Still There For Me

For the month of December we have decided on staying in Cole Harbour for the entire month seeing as there is no progress happening. Sidney will be coming up in a week so he can finish training and then will join us here with the dogs. I'm not looking forward to saying goodbye to him yet but I guess it's what I'll have to deal with for now.

He drove us to the airport with all of our luggage and helped me take the kids out. I had Ty in a stroller and Kylie was holding on after she said goodbye to her daddy, so I could say goodbye to him. "Have fun manning down the fort," he smirked, trying to make the situation lighter.

"I'll try my hardest. Good luck finishing your training. I'll have everything set up for when you come home."

"Thanks babe. Have a safe flight, love you."

"Love you too," I said giving him a quick kiss and rushing out of the area.

The flight to Toronto was a pretty quick and the kids were great but it was the layover and the flight to Nova Scotia that really killed the kids. On almost every plane ride there is that one kid is screaming their head off and disturbing the whole plane. Well, that was my kids. Kylie started getting fussy which caused Ty to go off and together I had a symphony of screaming children.

Never in my life was I so pleased to be off of a plane.

**Sidney's POV**
After I got the text from Ashley that they landed safely and that my kids were nuts I knew I had to facetime her and see what really went on. I was beat but I knew she'd be trying to put the kids to bed so i figured I'd turn on the TV and wait. Typical Ashley had it on an Entertainment News Channel so I figured I'd watch a little bit.

"Oh look, there I am again."

"Trouble in paradise for Sidney Crosby? Not only is the season not running but it looks like his girlfriend Ashley is. The couple were seen at the airport saying goodbye to each other and awkwardness was evident. As seen in the pictures here their daughter Kylie was sad to leave her daddy and the couple showed no emotion. On the plane ride it is reported that the kids were hysterically crying after being ripped away from their father. An insider says Ashley looked visibly upset and stressed out without her man with her."

"This is absolute horse shit," I flipped off the TV. My phone started to go off indicating she was calling me on FaceTime. "Hi beautiful."

"Hey Sid!" she replied in a cheery voice. "What ya doing?"

"Watching our relationship fall apart on TV you?"

"That made the press?"

"Yeah, and apparently so did the kids melt down on the plane. How was that?"

"Sid it was so embarrassing and I cannot believe that happened. I know that kids will be kids and that things happen but at the same time why did they have to do that now? Like Kylie was crying because she was uncomfortable and then Ty started crying because she was crying and they just wouldn't stop. Thankfully the plane wasn't too full but oh my gosh I was relieved to land."

"And where are you now?"

"At our house. I'm going over to my parents tomorrow and having dinner there since we don't have groceries. I'll probably get some tomorrow and the day after that."

"That's good then."

"How was your workout?"

"Intense. I'm so tired and sore."

"I know you are. Go for a Jacuzzi and you'll be fine."

"Oh I will," I laughed, fiddling with a box I had picked up today. We talked for a while and then I hung up. There was a knock at my door and I rushed to get it. Who could be coming over at this time of night?

"Hey doll."

"Alexia, what are you doing here?"

"I came to comfort you. I saw that you and your girlfriend broke up so I came to make you feel better," she smirked.

"Thanks but we didn't break up, she just went home for a little while. I'll be going up at the end of the week."

"Oh, well that's fine then. Want a massage?"

Should I? I thought. I know I promised Ashley but she doesn't need to know. Plus we haven't found anyone yet. What's the harm in that? "Sure."

"Okay let's go upstairs," she smirked, taking off her jacket and leaving it on the floor.

**1 Week Later**
I got off the plane at the airport and waited for my dads car. Once I saw him a smile landed on my face and I got excited. I got in and we went over the basics with him like how the flight was, how training is going, if I missed the kids, the norm. I was caught off guard when he asked, "let me see the ring."

I grinned really big and held open the box. I was really proud of this one since I knew it was something she really wanted and would love. "What do you think?"

"I think it's a great choice. She'll love it. When are you planning on doing it?"

"No idea. When the time is right I guess."

"Just don't fuck it up."

"Thanks for the advice," I laughed. "Typical dad move."

"Well what can I say? I don't know what to say," he laughed.

"That's a first!"

I put the ring in my pocket and saw Kylie playing in the snow with Ashley watching in her snow gear and Ty in his. They looked so cute. I heard her yell, "daddy's home!" and Kylie got so excited. I couldn't see Ty's face seeing as it was so covered up but I figured he'd be somewhat happy to see me.

"Daddy!"

"Hi princess! Were you playing in the snow?"

"Yes."

"Only cuz we just got here from grocery shopping," Ashley said coming up to kiss me.

"I'll help you with the dogs," Troy said.

"Pa!" Kylie squealed, not noticing Troy was there.

"Hi Kylie, I'll see you in a moment!"

"Doggies!" she yelled seeing the two girls in their carrier. She absolutely loves the dogs to
death. She had a field day with my old dog Sam last time we were home. Mainly because Sam is big enough for her not to pick up.

"You're such a happy little girl." I couldn't believe the moment I was having right now with my family. Now I feel where I belong, with my family experiencing life and doing the little things. Do I feel guilty for what happened back home while they were away? Kind of. But what they don't know won't hurt them.
