Kaner’s Kidnapping

2014-2015 (Immediately after previous chapter)

At the UC in Chicago,

Once the Dynamic Duo finished getting dressed in normal clothes and getting showered, Jonathan grabbed Patrick’s hand in his and led him out of the locker room and down the tunnel and out into the parking lot. All the while, the younger Blackhawk was questioning his motive. There, he released him, spinning him around, ahead of him.

The blond was grinning and chuckling like a schoolgirl in front of their crush. “What’s going on Jonny?”

“Kaner, I just wanted to get you alone to let you know the news first.”

The winger leaned forward. “What news?”

“I got a girlfriend!! Or rather, I have a girlfriend and we're going out on our first date soon! We've already picked out the date and all of that! She's going to surprise me with where we are going...but still--!” the Captain of Chicago exclaimed.

Patrick took a step back, gasping and covering his mouth with his hands. “What?! Jonny, that’s amazing!! That’s fantastic! Sick, buddy, I’m proud of you!” He launched forward and flung his arms around his teammate.

“Thanks, man. I thought you should be the first to know.”

Patrick stepped back and flashed his friend a sweet, thankful smile. “You’re the best friend and Captain, I could ever hope to have, Jonny!”

“I know. You’re an okay guy too, Kaner.”

“Okay? Jonny, c’mon, I’m awesome!!” Patrick laughed and slapped his friend on the shoulder.

“Yeah, you’re pretty special, Kaner!”

There was an awkward silence. Patrick had put on one his nicer, dressier light blue shirts. It was his favorite, but for how cold Chicago was that evening, it wasn’t a smart investment. The brunette watched him rubbing his arm and shivering. He looked like he was trying to disguise it though.

“Cold, Kaner?”

“A little bit, yeah. Can we go back inside now?”

“Yeah. I guess so. You need to dress warmer though, buddy! This is Chicago, not Florida.”

Patrick faked his anger and took a step toward his Captain.

Suddenly the wind picked up and Patrick lost his balance, stumbling on his feet. He tripped and fell forward. Before he could get back to his feet though, an Earthly ground-shaking thud sounded.

“What the--?” Patrick gasped, as he saw a Black Hawk-looking creature land on the ground.

It looked like something out of the Marvel Universe or DC Comics...not human. Black wings spread out from it’s back. As the two Blackhawk forward stared, they saw an arm was outstretched toward the ground and the hand, which was in some kind of a slick black glove equipment, was clenched in a fist. A dent was in the ground, where it had smashed. And crumbles of the parking lot cement were scattered around.

It’s head snapped upward and a pair of glowing red eyes pierced into Patrick’s blue eyes. The head was pastely white and in the middle of the forehead there was a glowing red diamond shape.

“Patrick Kane?” the man-creature questioned, in a deep villainy voice.

“Yes, that’s a cool costume there, would--”

“It’s not a costume. My name is Strum, Eric Strum. I’m from the KHL and we got a problem with you!” He stepped forward and shockingly it only took that length for him to reach the bewildered Blackhawk. He seized Patrick’s wrist and yanked him to his feet.

“What’s going on? Jonny!” Patrick screamed, as Strum clutched a tighter grip onto him.

The Hawk guy was strong. Jonathan put his hands out before him. He didn’t want any trouble. And he wasn’t sure why some supervillain was going after his friend.

“Jonny!!” Patrick howled, as Strum’s wings began to beat behind him, like he was getting ready to take off.

“Kaner, hold on!” Jonathan replied finally. He glanced to the side of him and picked up a stray pipe item. Grabbing that, he lifted it up and swung it at the Hawk guy.

Strum let Patrick go and lifted upward, letting off a loud, thundering cry. The noise was deafening to the two hockey players. They both ducked a swoop and Jonathan raised the pipe up again, as Patrick ducked to safety behind him.

However, Strum swooped down, catching Jonathan off-guard and grabbed his pipe, flinging him and it backward. He flew across the lot, far from his friend. When he scrambled back to his feet, recovering from the blow, he saw Patrick Kane wrapped up in a big hug by the villain. And they were in the air.

“Kaner!!” Jonathan roared, darting forward, gripping the pipe in his hands. He skidded to a halt, as Strum let off another Hawk screech and launched upward, higher into the air.

Patrick kicked and struggled in the hold, trying to get out. During the struggle, Jonathan saw that his friend’s wrists were bound together by some rope, which wasn’t helping him out any. “Let me go!” the blond winger shouted. “JONNY!!”

“Hey, Hawk Man, let Patrick go!” Jonathan raised the pipe in his hands and swung it upward, trying to hit Strum.

“Is that really a smart idea, Jonathan Toews?” Strum cackled. “You might hurt precious Kanerboo, here?!”

“Let. me. go.”

“Or what? You can’t do a thing, can you little Kanerboo?”

Patrick tried to elbow Strum in the ribs, but learned the truth about his armor. And Patrick winced with pain and the tough protection. He looked down at his Captain, who loaded up another shot.

“I’ll save you Kaner! I promise!!”

“Jonny, please, help me!” Patrick continued to cry and struggle.

But just at the next moment, Strum lost his hold on the Blackhawk, who plummeted downward. Before he got any further though, the villain zoomed and scooped him back up. Then he flew off, putting more distance between himself and the Captain.

“TAZER!! JONNY!! HELP!!”

Jonathan dashed after him, but before he knew it, the Hawk creature poured on turbo speed and vanished into the evening air with Patrick.

“PATRICK!! NO!!” Jonathan yowled, skidding to a halt. It was impossible to chase after his friend and the demon hawk man anymore. He had been beaten and he had to accept that Patrick was gone. He stared in horror at the now blank sky. “Kaner…”

The centerman scrambled backward and raced back to the building. He flung open the door and dashed down the tunnel, scared out of his mind. “Someone help me! Patrick’s been kidnapped!!”

He darted into the locker room, where the others were still getting changed and showered and whatnot. They all looked at him in shock. Duncan Keith was the one who stepped forward. Brent Seabrook was at his side, like a loyal translator or dog.

“What do you mean that Kaner’s been kidnapped?”

Jonathan caught his breath. “I mean, like this guy named Strum, a hawk supervillain guy, showed up and kidnapped him!!”

“A what and what?” Brent blurted out.

“You have to believe me, I’m not joking! Kaner is gone!! Kidnapped!”

“I wasn’t saying you were. That’s a pretty dark joke if you were, Jonny!” Duncan responded, not laughing.

“We have to go after him and find him! We have to rescue him!”

“We will. But you have to tell us exactly what happened!”

“I did. Strum kidnapped Kaner!”

“Why would a supervillain want Kaner though?”

“I don’t know.”

“Then how can we go after him?”

“The guy’s name is Eric Strum and that’s all I know.”

“There’s an Eric Strum in the KHL I believe, but I think he’s retired now...or maybe its Eric Storm!” Marian Hossa commented. “I don’t really know much about the KHL, obviously.”

“It wouldn’t hurt to try though. I know just the person to ask about him and the KHL though. See, I know this girl, who lives in Boston actually and her name is Evelyn O’Reilly.”

Notes

OMG!!!! I'm loving doing this story!!
I can't do romance-drama, girl gets pregnant thing but I can totally do Action-Adventure!! :)
How Patrick was captured...does this work A Shruinger?
Man, this is going to get intense and more interesting. I can't wait until the next parts coming up here. :)
Man, I totally would love to have the job of being tasked to save Jonny!! :) <3 (But I'd prefer Val... guess what happens with that.)

@A Shruinger
1. :D
2. Okay, I'll look at that. ;)
3. XD
4. Okay. True, you are right. I'll put twinkling in then instead of flickering. :)
5. Understandable and yeah, I'll message you further with it when you reply next. And you can also list the limitations in the message too for me. The ones you find out from the page that is. :)

@EvelynaKitty
1. You're welcome! ;)
2. Um, the one like when Z says something like, "Stay out of trouble, Val," in Russian and all the Russian below that ;)
3. Hahaha! I also have a Russian keyboard ;) Cool! :)
4. Oh...that's more like 'twinkling,' not 'flickering.' Flickering is more like, suddenly, slashy, movements, making things disappear and reappear quickly, like a flame or a glitch. Twinkling is like sparkling, the brightness softly growing bright then dimming down. I think you mean 'twinkling' since stars twinkle, not flicker.
5. Yea, great power does come with great exhaustion when used! XD But it's not fun when two superhumans have the same limitations. :P Instead, maybe like let her struggle making the black hole, like let her have a hard time creating it and controlling it (with this, you'll have to redo the last chapter :P ) Or maybe there's this one limitation I read where when a user uses her power, then she can't use like her power for like a certain amount of time; applied to this: if Z uses her Black Hole Creation, then she can't use her powers for like, let's say, a week. I dunno. Those are some limitations there. But I can also go back to the profile of the Black Hole Creation to see the limitations on there. And she's gotta watch out with that hold too because she just might suck in some people/objects that aren't suppose to go in there X) But yea, you can email or message me about this if you'd like to :) I can't tell you, I'll spoil it for ya! ;) And that's right, I gotta get on typing up the update! I shall do that like right now ;)
You're totally welcome! :)

1. Hmmmm....okay, I remember double checking it and putting the right one in. But maybe not...I don't know, if it's wrong I'll change it. Thanks.
2. Weird...I normally do. What are the phrases that need translations??
3. I'll fix that via my handy-dandy Russian keyboard. :)
4. Yeah, like a star flickers in the night sky, that's one I am picturing, which should just be flickered. :)
5. Okay, yeah, what do you suggest with the limits for her then. And I don't want to go into too much detail here with it...it can happen in the sequel but that is a helpful thing to know. I mean Jonny can get so mad he exhausts himself and almost kills himself, so Zvezda should have something like that, that is true. But I'm not sure what limits to the Black Hole or her Power of the Stars can be. (We chat about this through email or the message system though.) It's not Tavy or Jonny though, right? It's NEMO!!!! Or Kari!!
Thanks! XD

Okay, I read and this is what I got:
1. For the subtitle for this chapter, I translated and the first part was translated to 'Star of my charcter...,' so I decided to help ya out and for 'Star is my hero,' I got 'Звезда мой герой.' ;)
2. Can you put in translations, please? 8)
3. 'ладно' needs to be capitalized: 'Ладно.'
4. 'Flickered away.' Can you describe this more beacuse I picture her just glitching into nothingless, unless that's what you're aiming for :P
5. Alright, so I think Z's unstoppable because she can make black holes easily. And no one would be able to stand up to her with that great of power (unless they have something that has to do with taking away powers or nullifying powers or having omnipotence, then it's fine). Maybe with her creating such a powerful thing, she should have like a cost to it or a struggle making it so that it can be difficult and the villains can have somewhat of an edge. Maybe put a limitation. Because if a character has very powerful powers, then it'll be easy for them and the plot wouldn't be that strong, including the climax and it's expected for that character to win easily due to the strong powers. So I highly recommand putting limitations on her-- Don't worry, I have a character coming up in Mission very soon that is going to have GREAT power, but he's gonna have many limitations so that he can be somewhat vulnerable and make things less easy for him ;) Either place limitations or have a villain that is very powerful (but not too powerful, of course)! Just a tip for creating a better superhero story ;)
Other than that, all good! :)
