AAOOOSC!: The Mission

Chapter 26

The next morning, after eating breakfast, of course, all of the GHP starts heading out to the EHP HQs. They arrive there in the desert-like area, looking up at the place they never wanted to go into again.
"So...what's the plan?" Pekka asks the Master.
"I go in first and start fighting Kari. Then if Kari calls in his sidekicks, you guys come in." Patrick answers, gazing at the building.
"But if Kari never calls in his mean sidekicks?" Sidney questions.
The Blackhawk shifts his gaze at the Penguin."Stay out here unless I call you guys to help me."
"But wait--!" Sidney blinks for a moment. "--we're suppose to fight Kari together, not you against him all alone!"
"I'm not fighting against him all alone--you guys are gonna help me if I start getting into trouble." Patrick pats Sidney's head. "Alright, I should go now! Wish me luck!" He then began walking towards the headquarters all alone.
"So now what do we do?" Brad asks with a cocked eyebrow, looking at where the Blackhawk just walked into.
"We wait," Pekka answers.
"For maybe a loooooong time," Sidney adds in.
Jonas pops open a bag of chips and holds it out to his group. "Chips?"
Jonathan eyes the bag with a disgusted look. "We just ate breakfast."
He just shrugged and starts eating the chips by himself.
"How would we know if Patrick's in trouble?" Sidney asks.
"If we hear a scream," Jonathan remarks with crossed arms.
"How do we know if the evil sidekicks come in?" Nathan asks.
"If see them going into the headquarters." The Kings' goalie rolls his eyes.
"What about the army?" Brad points out. "You know, the army that we had to fight against with when we first came here?"
"Uhhh..." Everyone exchanges a look; Pekka, Jonathan, and Jonas are aware of the army since the others told them about it.
"We should go help out Patrick to get outta here as quick as possible." Sidney sticks his thumb behind his shoulder, pointing to the HQs.
"Yea, good idea," Nathan tells him. The two begins running towards the headquarters, shouting Patrick's name. The rest of the GHP follows after them.
They are about to enter the headquarters when the entrance gets quickly wrapped up by a black, stretchy rope, so they have to come to a halt.
"What the--?" Nathan makes a confused look.
Ryan's head pops out from the tangle of black. "Password, please."
"What, there's a password‽" Sidney cries, throwing his hans in the air. "I wasn't aware of this!"
The Canuck makes a sound of a buzzer with his voice: "Errr! Wrong!"
"We don't have to time to crack a password!" Pekka exclaims.
"Alright then, good bye!" He smirks.
"EHP!" Sidney yells.
"Errr!"
"Evil Hockey Players' Society!"
"Errr!"
"NHL!"
"Errr!"
"We want the NHL!"
"Errr!"
"We are evil!"
"Errr!"
"We are very, very mean!"
"Errr!"
"Boo you!"
"Errr!"
Sidney scrunches his face up, attempting to make an intimidating look. "Grrr?"
"Errr!"
"Let us in!!!"
"Errr!"
"Move outta the way or else you'll get your head blown off!" Brad cuts off harshly, pointing his gun straight at Ryan.
"You're actually gonna tigger that thing at me?" the Canuck asks with raised eyebrows.
"Oh, you know me, Miller!" The Bruin turns on the gun; it starts humming, notifying everyone that it's on.
"Oh...dear, he's not kidding!" Ryan begins to bring himself down and drops to the ground like a big, flimsy piece of rubber.
Brad shoots the now empty doorway, showing Ryan that what he thought was right.
He walks through the hallway, stepping on Ryan, who is now like a rug. "If it doesn't work, blow it up." Brad turns to look at his group and winks.
"Thanks for being so daring," Pekka says, walking in as well along with the rest of the society.
They stroll further down the hallway, beginning to hear the yells and shouts of the fight going on echoing off the walls.
"It sounds chaotic in there" Sidney exclaims.
Nathan looks at his friend. "I hope he's fine." He then turns back around, facing the door and gets startled.
Standing in the middle of the doorway, blocking the entrance of the main room is a forcefield; the one in control of the forcefield is Henrik, who is standing in front of it.
"Is there another password we need to crack?" Jonathan asks with crossed arms and a bored look.
"Nope, it's either you're in the EHP or not," Henrik begins. "And I do not sense that you're part of the EHP, so you cannot gain access to the other side of the beautiful forcefield of mine. I am sorry, but please turn around and--"
"Do you want to have your head blown off as well?" Brad snarls, pointing his gun at the Ranger.
Henrik simply places another forcefield on the opening of the gun. "No thank you, but thank you for asking."
The Bruin flips his gun around and eyes the clogged opening oddly.
"Now like what I was saying..." Henrik continues.
"Nathan!" Sidney whispers to the Av's ear.
"Yea?" he whispers back, leaning closer to him.
"Do you power on Henrik--you have like the same exact powers as him."
"But he's strong, I'm not."
"You're invisible and he's not."
Nathan tilts his head from side to side, conjuring an idea in his mind. "I think I got it." Invisibility then engulfs him from extending from his chest to the outer sides of his body.
Sidney catches Pekka talking to Henrik, trying to gain access to the main room, but the Rangers' goalie is firm.
Suddenly, a forcefield appears around Henrik, locking him up in place.
"Hey!" Henrik shouts in a muffled voice; he slams on the force field, making it ripple a bit. "Get me out!"
The force field then swings sharply like a baseball bat hitting a ball, flying down the hallway, behind the GHP.
There is a loud crash along with yells and meows; the forcefields on Brad's gun and the doorway flickered away into disapperence.
"Yay, it worked!" Sidney cheers, clapping.
"What worked?" Pekka asks.
Nathan turns visible next to the Penguin. "The plan Sid and I made!"
"Well, it's good news." He turns to his left, seeing the main room. "Now let's go help Patrick out!" He raises his fist that has sharp razors coming out from it in the air. "For the GHP!!!"
"FOR THE GHP!!!" Everyone else shouts with their weapons or fists in the air. They rush out into the main room, heading face to face with the rest of the EHP, minus Ryan, Henrik, and Ben, who are coming out from the other side of the main room; they beginning battling against them so that they can get them out of the way and move on to helping their Master. And in the middle of the room is Patrick battling Kari...
The tension.
The panic.
The pressure.
The intensity.
The way Patrick looks at Kari.
The position the two are in, glaring at each other.
Kari's eyes as cold as gray ice; Patrick's eyes as fierce as gray fire.
Then the battle rages on.
Ribbons of taut light streaks from Kari's hand, stretching in slow motion towards Patrick.
The target shields his gradually with an abnormally sized arm.
But it wasn't enough.
The light strikes him, making its way into his body, flowing through it. He cries out in agony as he collapses onto his knees with a painful look.
Patrick is no match, no match at all against Kari.
Kari saunters up to him in a sophisticated manner, looking like an evil business man with his spiffy suit and tie.
His dark gray-shaded, spiky hair bounces to the movement of his walk while he keeps a stern facial expression. He then stops in front of the Patrick, looming over him.
"It's done," Kari tells him with his hands clasped behind his back, leaning down towards him so that his voice could be clear. "Face it, you have failed. All of you guys had. It's over." He then straightens up and brings his hands in front of him; he begins creating a ball of light until it seems like he has a miniature, lighter, version of the sun in his hands. Then, he pushes the ball towards the Master of the GHP, who hadn't looked up at all.
The ball slowly drifts down towards Patrick, getting closer and closer with light flowing from behind it; it then makes contact with his dipped head and everything freezes in time.
"NOOOO!!!" Toews screams, rushing into the middle of the room.
He stands there, breathing hard, gazing at what was around him: The hockey players in midair; their facial expressions that could be categorized in either gawking or menacing looks; the powers glowing vibrantly while turning to black and white.
Everything in the room is frozen, like someone hit the pause button on a movie, but the only person not paused and coloured fully against the black and white frozen setting is the captain of the Blackhawks, Jonathan Toews.
And he is alone.
His brown eyes dart around the room in confusion. "What's going on?" He looks down at his teammate. "Patrick!" He extends his peach-coloured hand towards Patrick, who is frozen on his knees with half of his head engulfed with white light.
But before he is able to do anything else, the scenery around began to blur, like a greater being grabbed a paint brush and smeared the setting with bright yellow paint.
The setting begins swirling around with howling wind sounds, mixing in the bright bright yellow with the gray and black; Toews immediate got the the feeling that he is hovering in the middle of this twisting chaos.
Toews is so puzzled at what is happening around him; the only thought in his mind is, "What is going on?!"
