A Favor for a Friend

Chapter 14

"You can pick a movie. I will go get snacks." he said and walked out of the living room and went to the kitchen.

I got up and grabbed the remote off the table. I flipped through the movies that were recorded. There were more than you could imagine. I wanted to watch them all,

Finally I stopped at one. The Little Rascals. I smiled a little, I hadn't seen that movie in years. I didn't even have to look any farther.

"Did you find one?" he asked coming back with bags of chips, popcorn and things like that.

"I hope you don't expect me to eat all of that." I said wide eyed.

“No, I couldn’t expect you to keep up with me.” He laughed.

“Oh, do I sense a challenge?” I said putting the remote down.

“Only if you think it is.” He said swinging his leg over the back of the couch and sitting down next to me.

I grabbed a bag of potato chips out of his arms and opened them. I shoved one in my mouth. “We are watching this.” I said with my mouth full, pressing play on the remote.

“I’ve never seen this.” He said looking over at the television.

“How could you not have seen this?! It is probably one of my favorite movies ever.” I said scooting back a little and crossing my legs as I ate a few more chips.

“I just never have. I don’t know.” He shrugged.

“Then shush. Watch the movie.” I said slapping his arm a little but not hard.

“Ok, I will.” He said taking a handful of popcorn and eating it.

The movie went on and it was better than I remembered. I hadn’t seen it in probably seven or more years.

“This is my favorite part.” I giggled. It was the part where they sabotaged Alfalfa and Darla’s lunch. I couldn’t help but laugh a little through the entire scene. Olli looked over at me like I was crazy.

“You really think it is that funny?” he asked me with an amused smile.

“Yes. Don’t you get it? A sandwich.” I said snickering a little.

“But its kitty litter.” He said as a smile spread across his face.

“So you do think it’s funny!” I pointed at him.

“I think it’s funny that you think it’s so funny.” He replied.

“Admit it, its adorable.” I rolled my eyes.

“Maybe I think you’re adorable.” He said softly.

“You would be lying.” I said looking back at the television.

“Whatever you say.” He leaned back and continued watching the movie.

Throughout the night we probably watch at least four more movies. It was quiet until the movies were over and we had to choose a new one. The other movies included Matilda, Lilo and Stich, and lastly Mean Girls. I didn’t give Olli a choice on that one. He didn’t complain though. Not even when I quoted lines from the movie through the whole thing.

“One more.” I yawned and rubbed my eyes. I knew I would probably fall asleep during it.

“You look like you’re going to pass out.” He said.

“I will be fine.” I said blinking a few times as I went through the list of movies.

“The Lion King! Oh my god!” I said sitting up and clicking the select button multiple times.

Olli just laughed at my immaturity. He was extremely patient for dealing with me all night long. His phone rang a moment later. “Hold on, it’s Jussi.” He said as he got up to take the call.

“Hey…… No you didn’t wake me up….. Watching a movie…. Yeah, with Aliyah…. When will you be back?.... Alright… Sounds good, bye.” He said and hung up the phone.

“How wasted are they?” I said as he say back down.

“Very. He had to get a cab. He will be back in about half an hour.” He said.

“Ok. I’m starting the movie now though.” I said curling back up in the blanket.

“Fine with me.” He said as he sat back.

I admit it, that movie made me cry every time. Every time Simba’s father died. No matter how many times I have been it.

“Are you crying?” Olli said surprised when he looked over.

“Yes!” I squeaked and stared at the screen. “Why did he have to die?!” I grabbed the sleeve of Olli’s sweat shirt, “Just why?!”

“It is just a movie, there is nothing we can do about it.” He said still watching me.

“I know, and I hate it.” I groaned, leaning on his shoulder.

He bit his lip a little and turned his attention back to the movie. I started watching again too. I started falling asleep then, my eye lids felt like they weight a million pounds. I fell asleep a few minutes later, before Jussi even got back from the bar or where ever they were. Who are we kidding though? They went to a bar.
