Resurrection and Revenge

Bears Vs Seahawks

Russell was good at football. He knew football inside out, backwards, upside down, you name it. It was probably the only thing in his life that wasn't confusing anymore. He’d became the starting quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks of course in his first year, and he was their quickest runner. They were a good team whether the guys on the team liked it or not.

Even though Russell knew that he was a devoted Christian and also best friends with a hockey player from the Chicago Blackhawks (suddenly watching more NHL games and rooting on the Hawks!), he probably wouldn't give up this kind of information. He would probably be a pariah after that. It wasn’t that he wasn’t closed with his faith, he was an open book and everyone on the team knew about his love of Jesus, the one and only Savior. And they knew about his daily routine of posting or tweeting out scripture on Twitter and Facebook (Social Media).

The Seahawks had managed it to make it to another hot start this year, with a 5-1 record and were now going up against a skidding Chicago Bears team. It just so happened that their biggest rivals and their sworn enemies for life were going to be playing them next week and they had to be prepared (The San Francisco 49ers). The 49ers were good and Russell knew it would be a close game. After all, it wasn’t quite the Tom Brady-Peyton Manning Rivalry, but Colin Kaepernick-Russell Wilson, was the next big rivalry brewing. And it certainly wouldn't seem like so close on the field, but he knew it'd be a gut-wrenching game in the stands.

Russell had been practicing every day for the last two weeks, getting ready for the big matchup game and he was eating healthier than he ever had before. He worked out in the gym with the others every day during their “free” time.

It was the Thursday before the Hawks had left for Chicago, at ten o'clock, and was working out with his wide receiver Jermaine Kearse, who had luckily made a full and complete recovery from his ordeal with Patrick. Patrick and Jermaine still chatted often and sent each other texts of “Good Luck” and “Go Hawks.” Russell grunted as he bench-pressed one-eighty. Jermaine was leaning against the wall watching Russell and was prepared to spot him if he needed it, which the quarterback and him knew that he wouldn't.

"Did you do your three mile run last night?" he asked. "I decided to do mine outside. Bad idea. I was soaked. When my Mom said it rained a lot here, I thought it meant maybe once a week."

Russell chuckled. "No, we're pretty lucky to get one dry day a week. And it's still wet outside even when it's not raining. But that’s Seattle."

"I don't know how you do it, Russell," he sighed. "No wonder you're so tan. You are always working hard and in the sunlight."

"Nah, I just think I'm naturally this color," Russell said through gritted teeth. "I went to Florida with my family once. I didn’t get any darker…just stayed the same color."

He laughed. "Man, I feel sorry for you. I didn't even bother with sunscreen in Texas. I haven't burnt since I was a boy too."

"I don't bother with sunscreen here," Russell teased, letting the bar settle. "Okay, you're turn, Jermaine. Don't exert yourself too much, you are still technically recovering and the last thing we need is you to reinjure your wound."

He punched Russell playfully and slid down onto the weight punch and began pumping the one-eighty pounds up and down, just like his friend had been doing in the beginning. The quarterback took a drink out of his water bottle and wiped his forehead with the back of his hand. Russell hated how much he sweated compared to Jermaine. The receiver was the same complexion as him and the pretty much the same as him period, but he didn’t sweat as much. It made him feel out of shape.

"Are you nervous yet?" Russell asked. "I'm not really feeling it. I always get nervous before big games though and then I hit the field and it’s gone. Miraculous." He laughed, remembering the hilarious thought.

"Nah, I'm not nervous," Jermaine replied.

Game Day,

The two Seahawk football players had arrived at the field and suited up with the rest of the team. The only people that didn't look like they were carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders were Russell and Jermaine.

"Calm down, ladies," Coach Carroll announced when he entered the dressing room. "It's just the Bears. We know them as well as we know our own team. Don't let the fact that these games count for the post-season mess with your heads. Let's just play like we can, you hear me?"

"Yes, Coach," they all replied.

"Now get running."

Sooner rather than later, the stands filled up and the other home team arrived, warming up just like the Seahawks were. The tension was thick in the air and if the opposing team so much as looked at the Seahawks, they'd stared them down, giving them their best death glares. It was going to be a tough game.

But it wasn’t quite a Rivalry game. It wouldn’t be as tough as next week, when they took on the 49ers.

"You ready, Captain?" Jermaine asked Russell, slapping his back with an easy grin.

"Yeah. You ready, Captain?" Russell mimicked.

"Hell yeah. Let's start destroying some bodies."

The Seahawks won the toss, so they decided to receive the kick. A great way to start this football game. The game was hard from the beginning, as the Bears really wanted a win. Both teams had an amazing defense, making it quite hard for the offense to get very far away from the middle of the field. Eventually, Jermaine opened up and Russell threw a perfect spiral to him. They got a touchdown, and then the field goal. By halftime, the Seahawks were up 17-3. It was a good game for them so far.

And that helped to boost their confidence. Everyone was jittery with excitement and nerves in the locker room. Coach Carroll gave them some tips, but was extremely proud of his boys for really pulling it out.

The Seahawks came back on the field with the humble confidence that Coach Carroll had taught them to carry whenever they were winning.

The game continued. The Bears really came out full throttle in the second half. They got two touchdowns and they were only three behind the Seahawks now. It felt like a post-season game...almost like the SuperBowl.

"Okay, boys," Russell murmured in their huddle. "Let's get another touchdown, alright? Then we have this game in the bag! One, two, Go Hawks."

The offensive line jogged out of the huddle. Jermaine and Russell shared a meaningful look. The Bears hadn't really caught on that Jermaine was their best receiver. Russell had avoided using him so that when the time finally came to push it, Jermaine Kearse would be their secret weapon. (Like a Julian Edelman or someone.)

"Hike," Russell called. The players were off. Jermaine sprinted down the field, followed by a bigger guy. The Bear didn't have a chance. Russell threw, Jermaine caught, and he ran like a gazelle for the next twenty-five yards, dodging players and getting another touchdown. All they had to do was run the clock out now.

Richard Sherman went out, determined to make a play. One of the defensemen bagged the quarterback and then Sherman recovered the fumble. Russell could hear the scarce Seattle fans screaming in the stands. He wondered if Jonathan Toews was watching them.

"Nice job, bro," Russell said, slapping his helmet.

"Thanks, man," Richard replied, grinning ear to ear. “Don’t you know who I am?” I whipped up the crowd with gestures.

The Seahawks messed around with the Bears pretty much for the last ten seconds. When the clock ran out and the ref announced the winner, the team went berserk. Russell threw his helmet in the air and gave a war yell. They all darted onto the field and bunched together with the Bears for “good game” comments.

"Seahawks! Seahawks! Seahawks!" the crowd chanted, well those who were Hawks fans that is.

It was a good day. Nothing could have possibly made it better for Russell.

Russell Wilson sat down in his stall in the visitor’s locker room, still ignited with excitement. He was congratulated and he also congratulated his team. He knew he couldn’t have pulled off the big win without them.

As soon as he was undressed and then redressed in casual clothing, his phone went off with a message. It was Jonathan.

Great win today, Russ. However, I have some horrible news. The NHL has cancelled any Hawks games, because Kaner is missing again. I hate to bother you, but Avery left a note. He survived and he’s back and he’s kidnapped my teammate again!

I’m willing to help out! I promised and a promise is a promise, Jonny.

Thanks.

No problem.

OMG, what a chapter! I was NOT excepting that! That was awesome! Hahaa, I liked Sid giving the signal if the villains were dead or not! XD Oh Sid!
But one thing: Toews has no sisters--he just has a brother, that's all. Patrick's the one who grew up with all the girls! ;)
But awesome job on it! :DD
