I suppose to do? I was fuelled by anger, I just wanted to beat the living daylights out of Kari and send him to hell. I wanted to be back at my home, enjoying the scenery while resting on the porch with Bella by my side. But no, I can't do that. I was here, sobbing over the ones who taught me everything to survive life. I was here, experiencing my sorrow turning to vengeance. And I will give Kari what he deserved. I will. And now I am ready, absolutely ready, to give him a piece of my mind, like what I was assigned suppose to do.
I then felt a hand lay on my shoulder. "Hey," I heard Mitty's comforting voice say from behind me. "Corey."
I straightened up, seeing that the house was no longer in flames, but now showing what the fire did to it. It was now a black mess, useless and cold.
"Corey, what happened," I heard her ask me again.
"Kari," I growled under my breath, "he burned my parents' house down...using Patrick."
"Oh, so that was their house," I heard Pekka say from behind me.
"I'm gonna kill him." I got up and scooped my gun off from the gun. I turned around to face them. "I'm gonna give to him what he deserves."
They just stared at me with wide eyes.
"What are we waiting for?" I swung my gun onto my shoulder. "We got a mission to accomplish." I then walked in between them and back into the trees.

Yeah! You should totally do it!! :) I like The Flash alt. intro ideas and I think this one would be an amazing idea. Granted you can wait until something is finished first. Haha. :)

Yay! :) Thank you, thank you! Yes, Kane does have pyrokinesis because this story is part of the series Something derived from, so yea... If you want to see it from an original view point, Kane is Cole from Something in this story ;) But since this is on the hockeyfanfic site, I just put it with the hockey players' actual names. But when this goes into Wattpad, Kane's name would be changed to Cole! :D You get? ;)
