The Moonstone Starlet

Chapter 59

The cab ride to Elia’s hotel was surreal. They sat silently in the back seat, hearts racing but not speaking a word. Jon’s hand stretched over the middle of the seat, lightly brushing against Elia’s hand. It felt like all the energy in the universe was focused on that momentary point of contact. Elia’s breath was short and quick, the anticipation of what was to come building. The sparse street lights sporadically washed over the car, casting rays of light across their faces, across their hands. Jon kept his straight ahead in between quick glances over at her face. Living for the moments the light flashed over her eyes, lighting them up. The gloss of her lips shining. She looked over at him, a smile forming on her face before she looked back out the window. He could kiss her right now, fuck the driver, but he settled for a hand instead.

They got out of the car at the front entrance of the hotel. He placed his hand on the small of her back as they walked, the tips of his fingers finding their way beneath her shirt. She turned to smile at him. Concrete steps led up to a rotunda with potted palms between tall white columns. Some young tourists were standing at the top of the steps smoking cigarettes. They all held up their phones as Elia and Jon walked past, avoiding eye contact. Pictures would be spreading across the internet in minutes, but she didn’t push his hand off. They walked briskly through the lobby, catching an elevator going up just as its doors were about to close. Silence again, staring straight ahead, until the other passengers exited on the fourth floor. Then Jonny’s hands were on her hips, pulling her into him. Every floor they past the elevator dinged, going up, up, up. Jon’s hands were sliding up Elia’s shirt, underneath her bra, his tongue in her mouth. He tasted like tequila. Elia pushed back a moment when they reached the penthouse floor, catching her breath, she whispered, “Just wait a minute, okay? Just follow my lead.”

Quietly they walked out the elevator doors, down to one end of the hallway. There were only two doors on this floor, on either end of the hallway. Two large suites. Elia paused outside her door, listening. She unlocked the door and slowly opened it, peering around. Jon had no idea what she was doing, but couldn’t think it through with the alcohol flowing through his body. When they finally walked into the hotel room it was lit only by the light streaming through the windows. Shadows danced on the walls. Elia was still tiptoeing through the room, but Jon grabbed her from behind, kissing her neck. She turned and asked him to wait, pulling him in the direction of her room. Elia opened the door and let Jonathan walk in, closing and locking the door behind them. The hotel room was either empty at the moment or the other inhabitants were sleeping, but she didn’t want anyone to walk in.

Elia turned to face him, walking slowly up to him. They stood face to face staring at each other. Jon’s lips were open slightly as he looked down into her eyes. He put his hands on her arms, gently rubbing them for a moment before lowering his mouth to hers. It was a soft kiss, unlike the hard passion back in the elevator. He moved his hands slowly from her arms around to her back, pulling her in, kissing her. His hands fell to her waist, his fingers on her skin as he held the edges of her top and pulled it over her head. Elia’s hands landed on his chest and ran down the front of his shirt unbuttoning as Jon held her head kissing her. Finally she was done, and pulled the shirt down over his arms. He reached behind her and unsnapped her bra with one hand as his other hand slid under the now loose bra, cupping her breast. They stumbled over each other’s feet as they made their way to the bed, Jonny lifting her up at the edge and laying her down gently. He unbuttoned the top of her jeans, looking into her eyes as he pulled them off. He ran his hand down her body from her neck, across her breasts and her navel, and landing between her legs and diving under the lingerie. “You’re so wet” he whispered as his hand put slow repeated pressure just where she wanted it.

The pleasure was a tease, as he quickly moved his hand elsewhere, parting her legs to let himself in between them. He pressed into her body, their bare chests against each other as he kissed her. Elia wrapped her arms around his body, dragging her fingers across his back and sliding her hands beneath his pants, pulling him tighter against her. Around his hips she moved, until she could slip her hands down the front of his jeans, caressing the front of his briefs. He moaned lightly before reaching down to pull her hands out. He held them above her head and kissed her down the front of her chest. She felt the warmth of his breath against her nipple before he took it in his mouth, sucking sweetly while holding the other in his hand, his fingers rotating just so lightly, enough that Elia responded audibly. She ran her hands through his hair, pulling slightly as she felt the hardness of his cock beneath his briefs rub against her. Jon kept moving down past her torso now, reaching her thighs. He grabbed her ass as he kissed hard into the inside of her leg. Elia was having trouble breathing, watching as he moved closer towards her underwear, kissing and teasing her as he went. Jon looked up at her, his brown eyes looked black in the dim light of the room, and before she knew it, he pulled the last bit of her clothing off.

Elia lay completely exposed now in the dim light, and Jon came back down her legs to her body, his face landing back where it had been between her legs. His hands wrapped beneath her legs and rest on her hips as his tongue explored her. Light at first, curving around and taking his time, clearly enjoying himself. The faint tip of his tongue turned to a solid surface, putting pressure against her clitoris. He began to push harder and with a heavy rhythm. Back and forth, from the edge of one of her lips to the other. With each motion Elia’s breath quickened, her heart racing, and the warmth between her legs growing. He moved his body slightly, and without breaking rhythm added in his fingers. A gentle touch at first, teasing and circling the bottom edge of her vagina. As he moved back and forth with his tongue he brought his fingers more and more into her. The sensation was almost too much. Just a little deeper… a couple more thrusts… and as she lay there with no other thought than him, on the edge of climax, he withdrew.

Raising slowly, his mouth glistening, Elia begged him to keep going. He got off the bed and Elia could see how hard he was under his pants. She smiled as he locked eyes with her and slowly pulled his pants and underwear off. He got back into bed, lowering himself onto her and lifting up one of her legs. He leaned down to kiss her tenderly on the mouth. While still kissing, he used his hand to push aside her wet lips and slowly slid the head of his cock into her. “Slowly” she said, breaking their kiss. He rocked back and slid forth, a little at a time. Elia could feel bit by bit of him. As wet as she was, she was unprepared for his full cock, the girth of him stretching her out. With every thrust taking him deeper, she sighed and relaxed more and more, until he was all the way in her, and she could feel his skin brushing up against her vagina.
Without thrusting much, Jonny slowly pumped against her. He was hitting all of her buttons, including the most important one. He let out a moan, just as she was. He then started back up again, thrusting in and out of her, harder and harder. She felt him swelling inside her. Jonny’s body stayed close to hers the whole time, their chests skin to skin, one hand on her face and one behind her head. Elia looped her hands under his arms and around his shoulders. The separation between them disappeared, the time they had spent apart, the pain, temporarily forgotten as they made love.

Dawn was coming through the window when Elia woke up. She felt Jonny lying behind her, his face in her neck and his arm around her waist. One of his legs pressed between hers. There was a pounding in her head, and a queasy feeling in her stomach. She carefully climbed out of bed and walked to her bathroom. She filled a glass of water from the sink, drank it down and refilled it. Looking up she saw her reflection in the mirror. Her eye shadow had rubbed off in the night. She splashed some cold water on her face, and washed off the sweat and makeup. Walking back into the bedroom she looked at Jon, trying to make sense of the emotions swirling within her. In her absence, his body had sprawled out in the bed, the blanket up to his waist. Every sinew of muscle outlined in the wakening light. Elia walked into the closet, grabbing random clothes and her jacket. She needed to get some fresh air.

The streets of Sochi were deserted now, in the breaking sunlight. She slipped some buds into her ears and put on some music, jogging down the street. Trying to run off the hangover, trying to tire out the thoughts running through her mind. How do you know when someone is the love of your life? Reality isn’t a fairytale. It’s stressful, it’s long, it’s fast and endless. Was there really one person to share it with? She ran a five kilometer loop, then headed down to the coast. The wind coming off the sea was brisk. A mist was coming off the water and in the distance she could see lights out in the water. She couldn’t tell if they were buoys or ships. She sat down on a large flat stone and pulled her knees to her chest. She folded her arms across her knees and lay her head down, looking out onto the water.

Behind her she heard rocks cascading against each other. Elia turned to see Jonathan walking up behind her, wearing his clothes from the night before. He sat down beside her and put his arm around her shoulder.

“What are you doing out here?” he asked. Elia shrugged. Jon looked out to see with her as the sun came up.
“Reminds me of our runs to Montrose Harbor,” he said, holding her a little tighter. She rested her head on his shoulder. “Do you still wish you could fall off the horizon?” he asked.
Elia thought about it for a minute, then smiled. “No.” she said, “I think I’ve finally found my place on this Earth.”
She turned her head to look at him now. He smiled back at her.
“What happens now?” Elia asked solemnly. The wind blew some hair in front of her face, and Jon carefully tucked it behind her ear.
“You and me, the way it was supposed to be.”
She stared at him silently.
“What has changed?” She asked. Jon sighed and looked down, kicking pebbles off their boulder throne.
“Before, I don’t know. I just...I was afraid. I was scared I couldn’t be the man you deserved. I was afraid I wasn’t enough for you. I was afraid of your friendships with other men.”

Elia scrunched her face in disbelief. “Why? What did I ever do?” She asked.
“It wasn’t you, it was me. Look, El, I have wanted to marry you since the day I met you. You can ask Pat, I told him that day, when you came to practice. I fucked up, but I’ve grown up babe, you can trust me now.” he said.
They looked at each other momentarily. Elia wasn’t smiling anymore. She looked out into the sun.
“I don’t need to trust you,” she said finally. The sun emerged from the clouds now, lighting up the sea. Elia squinted, blocking the sun with her hand as she turned to Jon. He looked back at her confused. Elia cleared her throat.
“I was engaged once. To Joaquin Phoenix. He was my whole world. My everything. My life. When things started to go bad, I knew in my gut it was over. But I was afraid to let go. I literally thought I couldn’t live without him. I was terrified of life without him.” Elia said. She looked up at Jon for a second, before looking down at her feet.
“But I did it. I walked away from him. And to my surprise, I lived. And I told myself I would never let another man make me feel that way, I would never give another man that much...influence over me. I didn’t let anyone get that close again, not until you.” She looked up at Jon.
“And look what you did to me.” She laughed. “The thing is Jon. I know I can live without you.” She stared into his eyes, a strength in her face he hadn’t seen before. “I’ll be fine without you. I’ll survive without you. I know that.” Her face softened then.
“But I don’t want to be without you. I love you so much. You make me better, you’re everything I’m not.” She took his face in her hand and put her forehead against his. He kissed her softly until she pulled away.
“Jon? I don’t need to trust you, because if you ever treat me the way you did before. I’ll fucking leave you. And I will be just fine.”
Her jaw was firm, and her one eyebrow raised. Elia’s serious face. There was only one thing for him to say. He reached into his pocket.
“I know.” he said. “But I won’t. I lived without you too, and I don’t ever want to do that again. I want you to be my wife.”
He took her hand and placed a small moonstone ring in it. Elia nodded, and Jon slipped the ring on her finger. Jon pulled her legs onto his lap and wrapped his arms around her. They held each other tight as the sun rose higher into the sky, never to be parted again.
