Resurrection and Revenge

Russell Wilson packed up all of his stuff rapidly and got out of the stadium quickly, after the game. He hated rushing off and looking like he was stiffing the media, but he had to get to his friend immediately. He’d promised Jonathan that he would be there for him, if something ever happened to Patrick again.

And it had.

He hailed a cab outside and was dropped off at the now familiar building of the United Center. The majestic white snowglobe-style professional sports arena stood glistening under the moonlight. It looked much different in the night, then when he had been there during the day. But it still possessed the majesty and power.

As the cab pulled around the front, to the drop-off point, he spotted his hockey player partner pacing outside nervously. The man was pulling at his hair and he looked like a panicking wreck. He looked up and spotted the football player, darting toward him and he slowly relaxed his tension.

“Russ, thank goodness!”

“Hey, Jonny!” Russell greeted him. “So what happened?”

In the background, the cab pulled off, zooming away, back onto Madison, as the two met up, shaking hands friendly with one another. The awkwardness about being a hockey player, who was best friends with a football player had passed. The two felt comfortable with one another. They broke apart, as Jonathan Toews faced Russell Wilson.

“Avery’s back. We were warming up and about to play, when Patrick just vanished. I went back to the locker room, thinking he was in there...but he wasn’t. And there was this note. That bastard is back and he’s got Kaner again!”

“How’d he survive?” Russell questioned, shocked. “We saw him...he sank under the water.”

“Avery’s a trickier son of a bitch then we thought!”

“That’s true, it seems...but if he messed up the first time, how do we know that he’ll mess up a second time. He’s got to be ten times smarter this time, which doesn’t bode well for Chicago, us, or Patrick.”

“You’re right, but I’m not losing my friend. We’ve got to find him.”

“But how?”

Jonathan sighed. Russell had a point. How were the two going to find Patrick and rescue him? He sat down on a bench outside of the Arena and dropped his head into his hands. he began to sob.

“I don’t know, Russ, I just don’t know. I promised him that I wouldn’t let this happen to him again. And it has. I’m a bad friend.”

The quarterback sat down beside the centre. He lifted his hand up and put it on the hockey player’s shoulder, gently. “It’s not your fault, Jonny.”

“But he was there and then I turned my back on him...AGAIN!!”

“Listen, if Avery’s back, I need to make sure Coach Carroll and the Seahawks keep an eye on Jermaine. But I promised to help you out and I stand by my promise. I’m going to help you out, Tazer. We’re best friends and Patrick’s innocent!” He stood up and stepped to the side. He pulled out his phone and dialed his coach. He quickly informed him of the situation and was apparently told that Jermaine was fine and hanging with all of his teammates, but that he’d be watched and accounted for.

With the reassurance, Russell hung up and returned to his friend, sitting back down. Jonathan had stopped crying now and was just staring downward at the ground, sniffling like he had a cold.

“We’ll find him.”

Jonathan slowly tilted his head to the side. Through shimmering, tear-stained eyes, the man nodded and finally flashed a slight smile. “I listened to you the first time and we succeeded. I’ll listen to you again. Let’s save Patrick Kane, again.”

“As Dangeruss and Tazer?”

“Yes...as Dangeruss and Tazer.”

“So we’re back on?”

“Yup. You bet.”

“Dangeruss and Tazer to the rescue of Patrick Kane!”

“Again.”

Notes

I know this is a short chapter, but it is supposed to be. It's kind of a filler chapter of shorts.
But if it is too short and the pacing doesn't work well, let me know. I'd be happy to change it.
