One Shots

Sweater Weather

Victoria closed her eyes and rested her head against the seat as she tried not to worry, she was always nervous when it came to flying. She was taking a trip to California with her dad and she couldn’t wait to get out of the cold Canadian weather.
She opened her eyes as she heard someone clear their throat, she looked up at a tall and built guy staring down at her, he pointed at the empty seat by the window indicating that it was his. Victoria got up and apologized, she moved out of the way so he could sit down and then sat back down beside him.
“I’m Geno.” He introduced himself sticking out his hand to her, she grabbed his hand and shook it before introducing herself as well. He had a strong Russian accent that she completely adored, she looked over at her dad who was sitting a few seats away from her, he was eyeing her protectively and Victoria rolled her eyes.
She put on her seatbelt as she waited for lift off, she grabbed the arm rest so tight her knuckles turned white, she rested her head back and shut her eyes as the plane lifted off the ground. She felt a warm hand grab hers and she opened her eyes to see Geno holding her hand, he gave her a reassuring smile which calmed her nerves.
He let go of her hand once they were safely in the air, she let a sigh of relief she was still alive. “You okay?” He asked as she finally opened her eyes, she nodded her head and waved it off.
“I’m fine.” She smiled; he smiled back before turning to look out the window.
Geno hadn’t realized he spent so much time looking out the window as they flew over the states; he turned over to Victoria to say something but stopped when he realized she was asleep. He leaned back and closed his eyes before resting.
Victoria’s eyes crept open; she adjusted to her surroundings and slowly lifted her head off the shoulder of the guy she had met earlier. She tried to remember his name.
“G..Jay…Ge.” She muttered to herself.
“It’s Geno.” He told her as he overheard her mumbling, Victoria blushed embarrassed, he smiled to himself before readjusting himself in his seat.
“How much time longer?” He mumbled embarrassed by how broken his English was. Victoria smiled adoring the way he tried so hard to form his words into proper sentences.
She checked the time on her phone, “Three more hours.” She replied, Geno nodded his head and watched as she put her phone back into her pocket. She folded her hands in her lap and looked around the plane avoiding eye contact with him.
He watched her shiver trying to play it off like it didn’t happen, she rubbed her arms a bit trying to warm herself up, Geno grabbed the sweater he had stripped off earlier and handed it to her.
“Wear.” He smiled, Victoria tried to protest but Geno wouldn’t have it, after a few minutes of bickering Victoria slid on the grey sweater. She snuggled into the large sweater that completely covered her high waisted shorts.
Geno watched in a trance as the beautiful blonde tucked her hair behind her ear, she slipped her hands into the front pocket of the sweater, Geno slid one of his hands into the pocket and linked his hand with hers, Victoria looked up at him and blushed as his large hand engulfed hers.
“Warm?” He asked as he rubbed her hand with his thumb, Victoria nodded her head and leaned her head onto Geno’s shoulder.

They had spent the next three hours talking about God knows what, Victoria learned that Geno was a NHL player who played for Pittsburgh, and Geno had learned that Victoria was a music journalist and was traveling to California for her break.
He was impressed, she had an amazing personality and was extremely funny, he lost count of the amount of glares they received for laughing too loud.
”Shh.” He laughed as he held his hand over her mouth muffling her laugh; she held her hand over his as she tried to stop laughing.
He removed his hand from her mouth once they both settled down; they locked eyes staring at each other for a few seconds before leaning in. He pressed his lips to hers, he grabbed the back of her head gently pulling her closer to him, she pulled away before it got too heated, knowing her dad who was only a few feet away would not be proud of her making out with someone she met a few hours prior.
“Bathroom.” She whispered before smoothly getting up from her seat and making her way to the bathroom, she stood outside the doors waiting for Geno to follow.
Once he got there she shoved him into one of the bathrooms and locked it behind her, he pushed her up against the wall and locked his lips with hers. His hands roamed her body; he lifted her bare thighs and helped her wrap them around his torso keeping her from falling. She ran her hands through his hair as their lips moved in sync.
He was about to lift the sweater he had lent her up when they were interrupted by a knock on the door, the flight attendant explained how they’d be landing soon and had to head back to their seats. Victoria groaned as she unwrapped her legs from him and stood back on her two feet, she exited the bathroom with Geno following behind earning them a glare from the flight attendant. She hurried back to her seat and strapped herself in.

Victoria grabbed her luggage and followed her dad around LAX not knowing where to go, she rolled up the sleeves of the sweater as the warm weather began to sink in. She immediately stopped walking as she realized she was still wearing Geno’s sweater.
“Dad wait!” She called out; she looked around the busy airport praying that she could find him; she spotted him grabbing his luggage and ran over to him leaving her things with her confused father.
“Geno.” She smiled as she reached him, he smiled back, she took off his sweater and handed it to him thanking him for lending it to her. They said their goodbyes and as Victoria was about to walk away he grabbed her hand causing her to stop.
“Can I get phone number?” He asked shyly, Victoria nodded her head as her cheeks began to brighten; she swapped phones with Geno and inserted her number.
“Bye Geno.” She smiled as they handed back each other’s phones.
“Bye Victoria.”
