One Shots

Sidney Crosby

Sidney stood in shock. He hadn't seen her in years, not since he moved away for hockey. She looked the same, but different. Her brown hair was the same colour, but only past her shoulders. It wasn't down to her waist like it was when they were young. Her deep brown eyes were the same, only darker as she looked into his. She had filled out more. Her face was more defined, her body was more curved.

Her soft lips stayed pressed together. They moved and her harmonic voice sounded. "It's been a while." She sounded nervous.

He nodded. "Yeah," His voice cracked. "It has been." He cleared his throat.

She waited for more to come out of him. He just stood, avoiding eye contact with a lot of force.

She took a deep breath, squeezing her eyes shut. "Are you going to pretend I'm just another fan you don't want to interact with?" Her words were venomous.

Sid shook his head. All he wanted was to interact with her, but no words would come out. "I'm just nervous." He blurted.

"Of what?" The corner of her mouth lifted a bit.

He swallowed the lump in his throat. "Of seeing you. I don't know how to be around you." He admitted.

She sighed, grabbing his left bicep. "Just be Sid." She whispered.

They sat in the same diner they'd been on a thousand dates to before. The waitresses were still the same older ladies, now elderly, who knew the young pair sitting in the same booth. Sidney examined the diner. She watched him. His eyes met hers. She smiled.

He leaned back. He placed both his elbows on top of the booth's seat. "Nothing's changed here in the last ten years. Unbelievable." He chuckled while shaking his head.

She rolled her eyes at him. "Nothing about Cole Harbour has changed, Sidney." She leaned forward, resting her elbows on the table.

He looked into her dark eyes. "Everything changes, Tim." He stated.

She laughed. He earned a head shake from her. "Sorry, Mr. NHL, but you're wrong. A lot of things stay the same." She sat back against the booth.

"Are you saying you haven't changed?" He challenged.

"Nope." She shrugged.

"Yes, you have, Timara. Your hair is shorter, and you weren't as slim as you are now." Sidney pointed out.

She rolled her eyes once again. "I'm still the same person."

"Oh, I know." He smirked.

She glared at him with a smile on her face. He watched her as she played with her fingers. He wondered what she was thinking about. Was it him? He secretly hoped she still thought of him, because that was always on his mind. Her.

After the pair ate, they decided to take a stroll through their town. They walked side by side. He kept his eyes on her the entire time. She kept her head down. The glow from the street lights shined on her. Snowflakes landed in her hair and on her eyelashes. She looked beautiful.

Her head lifted. Their eyes connected. He gave her a small smile before lacing his fingers with hers. She looked at their hands before her eyes trailed back to his stare. He gave her a nod, as if reassuring her. She returned the nod and turned her focus back to the snow covered ground.

They made it to Timara's house. They stood on the doorstep like two fifteen year olds on a first date. She looked up at him and laughed a bit. He cocked a brow.

She looked back down. "I was just thinking about how we became friends." She explained as she looked up at him.

Sidney smiled. He thought back to the day in kindergarten. "Mrs. Thompson pointed out that I spelled my name with an 'I' instead of a 'Y' and that you spelled yours with an 'I' instead of an 'A'." He sighed. "Best day of my life."

Timara felt her face flush. His eyes were burning into her. She looked back up and matched his stare. Before either one could think, they were leaning into each other.

Their lips touched for the first time in years. The kiss was full of passion. It was long overdue. Sidney's hands grabbed onto her waist. Timara's hands held onto the collar of his jacket. What happened next, what more than expected. Both parties would be lying if they said they weren't hoping for this outcome. She rested her head against his bare chest, an arm draped over him. His right arm wrapped around her waist while his fingers played with her hair. His other hand rested on her hip. Their legs were tangled together.

She tipped her head up to look at him. He was staring straight ahead. "Sid?" She piped up.

He looked down at her and pressed his lips to her forehead. She closed her eyes. She took a deep breath before opening them again.

"Where does this leave us?" She whispered.

He was taken back by the question. He hadn't thought about it. "Together, I hope." He blurted out before he could think.

Timara sighed. She rolled off her bed, taking a sheet with her. Sidney kept one over his lower body. She sat at the edge of her bed.

She had loved Sid since they were kids, but she didn't think she could handle the NHL aspect of his life. She didn't want to move and she didn't want to constantly worry.

"Tim," He breathed. "I don't want you to feel pressured."

"I want to be with you, Sidney, but I can't be." She told him as she looked at the ground.

"Why?" He looked at her. She just sat, not making a sound, not moving one bit. "Timara, why?" His voice boomed.

She spun around to face him. "You know why, Sid."

He shook his head. "No, I really don't." He laughed. "We're both grown adults, with steady incomes, and the ability to travel, and go to and from as we please." He ranted.

"Because I don't want that, Sidney! I don't want to have to schedule myself into your life whenever it's convenient! I want all your attention!" She yelled.

"Timara, I'll give you all that I can. I need you to work with me a little bit." He said in his normal, calm demeanour.

She shook her head. Her eyes began to water. "I can't."

Sidney stated at her in disbelief. She just looked down. He took a deep breath before he flipped the sheet off of him. He found his boxers and pulled them up. He grabbed his other articles of clothing and put them on as he made his way to her bedroom door. He yanked it open.

Timara jumped at the sound of the slam. She sat still before falling back on her bed. She stared at the ceiling before the tears came. She hated herself for what she just did, but she knew it needed to be done.

Weeks past. Before Sid or Tim could even think, it was time for him to head back to Pittsburgh for training since the lock out was over. He packed his things up the night before he had to leave for his flight. He thought about going to see Timara, but he didn't think she cared anymore. He let out a sigh as he lay in his bed. He missed her.

Lisa stared at Timara in disbelief. "I think you should at least talk to him before he leaves." She expressed.

Timara shook her head. "I wouldn't know what to say." She admitted.

"Uh, how about something along the lines of 'Sid, I've been in love with you since we were seventeen. I need you'?" Her friend suggested.

"I can't tell him. He's leaving." Tim sighed.

Lisa rolled her eyes. "Stop being a baby! You could go visit him!" She shouted. "The guy's loaded! He could buy you you're own plane!"

"Lise,"

"Go to his house to say bye, at least." Lisa attempted to bargain.

Timara took a deep breath. "Okay. Just to say goodbye."

Sidney opened his front door to see the last person he was expecting. She swallowed hard as she looked up at him. His mouth hesitate as he tried to process something to say. She took a deep breath.

"Hey." Was all that came out of him.

Timara exhaled. "Hi. I just thought we could hang out as old friends before you leave tomorrow." She explained.

"Yeah, definitely. Come in." He stepped beside the door to let her in.

She stepped inside, wiping her feet. He closed the door and watched her. She unzipped her boots then placed them on Sidney's shoe rack which was lacking shoes. Her coat slid off her arms and he took it from her, hanging it on the coat rack.

"Thanks." She muttered as she looked him over.

He had a tight, black, long sleeve shirt with silver outlining his torso and on the wrists of the shirt. He paired it with some track pants and a baseball cap. She loved him in baseball caps.

"So, did you have a good time?" She asked, making her way towards the couch.

She sat down. He joined her. They were silent. She knew how his time had gone. She was the one who ruined it, after all.

"Did you, uh, enjoy seeing you family? Spending time with Tay, your parents, and your friends?" She added to her question.

"Yeah, that's always nice. I get pretty lonely out in Pittsburgh." He stated.

She felt like it was a shot at her for refusing to visit him. She knew she should but she didn't want to believe he was who he was. She was upset that he left to build this other persona. She liked to believe Sid wasn't always going to go where or how far as he did, but she also didn't know why she questioned it. She had always believed in him. He was her star.

She let out a sigh. "I'm sorry, Sid." She blurted. He furrowed his brows at her. "I don't know why I reacted how I did that night. It was great. I jus,"

"You should probably go. I have to be up early." He interrupted, looking at the ground. "Nice of you to see me before I left. Take care."

He stood and made the way to his stairs. He climbed up them and straight to his room. She sat on the couch in disbelief. She was trying to apologize and he did that?

Truth be told, Sidney was over the apologies he always received from the girls who hurt him. Sure, all of the other ones were because they used him for fame or money. Tim's was because she was mad he left. She was mad he left and felt bad for being angry. He thought she should have felt bad for a while, but walking out of her house after their night together, made him understand.

Timara stood up and walked up the stairs. She threw his bedroom door open. He was sat on his bed, sadness over his face. She was livid. Livid and hurt. She wanted to apologize to him for being selfish, but she was angry that he would just walk away.

"What do you want from me, Sidney?!" She shouted. "One minute, you're begging me to come back to Pittsburgh with you and the next, you're walking away from me when I try to apologize for being a total ass?"

Sid shook his head. He could feel his eyes watering. He looked down. She watched as he brought his hands to his face. She knew what that meant. She let out a silent sigh and sat beside him, wrapping an arm around her waist as she rested her head on his shoulder.

"Talk to me." She whispered.

"I don't want to be alone anymore, Tim." He breathed out. "I'm constantly around reporters or my team mates or fans or someone, and I still feel alone."

"Why, Sid?" She asked in the same hushed tone.

He looked up, turning his head towards hers. His glossy eyes met hers. "Because you're not with me." He said.

She felt herself choke up. He watched her ass her eyes began to flood. She buried her face in his shoulder. His arm away from her reached around, resting on her upper arm. He pressed his lips to the top of her head.

"Just say you're mine so I won't feel that way anymore." He explained to her. "Please don't let me go again. I'm tired of feeling alone."

Timara sat up. She looked into Sidney's eyes before pressing her lips to his. He kissed back, his hands finding her neck while hers held onto his face. They broke apart, staying forehead to forehead.

"I won't."
