Fate Has A Way
Chapter 27
{Later That Night}
After having my somewhat succesful discusion with Avalon about Zach. She had went and played in her room for a bit. I had sat at the kitchen island for a little bit after the conversation and pondered if she actually knew what it meant Zach being her father. I knew she actually seemed happy about it. A little to happy if you asked me.
'I probably should have explained to her that just cause Zach was her dad, didn't mean we Zach and I were getting together. That we weren't going to be the big happy family, now that she knew Zach was her dad.' I thought to myself, shaking my head.
If anything things were probably going to be up in the air for awhile. Things were probably going to get messy. Especially with Alisha now. And everything was up in the air with Ryan and I. I really didn't want Alisha dealing with my daughter, but she was married to Zach and was now going to be a part of my daughters life.
After sitting there and stewing in my thoughts. I finally got up and cleaned up the mess from lunch. Than went upstairs to find Ava playing.
"Ava if you want to go the game tonight than you need to take a nap," I told her, picking up some of her dolls and placing them in the toy chest.
"Ok momma," Ava replied, cleaning up the rest of her mess and climbing up in her bed and laying down.
'Huh that was easy. Almost too easy' I thought, shutting her door slightly after leaving her room.
After Ava's nap I had woken her up and got her and myself ready for the game. Now I found myself sitting up in the wives and girlfriends suite in the Prudential Center. A couple of the girlfriends I was already familiar with because they traveled a lot with their guys and I had meet them a couple of times. I was a little nervous when Alisha would arrive, if she would arrive. I was not ready to deal with her drama yet, but I knew I would have to deal with her soon. Although I was a little shocked that everyone so far seemed welcoming.
Ally showed up right before the game and gave me a huge hug and introduced me to some of the other wifes I had yet to meet. Than Ally and I took our seats next to each other.
"So how have you been? We really haven't talked in the last couple of day's," I asked Ally.
"I've been good," Ally responded.
"Everything going good with Travis now?" I asked.
"Yeah Travis and I are great," she answered, with a fake smile. But I could see some sadness behind her eyes.
I glanced around the room to see if anyone was listening to our conversation. Since it was really my first time around the other girlfriends and wives. I had yet to learn who the gossip mongers were.
"Well I'm here for you if you need to talk to someone," I replied quietly.
"Thanks Madd. I know you are," she answered.
After that they watched the first period of the game the were playing the Rangers. About fifteen minutes into the period during a break Ally and I were talking to some of the other girls in the room when the door to the suite opened.
"I'm here girls," I heard Alisha's voice, coming from behind me.
I slowly turned my head to look back at Alisha. As soon as Alisha's eyes landed on me you could feel the tension in the room. Some of the girls near Ally and I looked a little uncomfortable. Alisha sent me a glare and than walked over to a four of the other wives I hadn't really gotten to talk to yet.
"Alison come here," Alisha said loudly, sending another glare my way.
Ally looked over at me and gave me a "I'm sorry" look. I could only give her a small smile and nodded my head at her. I really didn't want to put Ally or anyone else between mine and Alisha's problems. I didn't want Ally to have to choose between family and I. I watched as Ally slowly walk over to the group of women. As soon as she reached them I could see Alisha whispering harshly at her and every now and than throw looks over at me. I turned my attention back to the game and watched the rest of the first period. I could feel several of the other woman looking back and forth between Alisha and I, probably waiting for some drama to pop off between us.
"Mom," I heard Ava say my name.
"Yeah sweetie?" I asked looking over at her.
"I need to go to the bathroom," she answered me.
"Ok sweetie," I answered her, standing up and grabbing my purse and than her hand as she walked over to me.
"What is she doing here?" I heard Alisha ask someone harshly, as we walked past them.
"Leave it Alisha. She's here to support Ryan," I heard Ally sigh.
I heard someone scoff which I could only assume was Alisha. I wouldn't let her get to me tonight. This wasn't the place or time to hash out our differences. I kept my head held high as we left the room. When Ava and I returned to the room I noticed that Alisha and the other women she had been talking to and Alison were gone. Ava went back over to the other children to play and I sat back in my seat.
"Don't worry Alisha isn't going to come back," one of the girls that was sitting by me, told me.
"Oh?" I replied, looking over at her.
"Not a lot of us like her. But you, I like you," she told me.
"Thanks?" I replied, more as a question.
"Yeah you know, Alisha is all about her and acts like everything should revolve around her. She's all fake. None of us like how she treats Zach and the kids," she went on to explain. "Plus most all of us know she's not faithful to Zach."
I was shocked at that little bit of information and looked down to the ice. I guess I shouldn't have really been that shocked. Although I wasn't sure if this girl was telling me the truth either, she could have been just testing me to see how I would react. Although I wondered what she would think when the truth came out about Ava and I and Zach. The rest of the game passed without Alisha returning. Though I was a little disappointed when Ally didn't return. I had been hoping to talk to her a little bit more. After the game was over with the Devils winning 4-2. I was a little nervous as Ava and I followed some of the girls down towards the locker room. I wasn't sure that was the best place for Ava and I to be right now. Especially with both Ryan and Zach being down there, and Alisha. Plus I wasn't sure how Ava would react when she saw Zach, since she now knew he was her father.
When we finally made it down to the family room, Ally and Alisha were already in there. Once again Alisha shoot me a dirty look. Luckily we didn't have to wait long as the guy's started fileling out of the locker room.
"Is there a reason why your down here?" Alisha asked loudly.
I didn't look at her when she asked that. I was just glad I wasn't the one at the receiving end of this tirade of her's.
"Maddison I know you hear me," Alisha snapped.
'Ok guess I was wrong about that' I thought to myself.
Looking over at her I noticed everyone seemed to be either looking at Alisha or me.
"Alisha don't start," Ally sighed.
"Why shouldn't I, huh Alison?" Alisha snapped at Ally.
"This isn't the time or place," Ally answered.
"No I think this is the perfect time and place. I think all of these people. All of our friends should know that Maddison is a homewrecker and if they aren't careful that Maddison may try and steal their man," Alisha replied, with a devious smirk.
More of the guy's at that point had filed out of the locker room, including Ryan and Zach. Who were both frozen in their spots. The other guy's who had come out with them just looked confused. Zach was the first one who seemed to snap out of whatever shock he had been in and stalked towards Alisha.
"Alisha stop it," Zach hissed, grabbing Alisha by the upper arm.
"Why Zach? I mean really I think everyone in this room and on the team should know what kind of person Maddison is. That she just wants to try and take you from me and that she's trying to pin her child on you." Alisha replied angrily and defensively, and trying to pull her arm from Zach's grip.
"I Said Stop It," Zach snarled.
I could feel my eyes filling with tears and looked around the room again. It seemed like most of the people who had been shocked before were now either just confused or trying to put the pieces together. I looked over at some of the wives and girlfriends, the group of woman who had been with Alisha just had smug looks on their faces. The few others who I had spoken with earlier just looked unsure of what to think of the whole situation.
"Mama," Avalon's voice said quietly.
I looked down and found Ava standing behind me and holding onto my leg. I realized I needed to get out of there quickly. I saw Ryan starting to walk towards us with a grim look on his face.
"Are you ready to go?" Ryan asked.
"Yeah," I replied.
"Lets go than," he replied.
I picked up Ava and followed behind Ryan as he started walking out of the room.
