One-Shots (2014-2015 Season)

91 - Behind the Number

Tyler Seguin Was Forced To Pick A New Number

Scene: The real reason why Tyler Seguin picked the number “91”. Brad Marchand wore the number “91” when he was playing in Halifax. Tyler wanted to keep a little bit of his ex-teammate/linemate in Boston. That is the real reason why he chose #91. AWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

"So, one last thing to take care of. What will your number be? Unfortunately 19 is retired."

Tyler Seguin thought hard about the question. He pondered over it. What could his number be? The only number he had known and had was the number 19. He had always been associated by the number 19.

He loved the number. So, what if he flipped the numbers around. He could be number 91. But that would be lazy. He could subtract or add by a number. But that would also be lazy.

As he thought hard about what his new number would be, he was drawn to images of his best friend, who he'd been cruelly torn away from.

He leaned forward in his chair, stroking his chin. The blinds were drawn to the office room and he wasn't sure why there was a procariously placed stack of papers with a large ink stamp of the Halifax Mooseheads logo on it.

He shook his head. He couldn't think about him. Not now.

Tyler gazed around the room. On the wall hung the image of a rat and Tyler found himself gaping at it, curiously.

"What number do you want, Tyler?"

Tyler forced himself to turn away from the image and gaze back at his new general manager. He knew what number he wanted. He had to pick it. All of the signs pointed to it.

"I'm going to go with number 91."

The GM nodded and wrote down the number. He shuffled through a few papers in the drawer of his desk. "So, why the number 91?"

Tyler flashed a boyish grin and looked past the man at the closed window.

"Let's just say that I owe this "pest" my life."

"Who?"

"I call him Marchy. He wore 91 in Halifax and he was my best friend in Boston!"

"Brad Marchand?"

"Say what you like about him, but he's my buddy! I love him no matter what!"

"Hey, it's your preference. He is a skilled power forward."

"That's my Marchy!" Tyler cried, widening his smile.

Notes

I did have this as a stand alone One-Shot, but to decrease the amount of stories and also bring these back, I’m moving it to the One-Shot story collection along with a few others, hope you don’t mind.

I'm almost certain that this isn't the real reason why Tyler Seguin picked the #91 as his jersey number for the Dallas Stars, but I think it'd be adorable if he even considered this as a reason for picking it. :) #Bromance

Comments

These will run until the start of next season. So I'm thinking until the week before Pre-Season in September. I might get something from a dream or on Tumblr or from the Blackhawks Convention... ;)

Sorry about all the updates, all of them are stories which were already on here in my collection, but they were stand-alone one-shots and I thought it'd be better to move them to this collection. Thanks! :)

OMG, this is great! Thanks for taking on my request! :D But you went back to third person for a moment here: "She throws her hands out and a glowing red energy engulfs him. He screams out, but vanishes into thin air."
Other than that, I love it! :D Thanks again! ;) Hahahaaa, yes, Bacon! :)
