"Hey!" Sam cheered.

Audrey furrowed her brows as she ate another piece of chocolate. "Hi," She said slowly. "Why are you calling me when we live together?"

"What are you doing right now?" He asked as he walked to his car.

"Laying in bed, waiting for you to come home." She explained as she cleaned up the wrappers around her. "How was practice?"

"It was good." He told her as he tossed his bag into his trunk. "I think I'm gonna be captain." He smiled.

"Baby, that's great." She smiled as she stood up off her bed.

"What are you wearing right now?" He stopped from climbing into his car.

"Woah, you're really tryna do this while you're driving?" She joked. "And just a pair of yoga pants and a sweater."

"I wasn't trying to do anything." He rolled his eyes. "We're going out for dinner and I wanna know if you just want to wear what you have on or if you're willing to get dressed up and we can go somewhere fancy."

"How long do I have to get ready?" She chewed on her lip as she raided her closet.

"I still need to drive home, so that's fifteen minutes, and then I'll need to shower, so ten more minutes, and then get ready myself. So about forty minutes." He figured out as he buckled himself up and started his car.

"Okay, see you soon." She sang as she grabbed a dress off it's hanger.

"Can't wait to see how beautiful you'll look." He smirked. "I'll be at your bedroom door in forty."

She rolled her eyes as she hung up. Her make up was first. Nothing too heavy, just what was needed. She started her hair. She was curling the ends. Sam loved her hair curled. Her dress was black and the straps crossed on her back. She paired it with a pair of Louboutins that had a double ankle strap. She accessorized with a pair of stud earrings Sam had bought her and a bracelet her parents had gotten her.

She heard Sam come upstairs. He drummed his fingers on her door as he passed by. She smiled and rolled her eyes. He smiled as well. He showered quickly and then ran back into his room in his towel. He knew he had to wear Audrey's favourite sweater. He paired it with some nice jeans and the silver Chopard watch Audrey had overpaid for, and argued that he deserved it.

As the forty minutes ran out, he walked down a door to her bedroom. He knocked on the door and waited a second. The door opened slowly and Sam took in Audrey standing in front of him. He was still taken away by her every time he saw her and they had been together for a while now. She smiled at him. Her favourite sweater. He slowly extended his hand to her. She took his hand before they walked downstairs. He walked behind her, keeping a hand on the small of her back.

Dustin looked over at his daughter as she stepped into view. "Where are you off to?" He spoke as he walked over to her.

"Sam's taking me for dinner." She explained with a smile.

"To celebrate his captaincy?" Dustin smirked.

Sam smiled at him. "Really?"

Dustin nodded. "Couldn't imagine the role fitting someone better."

"Thank you." Sam grinned as Audrey wrapped her arms around his waist.

"I guess I am my mother's daughter." Audrey teased. "Captains only."

"Go, have fun at your dinner." Nicole shooed them.

Sam led her out to his car. He helped her into the car and then stopped. He stood at her side with the car door open. She turned to him with a questioning expression. He smiled before pulling her towards him by his hand resting on the back of her neck. He pressed his lips to hers gently. She smiled into it while resting her hands on his chest. He pulled away slowly, putting his forehead to hers.

"You look beautiful tonight. You always look beautiful, but tonight," He made a "woo" like noise.

She laughed and leaned into him. "I'm not wearing underwear." She whispered into his ear.

He shook his head as he pulled back. "You're beautiful and crazy." He growled before pecking her lips once more.

He closed her car door and walked over to the driver's side. He started the car before he started to drive. She reached for his hand as they drove. They were both quiet. He stroked the back of her hand with his thumb.

"Are you honestly not wearing underwear?" He asked as he watched the road.

She burst into laughter. "No, I'm wearing a thong. A really cute one." She taunted.

"Guess I'll have to decide if it's cute later." He said, squeezing her hand.

The restaurant was somewhere neither of them had been to before. Sam had made a reservation in the past, knowing he would be taking Audrey out. He had kept it from her for weeks. He kept her hand in his while they walked in. They were seated and given menus. The waitress came over.

"Hi, I'm Hayley. I'll be your server today. Would you like to start with drinks?" She said as she flipped her notepad before looking to Audrey.

"Uh, can I get an iced tea, please?" Audrey said with a smile.

"Of course." Hayley nodded as she wrote. "And y," She froze as she turned her head. "Oh my god, Sam?"

Sam looked up then smiled. "Hayley, holy shit." He stood up, and hugged her. "How have you been?"

"Good!" She grinned. "Who's this?" She looked at Audrey.

"Oh, this is my good friend, Audrey." He introduced her.

Audrey's smile fell. Hayley and Sam talked a bit more before she left to get their drinks. He sat back down and looked at Audrey. She was glaring at the menu with most of her face covered. He furrowed his brows. He reached over and pulled down the menu. She glared at him.

"What's up?" He nodded at her.

"Nothing, pal." She spat. "Good ol' chum."

He sighed. "Babe,"

"No, I'm not your babe." She hissed as she stood up. "Have a good time with Hayley, bud."

She stomped out of the restaurant, sliding on her coat. Sam ran after her. He followed behind her as she tapped on her phone. She texted the girls, begging one of them to come pick her up. Holiday agreed to. She finished walking when she reached the sidewalk out front. She crossed her arms as she waited. Sam waited next to her. He just watched her.

"Are you honestly mad at this?" He huffed. "You know you're my girl, Auds."

She rolled her eyes. "No, I'm just your friend."

"You're my world, Audrey. I'm in love with you!" He told her.

"Then act like it!" She yelled, turning her back to him. "Can you just,"

"I don't act like I love you?" He cut her off. "What is this then?"

"Sam, just go home." She shook her head as her eyes watered.

"I'm not leaving you here." He argued.

"Holiday's coming to get me. You can leave." She told him.

"I'm not gonna leave you out here alone." He said calmly as he stepped towards her.

"Go! Go hang out with Hayley!" She spun to face him.

"Audrey, I dated her in seventh fucking grade! I didn't mean anything by what I said!" He hollered. "This is ridiculous!"

"No, it isn't! It makes me feel like you're embarrassed of me!" She cried as the tears rolled down her cheeks.

"Why would I ever be embarrassed of you? You're beautiful, funny, honest, the realist girl I know." He took a deep breath. "I love every fucking thing about you!"

Holiday's car pulled up and Audrey looked to the ground. "I'll see you at home, alright?" She spoke quietly.

"I love you, Audrey, as much as you think I don't." He called as she walked over to Holiday's car.

Audrey got home before Sam did. She took off her heels and stripped out of her dress. She was still crying. Holiday didn't say much to her on the ride home. Audrey was thankful for that. She frowned as she looked at herself in her mirror. Her thong was so cute and Sam wouldn't get to take it off of her tonight. She sighed, taking it off herself, along with her bra, as she changed into a pair of spandex shorts and a giant 'Falcons Hockey' sweater.

Sam stopped at the top of the stairs when he saw Audrey walk into the bathroom. She looked at him as she closed the door. He went into his room with a sigh. Audrey sighed as well. She started to wash her face, continuing to cry. She finished, dried off, and motivated herself to walk back to her room. Sam didn't even look out of his room when she walked out. She didn't know if she minded.

That night was the first night they didn't share a bed since he moved in. Sam couldn't even stay in his room that night. He carried his blankets down to the basement once he knew everyone was asleep. He sat on his phone, scrolling down Twitter. He could see she was up and it was killing him to not be with her. She saw him being just as active. Neither were happy.
