Forever and Always

Life was never worse, but never better.

Morgan woke up to the sound of his phone's alarm going off, he cracked an eye open and groaned. "Fuck." he murmured as he reached for his phone in his pants pocket that he grabbed off the floor. He grabbed his phone and shrugged his pants back onto the cold hard floor. He turned off his phone and then turned back around to go back to sleep. That's when he realized, he was alone in bed. Amanda wasn't sleeping beautifully next to him, like she was last night. They stayed up after their tryst to four am just talking, about the last four years, about everything and anything. He looked back at his phone, 10:01 am. 6 hours of sleep. He was damn tired. He got up and slipped on his black boxer briefs and walked out of the room. He could hear Wonderland by Taylor Swift wafting through the speakers Phil had installed throughout the apartment. "Didn't they tell us don't rush into things, didn't you flash your green eyes at me, haven't you heard what becomes of curious minds? Didn't it all seem knew and exiting? I felt your arms twisting around me. I should've slept with one eye opened at night. We found wonderland, You and I got lost in it." He knew the lyrics like the back of his hand, Madeline blasted 1989 every day for a good two years, and hasn't stopped. Wonderland was one of his personal favorites. "Mands?" He called out before reaching the kitchen. "Manda? Amanda?" He called out again, no answer. He found a note on the kitchen island. "Morgan, this isn't 2014, and I don't know if I can do this. I went to go think, please don't find me. I made coffee, there's bagels in the freezer. You can leave whenever you want. Morgan we got lost in it again." Morgan let out a scream and walked into the guest bedroom, grabbing his jeans and putting them on, slipping on his dress shoes, and then finally his polo shirt. "I am coming for you Amanda." He knew exactly where she was.

"Morgan wasn't home, I went over." Aaron walked into his and Madeline's bedroom as she got out of her post training shower. She looked damn good in that towel, he wanted to take it off of her. "How stupid could he be to miss training? Guys line up to train with Roberts and other players like us and he's going to risk his spot just like that?" Aaron sat on the bench sitting in front of their bed and took off his sneakers. "Well at least Gary believed our food poisoning story, we can't lie for him again. This is our careers too." Madeline nodded, as she sauntered into their closet and got dressed. "Well we need to find him. He's MIA at the moment." She yelled. "Well if he's not home yet, that still means he's getting it on with Amanda in the TO." At least one of them was getting laid, since he and Madeline started playing house he thought they would be doing it every night, that was so not the case. It was like they were an old married couple, not a newly engaged one. He needed to spice things up. He walked into their closet, Madeline looked damn good in a lacy bra and underwear. He smirked at her. She looked at him curiously. "What? You've been seeing me naked since you were like 17. Stop looking at me like it's the first time." She slipped on one of his Panthers shirts and tucked it into a pair of Nike shorts. "How do you do it?" She turned her head to him and smirked. "Do what?" He walked over to her and wrapped his arms around her waist. "Look so good in just a big t-shirt and shorts?" He kissed her neck. "I don't, you just like me, you like me, you like me." Aaron grinned. "Yeah I like you. Let's go find Morgan." She agreed, slipping on sneakers. "Let's go to TO Ekky, I have a feeling I know where they are."

Morgan entered the Air Canada Centre, like he had done so many times before. This place was his home away from home, his thinking place, his world. The ACC was his comfort zone. And whenever he and Amanda had a fight he would come here, and just sit in the locker room, in his stall and think. When the ice was out in the arena he would sit on the bench, and grab a bucket of pucks, stick handling and just inhaling the smell of the ice. Amanda would always come and find him, they would talk and they would resolve their issues. And go home, hand in hand. It was his turn to go find her and bring her home. He walked through the tunnel from the locker room to the ice, and found her. Laying on the bench, breathing in the smell of the ice, the best smell in life. He opened the door the door to the bench. "Sorry M'am this is only for perssonal and players only." He looked at her very sternly. "How did you know where to find me?" She sat up, her eyes were puffy, she had been crying. "I am good. Move over." Amanda scooted down a little. "I don't want to talk Morgs." He nodded. "So let's not talk." He wrapped his arm around her shoulder, and she rested her head on his shoulder. "Okay." He kissed the top of her head. "I have a song that's stuck in my head." He took his phone out of his pocket, and put it into the dock sitting in the bench, and Wonderland started playing. "We found Wonderland, you and I got lost it, life was never worse, but never better."

"I am telling you, their here." Madeline walked into the Air Canada Centre and clicked the elevator button to the locker room. "I don't think so Mads. Their totally shacked up together at Phil's apartment. We should go over there." She shook her head. "Their here!" The elevator opened and she got in. "You coming A?" He stood there, rolled his eyes and got in. "Your wrong." He stated. "Wanna bet?" They shook on it. If they were here, Aaron had to make breakfast tomorrow morning. Naked. If they weren't here, Madeline had to make dinner tonight, naked. They better be here she murmured to herself. They walked through the locker room, and Aaron stopped. "What?" She turned to face him. "Just stop for one second. Look at all the history in this room Mads." She looked at all the pictures on the walls, the murals on the ceiling. Kennedy, Bower, Sittler, Clancy, Francis, Gilmour, Fuhr, Horton, Plante, Salming, Domi, Belfour, Tyler Gilmore. "We're going to be sitting in here in only a few short months." She looked at the stalls. "Rielly, Gardiner, van Reimsdyk, Kessel, Lupul, Ty Gilmore Jr, Bernier, Reimer, Ekblad, Gilmore. It doesn't sound right." Morgan and Amanda entered the locker room, staring into each others eyes, and then at them. "Hey guys." Amanda smiled. Madeline crumbled to the ground, Aaron joining her on the floor of the locker room. "I am not ready, this is, I can't." She started rocking back and forth, her legs to her chest, her arms wrapped around them. "Florida is one thing, Toronto, playing in front of my family every night, I wasn't prepared for this." Madeline, and Aaron were in the middle of two full fledge panic attacks. Morgan sat in the middle of his two best friends. "Thanks for covering for me this morning, I got a text from DZ that you guys saved my ass." They nodded. "Guys, everything is going to be ok. We have each other, and that's all that matters. The bond in this locker room is insane, we have each others backs day in and out. You'll be fine." Amanda sat in between Morgan's legs. "Can we just sit here?" She asked. They all three replied yes.

"So are you guys officially together?" Aaron muttered. "Yes, yes, we are." Amanda replied. "Just not outside this room, I don't need Lauren Milton spreading rumors or anything. We'll make our official coming out opening night." Madeline cracked a smile. "Goodbye Ice Princess, hello Queen of the Ice with a wicked slapper." The four of them laughed.

Madeline wouldn't know what to do without the people sitting in the locker room, beside her. Life was never worse, but never better.
