Reunion

Madeline broke down, she didn't know what to do. She just walked into Jake Gardiner, and Morgan's apartment and completely broke down. Morgan picked her up and gently laid her down on the couch as he pulled her close to him. She knew she should stop crying, this boy practically told her, he had been in love with her all these years, they were practically a couple and here she was breaking down over the guy she just broke up with. This situation was fucked up. How did this happen? "Mads it's going to be okay, everything will be ok." Morgan stroked her hair with his hand, as he tried to calm her down. She tried to stop crying, but she couldn't.
************************************************************
When Morgan got the call from Madeline that she and Aaron had ended their three year relationship, he knew he had to be her best friend, not the guy that was in love with her. She needed her best friend, and he was going to be there for her. "You can stay here tonight, if you want to." He didn't know what to say or what to do to fix this mess that the three of them were in. And he didn't know if Madeline had made the choice to be with him, it was all just too messy. Dylan was right, why couldn't he had fallen in love with a girl who was completely free and single. Maybe his heart would ache less.
************************************************************
Aaron inhaled the smell of the ice, the best smell in the entire world. He laced his skates, threw on his helmet and turned the bucket holding fresh frozen pucks on it's side as the pucks cascaded onto the perfectly zambonied ice. This is where he did his thinking, the Markham rink. It was quiet at night, no one here but him and the net. He regretted everything. He wished he could take everything back. His pompous attitude, the draft, him sleeping with Claudia, Mads sleeping with Rielly. He wished they could go back to the way it used to be, the two of them in his bed, cuddling the night away as they fell asleep to the O.C their favorite show. He joked that they were Seth and Summer, but maybe they weren't supposed to be together forever, maybe their forever expired. Maybe they were Ryan and Marissa. Maybe they were supposed to be together for a little but have the most explosive first love. Because Madeline will always be his first love, she taught him how to love. He missed her. "Ekblad shoots and he scores. The Crowd goes wild, the Panthers win the cup." He said through the tears rushing down his face. He slumped down on the ice, as he looked up at the ceiling. Everyone wrote something on the ceiling, when they did the renovation. He stared at Madeline's handwriting. "May this rink, adorn many more of our memories, and this be the place Aaron and me bring the cup home too. Because we know that JT, Stammer, Piets, Cody, MDZ and my brothers suck." He laughed. It hurt. His whole body was numb. He needed her.
****************************************************
Madeline couldn't stay at Morgan's, she told him she needed a few days just to collect her thoughts. Clear up her mind, and her head. She didn't know why she was driving to the Markham rink, but there she was parked in a spot. The only other one there was Aaron's, and the owners. He always came here when he needed to think, and she always did the same. They would lay on the bench and just inhale the best smell in the world. They would pretend they won the cup, or just do 1 on 1's and someone always ended up in the penalty box. She got out of the car, and looked down at what she was wearing. Nike shorts, with a Toronto Maple Leafs sweatshirt, and Jack Rogers, she looked so gorgeous, not. She walked through the empty lobby admiring the pictures of the Markham NHL boys. Her brothers draft photos staring back at her. Aaron's hadn't been hung yet. She walked into the rink, and there he was. She didn't talk, she didn't breathe, she just stood there, at the door that she couldn't open. She was just paralyzed. "What are you doing here Mads, how am I supposed to get over you if your everywhere." Aaron had his back to her, as he practiced his slap shot. "A." Madeline muttered as she started crying again. She opened the door to the bench and stood there looking at his beautiful hazel eyes. "Mads." He said it in that tone, her tone. It was reserved for her nickname. She opened the door to the ice and walked on, and into his arms. She couldn't stop crying as she got his Panthers sweatshirt soaked. He picked her up and set her down on the boards, in front of the bench.

"I want another chance, I fucked up, you fucked up. I want to be us again Madeline, Mads your the best thing I ever had, give me another chance. Please. Please Madeline Gilmore, please. I need you, all of you, your mine. I can't do this without you, I can't handle life without you." Aaron looked at her as his lips crashed against hers, their tongues, old friends. She ran her hands through his hair as he wrapped his arms around her. "I am the only girl in your life, that's the only way this is going to work. I need to trust you Aaron." She didn't trust him, there had been girls scattered across their three year relationship. Claudia wasn't the first. "I know, I love you Mads, I can't lose you again, I just can't. I need you." He pushed his forehead to hers. As she looked into him. "I am sorry, I am sorry A." She said as she buried her head into her boyfriend. "For everything. Can we start over? Because my heart says yes but my head says no. And my head really needs to start following my heart." He nodded. "Let's start over." She smirked. "Hey I am Madeline Gilmore, Boston College Women's hockey alternate captain, nice to meet you." He laughed. "Hi I am Aaron Ekblad, Barrie Colts defenseman. Let's date." She laughed as he kissed her neck. "Alright, I guess. Are you going to the Chel?" She laughed even more. "Maybe, maybe not. Maybe I'll just spend another year in Barrie, and visit my gorgeous girlfriend as much as I can." She liked that idea. "Well can you and your gorgeous girlfriend, make a McDonalds run, I need fries, a diet coke and a Mcflurry." He smirked as he kissed her again. It was like their lips were made for each other.

"Yeah I guess we can. If you promise to kiss me every day, all day long." He took off his sweatshirt revealing his muscular chest, his abs that she died for, and a bandage on the left side of the top of his chest. "Yes, Yes, Yes." She said giggling as he picked her up and she wrapped her legs around his waist. "Don't drop me." Madeline wrapped her arms around his neck as he skated around the rink, stopping, and starting as she held on. She really didn't feel like having more bruises on her, her heart had enough covering it. "Forever and Always Madeline Gilmore, Forever and Always." She nodded as she kissed him. "What's this?" She said touching the bandage, he winced. "I told you, Forever and Always." He took the bandage off revealing a tattoo. A fucking tattoo, that read "Forever and Always you and me MG." She gasped. "I can't believe you Aaron." She said as she unraveled herself from him and stared at it. She looked up at him. And kissed it. He winced. "Your unreal Ekblad." She threw his sweatshirt at him as he smirked coming onto the bench with her. "I am full of surprises." He had gotten it yesterday, he didn't tell her. "Maybe you'll get lucky tonight." She said whispering into his ear, as she closed the door to the bench and leaned against the wall as he unlaced his skates. "Yeah maybe, Mickey D's then my place? OC, and you and me." He kissed her as she leaned against the wall. Her lips were his drug. "We're so predictable." She said as she smiled. "I'd rather be predictable, then unstable." He started walking as he pulled her out of the rink and into his truck. "Aaron." She said as he looked over at her. "Yeah?" He stared into her brown chocolate eyes. "You have my heart, you always did and you always will." She kissed him then put on her seatbelt. "You have mine." And for the reminder of the ride, they didn't talk, they just drove to McDonalds, his hand entangled in hers. He got his wish. She had her ending.
