All of me

"Are you sure you can’t come with us tonight?" Katie asks and she puts on her heels.

"Yeah, stupid exams start this week. Where are you guys going after?"

"Well since it's the last game before the Winter Olympic break, the boys want to go out and celebrate after the game. Wish you could come..."

"I know" I pout.

"Do you know who is actually going to Sochi? Adam told me but I always forget"

"Bergeron is playing for Canada, Krejci for Czech Republic, Tuukka is the goalie for Finland, Chara for Slovakia and Eriksson for Sweden. It's gonna be so good!"

I was so excited for the Olympics. I love USA obviously but if Canada won I wouldn't mind or if Sweden won because of Tuukka. It was so hard because I wanted to root for all of my boys. I'm pathetic I know.

"Right, thanks! I’ll remember that. But wow! Good for them! That's awesome, it's good for the other players to get a few weeks off, you know? They deserve it a break."

"Yes they do! I'm assuming I'll be seeing a lot of McQuaid around here huh?" Giving her a smirk.

"Maybe" she says laughing. "He's going home for the first week. I know! Valentine’s Day week but he promised he was going to make it up to me." A big smile spread across her face.

Valentine's Day was next week. Totally had slipped my mind. Ever since I could remember Katie had been my Valentine. I didn't know why I thought this year would be different.

"Aw no, I’m sorry! I'm sure he'll make it up to you!"

"I know he will, besides I have a Valentine, the same girl who has been my Valentine for more than a decade now." Comes over and gives me a hug.

I smile, "Go! You are going to be late to the game!"

"Go Bruins!!" as she does a little cheer before closing the door.

I laughed out loud and shook my head and went into my room.

Throughout the night, Katie sent me snapchats and that only happened when she's had a little too much to drink. She was hanging out with other player’s wives/girlfriend. They were all gorgeous and such sweethearts. I missed them.

She send me a selfie at one point and she pointed at Jess who was a few rows in the background captioned This bitch which made me laugh.

My phone rings at 3:20 am. It was Adam.

"Hey Emma, are you awake?

"Hey! Yeah I'm up, is everything okay?" I quickly get up.

"I'm sorry for calling so late but can you please come open the door downstairs? Katie doesn't know where she left her keys."

"Yes, of course! I'll be right out"

I put on a sweatshirt, sweatpants, and put my hair in a bun, and grab my glasses as I head downstairs.

I open the door and Adam was practically holding Katie, who was stumbling all over the place. As they were making their way into the house, I realized it was McQuaid's car that was parked outside but he wasn't the one driving, Reilly was.

Great. The one time I look like crap.

I was holding the door open.

"Damn it, I forgot my purse in the car Adam" Katie whined as she stepped up the stairs, trying to turn around and go back.

"Ok, I'll get it, let me get you inside first, okay? Adam said.

"It's okay, I'll grab it" I said.

"You sure? You don't have too"

"No, it's no big deal" as I place my hand on his shoulder.

"Thank you!"

I start heading towards the car to what seemed like the longest walk of my life. Reilly was on his phone on the driver's seat, his left hand resting on the window. I took a deep breath. He looked up as he hears foot steps approaching. He was shocked to see me standing outside the passenger’s window.

"Hey" as I take another deep breathe.

"Emma, Hi" he says with a smile.

"Um, Katie left her purse in the car, have you seen it by any chance?" As I look around from outside the window.

"Uh" he turns around, tries to feel around for it with his hands and finally pulls it from behind the back seat.

"Is this it?" As he picks it up.

"Yes it is, thank you! She would've freaked if she left it at the club" As he hands it to me. Our hands touch. Chills rush down my spine.

"You're welcome" there was a few seconds of silence. He continues,

"So you didn't come out tonight? Katie said you have exams this week?"

"Yeah, next week. Not looking forward to it."

"That's rough, well good luck, you don't need it though!" He slightly smiles.

"Yeah haha I don't know about that, I can use all the luck I can get!" I slightly laugh as I look down. I could tell I was beginning to blush. Of course.

"So you're DD for the night huh?"

"Yep, I guess” He laughs. “Didn't really feel like getting drunk tonight you know, wasn’t feeling it.”

I nod my head. I understood.

Another awkward silence.

"You guys do have a long break coming up, right? That's exciting!"

"Yes we do! I'm going to head home for a week or two."

"That should be fun!"

"Yeah! Can’t wait" as he nods his head.

"Ok, well I should probably head back. Have a good break!" as I smile as I take a step back and step on the curve.

He gets a view of my sweatshirt and smirks. Hmm.

"Thanks, goodnight."

I was so tempted to say ‘Text me when you get home babe’ but caught myself.

"Drive safe" as I turn away and head towards the stairs.

I hated saying goodbye to him, not knowing when I would see him again. Seeing him in the car in front of my doorstep killed me, it brought back so many memories. It brought tears to my eyes. I'm glad he was going home for 2 weeks. Maybe not seeing him on TV every other day would be good for me or take my mind off of things for a little bit.

I walked into the house and Adam had tucked Katie in bed.

I sat on the kitchen counter and waited for him to come out.

"Hey, thanks again for bringing her home safe" I said as he closed Katie's door behind him.

"Sorry for waking you up at 3 in the morning" he laughs.

"No worries, I was awake anyway. Did you guys have fun tonight?"

"Yeah we did, wish you could have made it. How's studying going?"

"I know, wish I came. And it's going" as I laugh. "But you should get going though, Reilly is still waiting outside."

"Yeah totally forgot. Did you guys talk at all?" As he leaned on the counter.

"Not really, just small talk you know" as we started to head towards the door.

"I'm sorry Emma, this whole situation is messed up." He pulls me into a hug "if you need a anything I'm here, remember that."

"I know, thank you Adam! Goodnight."

After Adam leaves I lock the door. I head into Katie's room to check up on her. Adam had changed her into her pjs and she was sound asleep. I head towards the bathroom.

As I wash my face, my eyes wonder to my sweatshirt. Of course. It was his sweatshirt. That is why he was smirking earlier. I had borrowed it when we were caught in a rainstorm and all of my clothes got soaked. I look down and shake my head as I turn off the light and get into bed. Laying in bed I began replaying that whole afternoon in my head, remembering how happy I was this time last month and how quickly things can change.

A few days later.

"Can I help the next person in line?" I call out.

The pharmacy wasn't that busy since it was the end of the day. The next costumer, a male in his mid 40s, came up to the register with a prescription in his hand.

"Hi there, how may I help you?" I said smiling.

"Hey there, beautiful. I would like to drop off this prescription please." Prescriptions were dropped off at the drop off window at the left side of the pharmacy but I figured this was his first time so I didn't say anything. This was a common mistake costumer made so it was not a big deal. What was odd was that he had a paper prescription. Today, prescriptions were usually either faxed or came electronically directly to the pharmacy.

"Alright, give me a moment as I’ll put it into the system."

After he handed me the prescription, I took one look at it and realized right away it was a copy. I tried to put it in the computer but it denied it saying it was already being filled by another pharmacy. Since it was Percocet, a pain killer and a highly addictive and causes mental and physical dependence, this was a common problem.

"I'm sorry Sir, but this prescription is already being filled by another pharmacy. We can't refill this for you."

"What do you mean, sweetheart?" As he steps towards the register and grabs my hand that was resting on the counter. I take my hand away and step back. He continued,

"How can I have the prescription with me if there is another pharmacy filling it? Huh?"

"It won’t let me put it in the system. I can't fill it for you. I’m sorry."

"I'm not leaving until I get my pills! I'm in pain and need my meds!" His voice was getting louder. After seeing my frightened reaction, he lowers his voice "Please?"

At this time, John, another intern comes from the back. I explain the situation to him.

"John, I can't tell him the prescription is a copy, he’ll deny it and cause a scene! Please take care of him, he's making me feel a little uncomfortable."

"Okay, you'll be fine. I'll talk to him."

"Thank you" I was starting to get anxious.

"Hi sir, John is going to assist you, please step towards the side. Next please" as I call the other person in line.

"No! I don't want him, I want you to assist me!" He cut off the costumer and started reaching for my hand" I back away.

What was he doing?! He couldn’t reach over the counter.

"SIR! Right this was...please" John said through his teeth. He finally went over there.

"You okay hun?" The old lady, who the guy cut off, asked me as I rang her prescription up.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Thank you.” Forcing a smile. “Will that be all?"

She nods. "Do you have any questions for the pharmacist today?"

"No, I'm all set honey. Goodnight."

"Night."

After a few minutes, I see the man speed walk out of the pharmacy, he looked at me with a furious look in his face.

John walks up to me and shakes his head.

"Are they always this friendly?" I ask trying to lighten up the mood. He laughs.

"No, I've never had someone as bad as him before"

Great.

I had totally forgotten about today being Valentine’s Day. Before I head home I go to the candy section and stock up for tonight. Hey what else is there to do besides eat candy and chocolate and cry your eyes out while watching romantic movies?

I get home around 9, and Katie had gathered blankets, and pillows on the living room. The coffee table was filled with snacks. This girl knows me all too well.

"I brought the dessert!" I said as I raise the bag.

"Ahhh! What did you bring meh?!"

"Chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate!"

"YAY! Oh before I forget, someone sent you something!" She says with a smile on her face.

"I didn't open it obviously! The curiosity is killing me though!"

"Of course it is!" I said laughing

I open the box and it's a dozen roses. I had never received roses from anyone before, ever.

"These are beautiful!" As I lift them in my hand and smell them.

"Who are they from?!"

"Here's the card" I lift the card and open it.

You're the most beautiful girl I've ever laid eyes on. I know this wasn’t the way I had planned this day and I don’t know where we stand but I wanted to wish you a Happy Valentine's Day and most importantly good luck on your exams! ;)

Tears were coming down of my eyes like waterfalls. I couldn't stop smiling.

"This kid is going to kill me one day I swear" as I try to wipe away my tears. "I'm such a mess" as I sit on the counter. Placing my face in my hands.

"Come here!" She says as she hugs me. "You two are the craziest couple ever! You deserve each together!"

As she pulls out of the hug "Wait...DD is Reilly right?!" With a confused look on her face.

"What? No, it's that guy I work with..."

Katie's face was priceless. I bursted out laughing after a few seconds. I couldn't keep a straight face.

"Of course it's Reilly!" Laughing so hard at her reaction.

"You little shit! I was gonna say! What does he mean you can’t keep a straight face, you did a decent job just now.” She laughs.

“I’ve gotten better”

“DD? Is that like a nickname you two made up? Does it have another meaning, like you know-"

"Ok stop! Of course not, you purve! He was DD the other night when he drove everyone home after all you guys went out silly!" Slightly hitting her on the head.

"Oh right! That was a rough night for me..." Recalling what had happened.

"A little bit.” I laugh “Wait he said my jokes are lame?! Little shit!"

"Well they are kinda lame...sometimes...well most of the time" as she tries to keep a straight face.

"Okay then, you see all of this chocolate...it is mine. Don't you dare think about touching it."

I threw one towards her. "You can have that one."

"Woof!" I start laughing!

"Let's put in a movie shall we? The Notebook?!" I suggest

"Classic! Let’s do it."
