Through the Dark

Straightening Out

After I got control of my powers and let them fade away from my appearance, I checked outside to see if the three were still waiting for me.
But they weren't; the front of my house was completely empty, like as if they never came.
"Huh," I muttered to myself, "ils sont partis. Donc, ils ont reçu le message. Bon." (Huh, they left. So they got the message. Good.)
With a sigh, I sidled back outside and sat back down on my chair in the porch. I smiled a bit as I gazed around my surroundings, waiting for Bella to come.
I sat there for minutes and maybe even close to an hour. I was starting to get hungry, but I didn't want to eat without her. So I went back inside, got a bottle of beer I got back at the bar nearby, and came back and enjoyed that during the wait.
But it was like as if I was waiting for the morning to come: The evening rolled around quickly and there was still no signs of Bella. "Ah, alors ce sera un dîner... Comment bien, même mieux." I then took another sip of beer; it was my second bottle despite the fact I had the first one around four hours ago. (Ah, so this will be a dinner... How nice, even better.)
I then heard footsteps coming up to my direction again.
'Bella?' I thought to myself. I stood up slowly with wide eyes, expecting her to come walking up to me.
But instead it was Tuukka.
My facial expression turned into a scowl as I sat myself back down. Allez vous faire foutre. (Screw you.)
Of course he couldn't read my mind, which I was quite thankful for. He walked up my steps and sat next to me, making himself at home without my permission.
"Corey," Tuukka started off. "I'm sorry for what happened this afternoon. I should've understood you and respected that."
"What can you do about it now?" I muttered into my bottle as I took another sip of beer.
"I can apologize and ask you for forgiveness," he told me while leaning forward, looking at me with serenity.
I shrugged. "Yea, you can."
"Do you forgive me?"
I didn't say another, just drank some more.
"She's not coming, isn't she?"
I lowered the bottle down. "I don't want to admit that...I don't know why she wouldn't come." I placed my bottle down on the small table. "She told me she would come back."
"Well, maybe something unexpected happened and she couldn't make it."
"I hope she comes soon," I said under my breath.
Tuukka placed his hand on my shoulder. "She will." I felt him slip his hand off from me. "But do you forgive me?"
"Yea, I can," I told him with a frown.
"Would you not do what you did though this morning?"
"I don't know, I wasn't planning on it." I turned to him. "It just came about."
"Yea, well..." He looked down in deep thought, then looked back up. "...don't plan stuff on the same day we have a mission, okay?"
I letted out a soft groan. "I'll try--"
"No, you will."
Silence filled the porch for a moment.
I nodded my head slowly. "I will."
"Good."
"Uh..." I grabbed hold of my bottle again. "How did the mission go?"
"We didn't go."
I rose my eyebrows as I gazed at him with wide eyes. "You didn't go?"
Tuukka shook his head with a serious look. "We didn't want to risk anyone into going into Kari's captivity. You're our key to have success--you're our number one defence. We can't go in that building without you now."
"You guys actually cancelled the thing just for me?"
"Yea." He nodded his head. "We had to. We talked it out and decided to wait on you."
"Wow." A smile began growing on my face. "Thanks."
"Yea. It's the most logical thing to do. Smartest thing to do. But you are still on the team, right?" He gave me hopeful eyes.
I letted out a chuckle. "Yea, of course I am. I was just mad and what I said...it had no meaning. I just wanted you guys to leave, to be honest. But now...I guess this is going nowhere with all this waiting, so you guys are fine with me now."
"That's relieving to know," Tuukka told me. "Thanks for sticking along."
"Yea." I nodded my head. "I'm doing this with you guys so that I can have no one living in the forest, to be honest. And of course, for you guys."
"Yes, I hope you're not doing this just so that you can have the forest all to yourself." He chuckled a bit.
Then the uplifting mood died down due to the silence that came back in.
"Um," Tuukka started out staring at the ground, "after the fight though...you..."
Oh no, I thought to myself, please don't bring up what I think you're gonna bring up.
"...you made me think what powers you have... Can you turn into a wolf?" I turned to me with furrowed eyebrows.
I felt my body turn numb for a moment as I stared off ahead of me into outer space. He knows...he knows... I then dipped my head down as I began fiddling with my fingers. "Did anyone else made the connection?"
"Not that I know of," he told me. "So those are your powers--to turn into a wolf?"
I slowly nodded my head, not wanting to say anything.
I could sense Tuukka smiling. "Those are your powers? Why do you avoid using them?"
I made a disgusted look and shook my head. "They're just weird. I turn into something else. I don't really like using them."
"Well, maybe try using them in a fight one day." Tuukka patted my shoulder. "It just might save you, 'cause y'know, that gun of your's won't help you that much when you're fighting against supernatural people. You need your supernatural abilities to fight against supernatural abilities. Be on their level or above to get the victory."
"I might," I muttered. I'll never, I thought.
"It'll be cool though, using your full potential. Don't be afraid to try out it." I then heard Tuukka standing up. "I'm gonna go now."
I turned to my right and looked up at him. "Okay, thanks for the talk."
He nodded his head. "Yea, I just needed to straighten things out with you. Good night, Corey." He patted my shoulder as he began walking towards the stairs.
"Good night," he told him back.
I then sat there in the growing night and darkness before heading back inside.

Yeah! You should totally do it!! :) I like The Flash alt. intro ideas and I think this one would be an amazing idea. Granted you can wait until something is finished first. Haha. :)

Yay! :) Thank you, thank you! Yes, Kane does have pyrokinesis because this story is part of the series Something derived from, so yea... If you want to see it from an original view point, Kane is Cole from Something in this story ;) But since this is on the hockeyfanfic site, I just put it with the hockey players' actual names. But when this goes into Wattpad, Kane's name would be changed to Cole! :D You get? ;)
