One-Shots (2014-2015 Season)

Milan Lucic's Bar Altercation

Scene: Drunk-Ass Meathead Canadian VS Aggressor and Bruin Tough Guy Milan Lucic. An attempt to explain the situation that was widely discussed during the 2013-2014 season.

****

The Boston Bruins were in Vancouver to play the Canucks on Saturday, and Bruins winger Milan Lucic went for a night out in his hometown after the game.

He didn't have the best time..

As a general rule, it's best not to get into bar fights. And you really shouldn't pick one with a professional hockey player -- especially not Milan Lucic, a Boston Bruins player with a reputation for brawling. But for whatever reason, drunk people have it in their head that they can take on whoever they want to.

So, on Saturday night, Lucic hit up the bars in his native Vancouver after the Bruins lost to Vancouver's Canucks, 6-2. (And hey, no one can blame him for wanting to have a little drink...right?) An unnamed man, apparently unaware of Lucic's day job, was captured on film hurling insults at the 6-foot-3-inch, 235-pound left winger. He was obviously drunk off his ass.
A profanity-laced video of the encounter, uploaded to YouTube, doesn't prove any punches were thrown before police intervened, though Lucic tells officers he'd been hit by the man two or three times. In an amusing show of ignorance, the assailant repeatedly yells at Lucic, "Do you know who you're f---ing with?" To which Lucic responds, "Do you know who you're f---ing with?"

Reporters asked Lucic about the video on Monday, and he took the opportunity to blast his hometown.

"I was part of an unprovoked attack on Saturday night where I was punched in the face on two separate occasions, like I said, unprovoked. From this point forward, I’m just exploring to pursue this in a legal manner. That’s probably as much as I can say right now. Like I said, I was the victim of the attack. As you can see in the video, I showed restraint by not retaliating in a physical manner. That’s basically it. That’s one of the worst parts. It’s in my home town. Going back to the spray painting of the church and my grandparents and parents and family getting harassed during the Final against the Canucks in 2011. Now it’s escalated to a point where I get attacked for just minding my own business. I have no reason left to defend my city and the people in my city. I’m kind of just disgusted and outraged that it had to come to something like that. As far as that goes, other than being in Rogers Arena, nobody will ever see me in downtown Vancouver again," he said, via Joe Haggerty of CSNNE.com. “I’m done trying to defend city I’m from.”

Lucic has had a long history of issues with his hometown since he became a member of the Bruins. After Boston beat the Canucks in the Stanley Cup Finals back in 2011, some Canucks fans vandalized his church. Prior to that, Lucic opted to keep his time with the Stanley Cup low key when he brought it home to his family.

For whatever reason, a lot of people in Vancouver think of Lucic as a traitor. Those people don’t seem to understand professional sports. They have taken driving a guy out of town to a whole different level.

We don’t know what happened before the person began recording the video, but it didn’t seem like Milan Lucic was the one looking for trouble.

Only Milan Lucic knows the answer….

The following is believed to have been the actual scenario between the Vancouver native and Milan Lucic....

You see, Milan loved his hometown. He always had as a child, but things had begun to spiral downhill since he joined the Boston Bruins.

He wandered into a bar, after the recent Bruins loss to the Vancouver Canucks. He was royally furious and had every right to be irate. His team was pretty much humiliated and if that wasn't enough, his team had injuries piling up.

He stormed into the bar for a drink. His buddies were probably doing the same thing elsewhere, even Patrice Bergeron. Plus he wanted to hang out in his hometown for a little bit longer.

He entered the bar and took a seat. He ordered a few drinks and then got up to leave. He walked out the bar with his posse or escorts. They turned their backs on Milan for one second, before someone's hand grabbed Milan by the shoulder and whirled him around.

The guy punched him the face. "Traitor!"

Milan tried to fight back, as another punch made contact with his face. The tough Bruin forward wrapped his arm around the dude’s neck and pulled him into a childish “nuggie” hold.

“Do you know who you’re fucking with?” the drunk Canadian snarled, attempting to throw another punch at Milan. “Do you?”

“(Better question is) Do you know who you are fucking with?” Milan spat back. “And no, meathead Canadian,” Milan Lucic thought, “I have no idea who you are.”

The bald, drunk Canadian shoved Milan backward, outside of the bar. Milan stiffened. He wasn’t one to take lightly to being shoved harshly.

“Do you know who you’re fucking with? Motherfucker! Huh? Do you know who you are fucking with?” Milan snapped.

“Do you know who you are fucking with?” the Canadian asshole retorted.

An officer jumped in and blocked the drunk guy from getting at Milan. “Buddy, buddy...okay!”

“I’ll fucking kill you!” Milan continued to chirp.

“Alright, alright!”

“Here you go! Here you go!” Milan taunted, jokingly offering himself up for a fight.

“How about you leave?!” the guy suggested, mockingly.

“How about I leave? You fucking hit me twice! No wait, you hit me three times! You hit me three times!”

Eventually the two men were pulled apart from one another by police officers. One of the officers pulled Milan back. Milan was still fuming. He couldn’t believe that he had been attacked in his own hometown.

“Officer, he’s a good guy!” someone in the crowd exclaimed, pointing toward the hockey player.

“Officer!” the guy cried, backing away. “You’re threatening me! Officer!”

“Milan Lucic is beyond good right now!” the witness exclaimed, holding his phone up, recording the brawl.

“Threatening you? You threatened me! Officer, he threatened me!”

“Yo, Milan! Lucic, I’m a witness, I saw it!” someone in the crowd cried, tapping Milan on the shoulder.

Milan turned to him, fire blazing in his eyes. He snapped his attention back in the direction of the officers and the drunk guy. “Take all their fucking, take all the witnesses right here. And take my buddy here. He’s my buddy!”

“Okay. Which guy?” one of the remaining officers asked.

“The guy that owns the place!”

“You know the guy who owns the place?” the officer repeated.

“Yeah! I know him! I know him!”

A second officer shoved Milan backward, pushing him away from a restless crowd. A few people began to shout, “you suck! you suck!” at Milan. Milan was beyond himself right now. How could someone attack him in his own hometown? He was speechless and in shock. “Alright. I think you’d better leave now, sir.”

“Milan! Milan Lucic! Milan!” the crowd taunted.

The officer patted Milan lightly on the shoulder and softly whispered, “Sir, sir, I think you’d better leave.”

Milan was so furious. He stormed off from the scene. He wanted to be anywhere but here in Vancouver.

He wanted to be back in Boston!

As he stormed off from the bar scene, his mind raced. He was sure that the fight was going to end up on YouTube. Where was Shawn Thornton when you needed him? Oh right, he was suspended, because of the fucking Penguins!

Sure enough, a short video captured the moment and it was posted on YouTube and then all over the web. The video only captured the tail end of the scrap, but it didn't look like he was being much of an aggressor. (Which in a weird way was kind of good...) Fortunately, according to the video’s footage, there was not an actual fight. However, there was some shoving a lot of cursing between him and the meathead Canadian, which resulted in a police officer suggesting that Milan leave.

Notes

I did have this as a stand alone One-Shot, but to decrease the amount of stories and also bring these back, I’m moving it to the One-Shot story collection along with a few others, hope you don’t mind.

Wow, this one brought back memories, it's amazing what happens to the perception of certain players and how that changes...six months ago I liked Looch, but now...I can't stand him!! He's awful and not talented...then again, that could all change in another 6 months XP

Comments

These will run until the start of next season. So I'm thinking until the week before Pre-Season in September. I might get something from a dream or on Tumblr or from the Blackhawks Convention... ;)
