Forever and Always

Can we go back to the beginning?

Morgan Rielly walked out of the Toronto Maple Leafs locker room and into the friends and family lounge after the hard game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He was meeting up with his roommate Jake Gardiner, and they were going to go to dinner with Steven Stamkos, a friend he met through the Gilmore's the summer he was drafted by Toronto. "Hey Jakey." He patted Jake on the back as he stood next to him. "What took you so long rookie?" Morgan let out a laugh, he was only a few games into his NHL career and was already sick of being called a rookie. "I didn't realize how long my shower was I guess." He ran his fingers through his longish blonde hair, water dripping on the carpet. He shook it out and threw on his Toronto Maple Leaf hat. "Yeah yeah yeah, let's go meet up with Stammer time by the visitors locker room." He nodded and followed Jake as they said goodbye to his girlfriend, and their live in roommate Lucy.

Morgan was texting Madeline Gilmore about when the next home game was, when he knocked into somebody. "Oh sorry." He looked up and came face to face with Amanda Kessel. Everyone knew who Amanda Kessel was, she was after all Amanda Kessel. "Hey it's no problem. You're Morgan Rielly the teenage wonder kid right?" Not a lot of draft picks, defenseman get chosen for the opening night roster, their first professional year, Morgan was lucky. "Yeah, yeah I am." He smiled at her. She was damn gorgeous. "Hey Wisconsin stop flirting with my rookie, we're about to go to dinner with Stammer, we can't be late." Amanda smiled at Morgan and turned around to face Jake. "Jake don't be jealous, I said hi to Morgan first and not you." She kissed Jake on the cheek and turned her attention to Morgan. "Well wonder kid, if you ever want to run into me again, here's my info." She tugged his phone out of his grip and punched in her phone number, handing his phone back to him. "Please text me anytime." She whispered in his ear as she walked away from him, catching up with her brother Phil.

Jake kept walking, as Morgan power walked to keep up with him. "How do you know Amanda Kessel?" He asked as they stopped in front of the visitors locker room. "She's from Madison, Wisconsin, I went to Wisconsin, I am from Minnesota, she goes to University of Minny, small world I guess, I've also played with her brother the last few years moron." Right, Phil, he forgot for a couple seconds there that Phil was now his teammate. "Why are you smiling weirdly?" Steven Stamkos said as he walked out of the visitors locker room and up to them. "I am not." Steven smirked. "You so are Rielly!" Jake gave Stammer a quick man hug and Morgan did the same. "He just literally bumped into Amanda Kessel, and now he's a little smitten with her." Steven laughed as he grabbed Morgan's phone finding Amanda's newly minted number, and asked her to come out to dinner with them. "You will thank me one day Rielly." They walked out to the players parking garage and got into Jake's escalade. "Hey guys, can we not tell Madeline about this? I don't need my best friend on my back, and aren't they friends?" Jake started driving to STK steak house. "Yeah their friends, and yeah we won't tell anyone. But she'll eventually find out bro, she's Madeline Gilmore for gods sake." That's what Morgan was afraid of.

Morgan took a shower, stared at his phone, made lunch, stared at his phone. Nothing, nada, no texts or tinder messages, or Instagram likes or follows. Literally he wanted Amanda to text him so badly, it stung. He left his phone in the living room, and when he heard a ding, leaped from the kitchen island and ran into the living room as fast as he can, almost slipping on the bare hardwood floors. He picked up his phone and read the text. "Yeah Morgan, I would love to go to dinner tomorrow night, Mads says hi. I never told her about you know us, does she know? She's acting like we never met which is weird because your Phil's teammate and everything. I can't believe you didn't tell her about us. Well see you tomorrow. And Morgan? I still love you too." The only people who knew about Morgan and Amanda was Morgan, Amanda, Bozak, JVR, Jake and Phil. "No she doesn't know, pick you up from Phil's around 7?" The fact that he kept their season long romance, almost four years ago a secret for so long was surprising. "See you then." He smirked. He was moving on, he was technically going backwards but she was the one that got away. "Did you hear that Moosey? Daddy and Amanda are reuniting!" Moose, his black lab jumped onto the couch next to him, licking his face. "Yes dad and mom will get back together." At least he wished.
Madeline and Amanda sat on the couch in Madeline and Aaron's living room, the place was shaping up to be a pretty nice little cottage. It looked like a Restoration Hardware catalog. "So tell me everything! What is it like coaching the Minnesota Gophers?!" The program was historic, and Amanda getting the Women's head coaching nod at the ripe age of 25 was a big deal. "It's amazing! But so busy! I am glad that the season is over, and I can relax a little!" Amanda kept checking her phone and smiling, she was probably talking to Phil, he was back in Wisconsin for the summer. "Well I wanted to talk to you about my teammate, Morgan Rielly! I don't know if you two ever formally met but he's amazing Mands! And I know there's a little bit of an age difference but he's such a great guy and a old soul!" Amanda chuckled at her. "He never told you." A confused look washed over Madeline's face. "Told me what?" Amanda set her iPhone onto Madeline's coffee table and faced her. "Me and Morgan. We were in a relationship. We were actually together from September, to June of the 2013-2014 season. He was the reason me and Charlie White didn't hook up at the Olympics. We kept it really low key! No one knew, it was just better that way. No drama, only my brother, JVR, Tyler Bozak, Steven Stamkos, Jake Gardiner and Morgan and me knew about us." Madeline sat there dumb founded, shocked actually. "I was at BC that season, that was my freshman year. How dumb was I?! I knew he was seeing somebody but I didn't put two and two together." It was all right in front of her, and she didn't put the pieces together. She just thought they flirted from across the room, when they saw each other. Not that they had a full fledged scandalous, fun, sexy, ten month relationship! "Was that him that you were texting?" Amanda nodded. "He's taking me out tomorrow night." Madeline smiled. "Good! We have to find you a hot ass outfit, to make Rielly want you back in a matter of seconds." Amanda laughed. "Same old Mads, you never change."

Morgan sat at a table with Steven and Jake when Amanda walked in, she was damn cute, and had a fucking wicked slap shot. He couldn't say that about most girls, only Madeline Gilmore and she was more like his best friend and sister, plus she was shacked up with OHL hot shot Aaron Ekblad. "Hey there." That's all he had? "Hey guys." She sat down next to him, as Steven and Jake moved over in their booth table to make room for her. "Well you know, I am not that hungry anymore for steak. Jake want to hit up that new Sushi place next to the CN tower?" Jake nodded with a smirk. "Fuck yes, Lucy's there now I think. Bye guys." Morgan sat there dumbfounded. They were leaving him and Amanda there alone. They were his ride home, fuck them. He had just been set up by fucking Jake Gardiner and Steven Stamkos. "I am sorry, I didn't know they were doing this." Amanda just smiled at him and ordered herself a steak, and a gin and tonic. "It's okay, I think I don't want to be anywhere else tonight." He smiled at her. "Oh really?" She nodded. "Yeah, really. Now can we please talk about improving your moves on the power play?" He let out a laugh. Who was this girl? And can he marry her tonight?

Morgan didn't know why he had goosebumps running up and down his arms, it could be the fact that he was sitting outside the apartment building that he and Amanda broke up in front of. It could be the fact that this apartment building used to house he and Jake's old apartment, and the fact that Phil Kessel lived in the penthouse with his girlfriend Sandra, Tyler Bozak and his girlfriend Molly. Or maybe it was the fact that he hadn't seen her or talked to her in what it seemed like forever and he missed her. He missed the way she smelled like lavender and vanilla, the way her blonde hair was like silk, and the way she kissed him to wake up. He missed her. He got out of his car, and walked into the Toronto apartment building, nodding at the doorman who knew exactly who he was and walked into the elevator, hitting Penthouse. In moments he was lifted to the 15th floor, he walked out of the elevator and knocked on the door. "Coming." Her voice, so smooth, like butter. She opened the door, and gave him her five watt smile. "Hey you." She kissed his cheek. "Almost ready!" She looked great in black mini skirt, and white silky tank top, tucked in. "Just gotta grab my sandals." He walked into the apartment, and found Phil and Sandra's dog on the couch. "Hey buddy." He pet her and she licked his hand. "I am ready!" Amanda quickly threw on her sandals and grabbed her clutch. "Alright." He let her lead him out of the apartment and to the elevator. "So where are we going tonight?" He quickly gave her a once over, not caring if she saw him check her out. "STK steak house." She broke out into a smile. "The place where we had our first date." She inched closer to him. "Perfect." He suavely wrapped his arm around her shoulders. "That technically wasn't our first date."

He led her out to his car, and quickly opened the passenger door for her. "Well thank you Rielly." He smirked. "No problem Kessel." He walked around to the drivers seat and got in. "Ready?" She nodded. "Same."

Dinner was great, him and Amanda talked about everything, the last four years. The endless exes, his newly minted single relationship status, and the fact that they missed each other. Now they were back in Phil's apartment, where Amanda was staying and they sat on the couch and talked. "Remember when we had that water balloon fight on the terrace with Bozie, and all the patio furniture got soaked and Philly freaked out?" He smiled at the memory. It was in April, right before she had to go back home and they were fooling around, Phil was so pissed. "Why did we break up?" He took a swig of his beer, that she had given him when they walked in. "We didn't want to do the long distance thing, Morgan you know that. We were young." He inched closer to her. "We're still young." She took a sip of her wine and set it down on the coffee table. "Yeah but we're less young, more grown up. We're at different places in our lives then we were four years ago." He leaned in and kissed her, their tongues colliding together like waves crashing into each other. He missed her kisses. His hands were on her face, her hands in his hair. Her scent of Lavender and Vanilla wafting over him, he still loved her. He broke away from her, giving him some air to breath. He was buzzed that was for sure. "We can't tell anyone about us, at least for a little while. Only the usual suspects. No pictures on Instagram, no twitter favorites, no Facebook official. I literally just broke off my engagement." She nodded. "I understand. Now bring me to the bedroom Rielly." He smirked, as he lifted her off the couch and into his arms, swiftly making out with her on the way to the guest bedroom, that she made hers. He gently laid her on the bed, unbuttoning his shirt. "Morgan?" She asked. "Yeah?" He hovered over her, his voice low and scratchy. "Do you still love me, truly love me?" He nodded and kissed her. "I haven't stopped loving you for a second." And with that, he shut the door and undid his belt. "Can we go back to the beginning?" She nodded. "Please."

He never had sex on the first date, but technically this wasn't their first date.

They were going back to the beginning.
