Resurrection and Revenge

Tazer’s Magical Tears

Jonathan Toews finally turned from the scene below as Crabtree and Avery were rounded up by Sidney Crosby and the others. There was cheering below and catcalls that echoed up to the ears of the partner duo. The Blackhawk leader was beaming and he threw his hands and arms around the Seahawk quarterback, hugging him closely.

“We won! We won! Avery’s dead! He’s finally dead!! We’re safe and free and Avery’s dead!” Jonathan cried.

“Yeah, we did! Dangeruss and Tazer!!” Russell let off more relief laughter and hugged him back. They remained this way for a few minutes, before both pulled back and Russell patted Jonathan on the shoulder.

“What about Kaner?”

And just like that the happiness drained from Chicago’s leader. He let go of Russell and darted back into the church and back to the room, at lightning speed. It was the quickest and fastest speed he’d ever ran at before. It would’ve made his coaching staff proud. He ran up the stairs and to the next floor and down the hall. He skidded into the area before the room and saw Tyler and Jamie huddled together by the body. He bolted in and dropped down to his friend’s body once more. He carefully picked Patrick’s head up, shaking as he placed it back on his lap.

Russell was quickly behind him and he skidded in now and slowly padded in. He gaped in horror at the scene, his mouth hung wide open and his eyes were teary with sympathy and concern for his hockey friend. Jonathan buried his head into Patrick’s neck.

“Kaner, I killed Avery. He’s dead,” the brunette Blackhawk sobbed. “He’s dead...and so are you…”

“Jonny…” Jamie began, before trailing off and shaking his head.

“Jonathan…” Russell then started.

The Blackhawk Captain wrapped his arms around his friend and hugged him close, sobbing hard. It was like Patrick was his brother or family...or even his lover. That’s how badly he was crying over the man’s death. He felt Tyler, Jamie and Russell’s hands on his shoulders, but Jonathan continued to bawl his eyes out. He continued to try to talk to himself and act like Patrick wasn’t really dead. He couldn’t accept it. He didn’t want to accept it.

And the others let him continue.

“Of course I came to save you, Peeks! I couldn’t let Avery--oh, Peekaboo--” the brunette man continued to sob. “Oh...oh my goodness, this is all my fault! If only I’d gotten here sooner! If I had been here earlier, one second earlier, I would’ve been able to save you again! You’d be safe.” He leaned over and nuzzled his head against the blond’s.

“Maybe...maybe its better this way, maybe this is a sign. Maybe it’ll be okay...” he spoke like Patrick, responding to him and reassuring him.

Jonathan’s index finger hovered over the winger’s cold, pale bloody lips and he shook his head in horror, “Don’t say that, Peeksy. You’ll be alright. We’re together now, everything’s going to be fine, you’ll see.” He placed his hand back to Patrick’s face and gently caressed it.

But Patrick Kane was not coming back. And it made Jonathan weep more and harder. He tilted his head back and like a wolf grieving, he howled out, “Oh, Peekaboo…” Then he nuzzled his head back against Patrick’s head.

There was an uncomfortable pause and chilling silence that followed. The air became dead and everything became still. It felt like time had halted.

Then...

“Jonny--?” a soft voice croaked out.

Jonathan’s head snapped back and he stopped crying for a moment. Could it be? He dropped his hands down, letting the blond go. He wasn’t sure, but he recognized the voice and knew it was Patrick Kane’s. He wasn’t sure if it was really him or his mind playing cruel jokes.

Sure enough, Patrick’s eyes fluttered open once more. Gorgeously angelic blue eyes peered back at his Captain, before the winger’s hands shot out and entangled around the Captain’s waist.

“Peeksy, you’re okay!”

“Unbelievable!” Russell and Jamie gasped.

“I am okay. I saw the light, but I kept hearing two voices - yours and a deeper more commanding voice that told me it wasn’t my time. I didn’t deserve to die and I couldn’t leave you alone. And then the light faded away and your voice got louder.”

“Oh my God, Kaner!” Jonathan laughed and flung his arms around his best friend once more.

“Jonny, I--” Patrick’s soft voice called out.

“Shh, shh, don’t speak Peeks, don’t speak!” Jonathan said, as he kept his hands wrapped warmly and comfortingly around his teammate, happily keeping a hold of him. “You’re safe. You’re safe.”

“You came for me.”

“I did. I will always come for you.”

“I know you will. But Avery?” The blond’s voice faltered momentarily.

“He’s dead. You’re safe. You’ll never see him again!”

“He’s dead?”

“Yes, I killed him...well, he fell from the Notre Dame and died.”

“And Crabtree?”

“Dead,” Russell answered.

There was another moment of silence, before Patrick broke it again and whispered three little words, as they both sobbed, holding each other tightly and refusing to let go, “I love you, buddy.”

“I love you too Kaner. As a best friend of course. I never want to lose you! Don’t you ever die again!”

Shockingly Patrick chuckled. “You gotta keep me safe then, Tazer.”

“I will. You’ll never get kidnapped again. You’ll be with me at all times. We’ll be inseparable!”

They finally pulled apart. Both grinned and the blond nodded. He looked to the side and saw the beaten and bloodied figure of his Dallas Star friend. Tyler was smiling as best he could. Jonathan was respectful and let him hug Tyler.

“I’m so happy that you are okay, Segs. I’m sorry about Avery and that you had to get caught in the mess.”

“It’s okay, no serious damage. At least, nothing that won’t heal eventually. I’m really just glad that you’re alive and okay too. You’re one tough goal scorer and man, Mr. Patrick Kane. It’s a pleasure to know you. And I’m not as tough as you are.”

“Sure you are.”

“You both are,” Jamie threw in, earning a look from Tyler.

They all shared laughter.

Then they all got up from the ground and made it out of the room and down to the lobby and sanctuary of the church. They all walked out the front door to cheering and then a mob of Blackhawks, a Montreal, Boston, Pittsburgh, and Anaheim Captain.

“Hey, we have to get back to the U.S. and get Patrick and Tyler some medical help!” Jamie stated.

And with that, they all left France, taking the dead bodies of the villains with them. They’d burn the bodies or whatever back in America. It was another successful rescue mission. It was close, but Jonathan couldn’t help but think that he was a little bit magical.

Well, at least his tears. His tears were magical.

But then again, he could be completely normal and it could have been the presence of the Lord in the church and that the Lord had saved Patrick Kane and brought him back. It was a Holy place after all.

Whatever it was, Patrick was okay and Jonathan Toews was happy.

The group arrived in the U.S., where they rushed Tyler and Patrick both to a hospital. Again, Patrick was there just to be looked at. He was fine, he looked much better. But both men had their wounds dressed and then they all parted ways. Jonathan thanked everyone for their help and they all in turn reminded him not to let Patrick get in trouble or get kidnapped again.

The Blackhawks all returned to Chicago and before long, within two days, hockey resumed in the three places once more. As soon as the plane had touched down, Gabriel Landeskog had finally awoken and almost took Ryan Getzlaf’s head off.

There was a ton of laughter and grumbles and snarky remarks from the Anaheim Duck Captain. But all in all, everyone was happy, relieved and enjoying themselves. Patrick and Jonathan stayed true to their word and always hung out and remained together, they truly were inseparable really.

Jokes arose that because Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews were often together or hanging out, that they were a couple. There was more to the bromance and friendship, but they didn’t know the truth. Jonathan had Patrick’s back. He was his protector. And when players on other teams chose to test that, they saw just how strong and protective the Blackhawk Captain was of his friend.

OMG, what a chapter! I was NOT excepting that! That was awesome! Hahaa, I liked Sid giving the signal if the villains were dead or not! XD Oh Sid!
But one thing: Toews has no sisters--he just has a brother, that's all. Patrick's the one who grew up with all the girls! ;)
But awesome job on it! :DD
