Peekaboo

The Start of the Quest

The small group of the five Blackhawks set out into the forest. The sun, casting down its gorgeous bright rays, warmed the landscape around them, as they happily trotted down a path that was marked on the map Patrick had been given by the princesses.

The place known as Avondale was so peaceful and serene that Patrick, for a moment, didn’t want to return to Chicago and the noisy, bustling metropolis. He didn’t mind the chirps of bird song and the warm rays of a temperate climate. He preferred it over the traffic and stressful living conditions of a deteriorating Earth.

"We're goin' on a quest! We're goin' on a quest!" Andrew was singing. "Hi ho, oh laddy doe, we're goin' on a quest!"

"Well, this is the first time I heard you singing, Shawzy," Adam told the dog.

Andrew looked up at the horse. "Yes, I somehow got the urge to sing...I dunno why..."

"Don't worry, I sang." Patrick raised his hand.

"Oh yea, I'll never forget that!" Andrew started snickering.

Patrick just rolled his eyes. He looked down at his silver hockey stick in his two hands. He desperately missed playing on the ice with it. When he had hit the puck back in the palace, it had felt right and amazing. He only felt like this when he was playing his sport. If he wasn't playing, then there was no point in his presence on Earth. He always felt good on the ice.

"I'm wondering, when are we gonna leave this place?" Sharp asked. "I mean, once we get Jonathan, then what would happen?"

"Well, we gotta save the kingdom," Patrick replied, looking up at his teammate that was on a horse. "Weren't you listening?

"Yea, but after we save the kingdom, what do we do?" Brandon asked.

"We go back to Chicago since our work would be done here..." Patrick was tentative about that sentence. Was that what would happen?

"And how would we get back there?" Sharp questioned.

"Ack, look, you guys, I don't know how we'll get back to Chicago, but I'm sure that the princesses'll know how to get us back!"

"I hope so...'cause I'm not planning on riding on my friend's back for the rest of my life."

"I'm hoping not!" Adam told Sharp.

"But you are a good horse!" Sharp scruffed Adam's mane.

"Ahhh!!! Don't do that!" He shook his head, trying to get Sharp's hand off of him.

"When we get back to Chicago, will I turn back to myself?" Andrew asked.

"I think you will." Patrick nodded his head, looking at the dog with inquiring eyes.

"I hope."

There was some uncomfortable silence that followed as they continued on, passing over a small creek with crystal clear water like the lake.

"How long 'till we get to Nemo's lair?" Brandon asked, looking at the mountains that were miles and miles away from them.

"I dunno." Patrick scratched his head. "I know it's gonna take more than a day for sure...maybe three, four, I'm not sure."

"Oh man, this is gonna take awhile... Tazer might be dead by then!" Sharp shook the reins he was holding on to for a moment.

"No, no, I don't think Nemo wants to kill Tazer... Maybe he just took him away to make me come after him."

"What, he couldn't ride his own dragon himself?" Adam, the horse questioned.

Patrick halted, making everyone else halt with him. He grabbed Adam by the reins that were on his head. He gazed deeply into the horse's eyes. "Well, I can't picture Tazer dying, that's all... I don't wanna talk about that, I just hope that he'll be strong and take care and defend for himself." He let go of his friend and turned away, gripping the stick.

"He should, he's the captain of the Blackhawks!" Adam pointed out.

"That is right..." Brandon added.

They continued on down the path, coming to the top of a hill, where a row of trees lined the side of a small clearing. There was a few more moments of silence between the Blackhawks, until Andrew broke it. He paused in his step.

"I'm hungry," he moaned.

"No...really?" Sharp cried.

"I'm not kidding..."

"I doubt it that there's a restaurant in the forest..." Patrick looked around his surroundings, only seeing trees and lots of greenery and foliage.

"Don't worry, you'll make it through, Shawzy," Brandon said.

"Hey, I'm hungry, too," Adam told Sharp.

"What?" Patrick groaned. "How are we gonna get food here?"

"Uhhh...you got food in the sack..." Andrew said.

Patrick took the sack from Adam's back and peered inside it. "There's only enough food for one day... Hmmm..."

"We should save that for an emergency though," Brandon contemplated, half to himself.

Singing began to echo through the forest.

"Who's singing now?" Sharp asked, looking around.

"It seems to be coming from over there!" Andrew began to run toward the sounds of the cheerful singing, disappearing into the woods.

"Wait, Andrew, come back!!!" Patrick sped down into the forest, running behind Andrew; Sharp and Adam followed with Brandon.

Patrick stumbled out of the forest, coming into a halt in front of a building that reminded him of a shack. It looked like it was going to fall down any moment, because it looked so unstable with wooden plants sticking out of the walls and roof. Behind the shack was a huge tree, contributing to the sight that the building was going to fall. It was colored brown with a hint of maroon and the windows were all bright, showing the players that inside was lively and blithesome. There were horses hanging outside of the shack, drinking water and looking around, since they looked like they couldn't fit inside the small door to the huge architecture. The shack was gated by tiny wooden planks sticking out of the dying grass; right next to the entrance was a sign hanging from a long wooden pole, which was a sheep flying carved out of wood. On the bottom of the sign, it read in viking-like writing: 'The Unlucky Sheep'.

"'The Unlucky Sheep'? Who the heck names their restaurant that?" Adam made a confused look.

"I don't know, but let's go check it out--there must be lots of people in there." Patrick began making his way to the shack with Brandon.

"I'm coming as well." Sharp jumped off of Adam. "I'm sorry, my friend, but you're gonna have to stay out here with the rest of your kind." He tied the reins to a wooden plank that was part of the gate.

"Why do I have to be the horse?" Adam muttered to himself.

"Hey, you'll do fine here. Have fun." Sharp patted his back and walked over to Andrew, Brandon, and Patrick, entering the shack.

Notes

Oh yes! I hoped you enjoyed this chapter! The Unlucky Sheep...that's actually a character of mine I drew a lot in 7th and 8th grade. It's just a sheep that had unlucky adventures and made people around it be unlucky as well... XD Uh oh... 8|

Okay, what do you consider to be Disney then, eh? And this is a fanfic and fanfics are stories that can be written about anything, even ideas and themes that aren't the author's, so we can't be sued. Thanks for commenting, but why don't you keep your rude comments to yourself because in here, we are friends and we don't spread hate. So answer the question of mine or leave.
