One Shots

Grown Up

“Ethan get back here!” Faith hissed as she pulled on the hood of her brother’s sweater pulling him back towards her.
“Faith!” He whined as he smacked her hand away, Faith glared at him before pushing him into the line. Her father had forced her to come to the Carolina Hurricanes signing with her brother and she hated every minute of it, there were annoying girls decked out in merchandise who would scream every time one of the players names were mentioned.
She crossed her arms over her chest as she walked by the players muttering a simple hello as they signed the canes jersey she had from a few years ago.
“My sister Faith used to love you!” Ethan practically yelled as she they reached Jeff Skinner, Faith smacked the back of Ethan’s head and glared at him.
Jeff’s smiled widened, “Used to? What changed?” He asked as he eyed Faith.
“I grew up.” She scoffed. She remembered when Jeff first got drafted; she had been completely in love with him, but then she realized chasing after hockey players wasn’t going to get her far in life and was forced to grow up.
Jeff’s smile slowly faded as her words effected him; he faked a smile trying to play it off. He signed the Ward jersey who was Ethan’s favorite player; he moved onto the black Skinner jersey that Faith would have sold her soul for a few years ago.
“She still loves you.” Ethan whispered as he realized how Jeff’s mood had changed since what Faith said, Faith heard her brother and rolled her eyes, Jeff faked a smile and patted Ethan’s shoulder.
“Thanks buddy.” He passed along their things as they walked over to the next player, “I hope to see you at the game tonight.” He called out, Faith looked over her shoulder and locked eyes with Jeff’s hopeful ones, she smiled a bit before turning around.

“Why’d you have to be so rude to Jeff?” Ethan hissed, Faith groaned pushing along her brother.
“It’s not like he cares.” She rolled her eyes; she looked at the jersey looking over all the signatures she had gotten.
“Yes he did, he shouldn’t have given you his number.” Ethan spat, Faith stopped walking once she heard what her brother had said.
“What?” She practically yelled.
“You were too busy being a bitch to realize he wrote down his number on your jersey.” Ethan grabbed the jersey from her hands showering her the phone number Jeff had written down. She stared in awe not being able to register that an NHL player had given her his number, not just any NHL but player, it was Jeff Skinner.
Jeff Skinner, the guy she had been completely in love with, the guy she still loved. She grabbed her phone and added his number to her contact list.
“You still love him.” Ethan teased as he playfully shoved his sister.
“Shut up!” She hissed as she pushed him away from her. They made their way over to their seats that were only a few rows away from the boards. She sat down crossing her leg over the other; she leaned back into her seat as the teams skated onto the ice.
Jeff circled the rink trying to find the girl he had met earlier; he stopped once he found her, she was on her phone not paying attention to what was going. He wondered if she had noticed that he left his number on her jersey, he looked over at her brother Ethan who noticed him staring; he elbowed his sister whispering something to her.
“Jeff is looking at you.” Ethan whispered, Faith’s head shot up as her eyes locked with Jeff’s, he smiled at her before yelling something she couldn’t hear. She furrowed her eyebrows trying to understand what he was saying.
He pointed at his jersey and then made a motion telling her to put it on, Faith playfully rolled her eyes before grabbing the jersey in her lap and slipping it on, she fixed her hair as he gave her a thumbs up before skating away. She looked around to notice people staring at her; she awkwardly hid her face behind her hair as she waited for the game to start.

Jeff had scored the game winning goal during overtime against the Maple Leafs , Faith and Ethan jumped up from their seats as Jeff was attacked by his teammates, the crowd cheered for Jeff, he skated by the boards pointing at Faith once again causing strangers to stare at her.
Faith and Ethan hung around a bit knowing traffic would be horrible after the game; they walked through the corridors of the arena towards the exit. Faith got out her phone and sent her first text to Jeff about how he played great tonight. She closed the car door and put on her seatbelt, it’d be a long drive back to Hamilton, she put the keys in the ignition just as her phone buzzed. She grabbed it figuring it was probably Autumn or Keirstyn asking how the game went, her heart raced as she saw it was a text from Jeff.
“Meet me at Jones bar.” He included directions on how to get there from the arena, Faith looked up from her phone to her brother, she couldn’t bring him along to a bar, he was underage.
Faith had dropped off her brother at a friend’s house for the night, she couldn’t drive all the way to Hamilton and back so begging her friend to let him stay the night was the best she could do. She walked through the bar trying to find Jeff, she heard her name being called; she turned around to see Jeff waving her over.
She smiled as she sat down across from him in the small bar, he handed her the beer he had ordered for her before she arrived, she took a sip and set it back down.
“Where’s your brother?” He asked noticing she came alone.
“I dropped him off at a friend’s.” She explained, Jeff nodded as he looked around the bar, it was quite empty.
“Do you usually do that for people you give up on?” He teased.
“I didn’t give up on you Jeff,” She defended, “I was forced to grow up, I couldn’t spend my whole life chasing after hockey players.” She explained.
“Faith, I was kidding!” He laughed at how defensive she got, he placed his hand over hers and squeezed it letting her know he didn’t blame her for moving on with her life.
“Now I’m legal and hot.” She smiled.
“You sure are.” He agreed, the second he saw Faith he thought she was attractive, there was something about seeing her wearing his jersey that really turned him on.
“Do you wanna get out of here?” He asked hoping she’d say yes, she nodded her head before downing the rest of her beer and following him out the bar.
They exited the bar through the back door, the cold Toronto air hit them causing them both to shiver, they walked over to Faith’s car. He wrapped his arm around her as they walked, once they reached her car he gently pushed her up against it and pressed his lips to hers. Their lips moved in sync as it began to get heated.
Jeff pulled away, his forehead pressed against hers staring deeply into her eyes, “You’re mine tonight.” Faith panted out of breath; she grabbed his collar before pressing her lips back to his.
