Because I’ve watched too many superhero movies...here we go people…

Tyler Seguin - codenamed Black Scorpion - raced over to his friends, who were hiding behind an overturned car on the main highway in Chicago that ran over the river. They were on the Eastern side of the river. Jonathan Toews - or as he was known at the moment as Captain Blackhawk - was hovered over Patrick Kane - or Showtime - protectively, covering him with his wings and shielding him from any debris of flying particles from the battle scene. Patrick was bleeding pretty badly from a cut on his face and he was gripping tightly to his hockey stick, which he used for his weapon.

“There’s too many of them!” Jonathan shouted, looking down at his friend. “And Kaner’s hurt!”

“I’m fine Jonny,” Patrick’s scared voice came.

Tyler drew out his two guns and held them up at ready. “We got this, boys.”

Evelyn O’Reilly - or Zvezda - looked at each one of them. Beside her, and next to Tyler was Jamie Benn, who was codenamed Star Vision. “Wait, where’s Arrow Hawk and Sabrebow?”

Tyler peered around the car, just as a piece of metal, like part of a car door, flew in his direction. He jerked back as is crashed to the ground and sent sparks into the air. He then peered out again. "The two of them are surrounded by robots and it doesn't look good. There's someone in the middle with them, but I can't see who it is." He attempted to lean out more to get a better look.

“Star Vision, would you get your teammate please before he gets himself and us killed!” Zvezda snapped.

Jamie sighed and grabbed Tyler, pulling him back. The secret agent and spy for the team gasped and reported, “They’ve been captured, but I don't know who captured them!”

“Great! Not again!” Evelyn spat.

“Jonny, I’m fine, come on you don't have to protect me all the time anymore!” Patrick screamed, shoving Jonathan backward. “It’s Showtime baby!” He raised his stick up and darted from the car’s protection.

“PATRICK NO!!” Jonathan and Evelyn shouted.

Patrick began twirling his stick in his hands as he walked forward. He was like Wade Wilson swinging his swords around and deflecting bullets, while kicking butt. He was able to cut off any airborne projectile thrown in his direction by whacking it with his blade and using his superhuman hand-eye coordination.

“Screw hiding. Showtime’s got the idea!” Tyler snapped and yanked himself free from Jamie’s hold on him. He darted from behind the car and began firing off rounds in front of him. Jamie shrugged and somersaulted out of hiding. With his “star vision” he zapped beams of starry green light at the enemy, joining Tyler’s side.

“I gotta help Showtime out, you know the rules. Let’s just fight and save the archers!” Jonathan raced out from behind the car now. He flapped his wings behind him and dashed forward to backup Patrick. He began to shoot out flames of fire from his mouth as he screeched really loudly like a hawk.

Zvezda leaned against the car and sighed. “Guess we’re really doing this.” She jumped up and zoomed into the air. From where she was, she could spot the entire battle going on below. She swooped down and began to pick off the villain army robots one-by-one, shooting balls of contracted cosmic energy at them. The human-sized androids blew up instantly.

Ahead of them, Val and Nikita - Arrow Hawk and Sabrebow - were chained together on a small square platform. The platform was wooden and raised up off the ground a few feet up. They were raised up almost like they were being displayed to the city of Chicago - or the heroes. There was a force field trapping them inside. The two Russian archers were struggling and pulling at the chains, which were wrapped around their wrists and upper arms and then attached to two metal anchors bolted to the platform. Their quivers and bows were scattered on the ground at their feet.

Jonathan’s hawk screech came and then a big blast of fire hit a group of robots. Patrick spun his stick around, not tiring at all and sliced through a line of robots with a loud battle cry. Meanwhile, Jamie and Tyler were back-to-back fighting more robots. They had a pretty swell duet going together. Until Zvezda saw the robots advancing in larger numbers and overpower the spy.

“SCORPION!!” Zvezda shouted. She zoomed down and plucked off the robots, helping him out, but they knocked the guns from Tyler’s hands and, while Evelyn was busy and distracted, the robots dragged a kicking and furious Tyler Seguin away from the scene. “Star Vision! Scorpion needs help!”

But Jamie was busy with his own set of robots. Evelyn chanced a quick glance back to Tyler, but the Dallas forward was gone. Vanished. Evelyn whipped up a cosmic cloud of rage and shot back into the air. The small group of heroes needed help.

“Star Vision!” Zvezda shouted as she paused in the air, looking around. “Scorpion’s gone. Hold ‘em off and continue battling, I’m going to get some help and look for the troublesome spy!”

“Great, Zvezda, we’ll do our best!” Jonathan’s growl came.

“Yeah!” Jamie and Patrick added on.

Evelyn zoomed off, away from the scene. She had faith that the three could battle through, while she went for the help. So she flew as fast as she could to Colorado. She arrived in under 15 minutes, due to her fast flying. As she landed on the ground, she deactivated her look via her Dallas Star waist symbol. Instantly, her wings disappeared and she looked like a mortal human wearing a Dallas Stars green dress.

Evelyn headed into the Pepsi Center and was shocked to run into John Tavares and Gabriel Landeskog. They saw her and looked at her bizarrely. “Iceshot, Portal, the Hockey Avengers could use your help.”

“And what’s going on?” both men questioned.

“A trio known as the Hat Trick of Trouble, including Vanek, Red Wing and Canuck are terrorizing Chicago. They’ve captured two archers, Sabrebow and Arrow Hawk and now Scorpion! There’s a robot army too and we are badly outnumbered. We need someone with glaciokinesis and teleportation. And I’m also thinking Chaos too.”

“Chaos?!” Gabriel complained. “But he’s still learning to control his powers...he literally wrecks havoc when he uses his powers.”

Evelyn nodded. “And his powers are powerful. I promise he’s ready enough. He won’t take off anyone’s heads or hurt anyone. I swear. We need all the help we can get.”

“So, if you’re really desperate, let’s find Chaos and join the party!” John stated, smirking.

Gabriel raised his arm up and flipped his hand over. He produced some ice on the palm of his hand and smiled. “I’m in too.”

Evelyn nodded. John grabbed them both in a hug and then they vanished out of the Pepsi Center and reappeared a few seconds later in Tampa, Florida. They found themselves standing in front of Amalie Arena and walked in hurriedly. The three climbed the steps and darted into the first tunnel.

On the ice, the Lightning were running a practice. Vladislav Namestnikov was skating around with the other players. He was laughing and smiling and having a good time. Evelyn raced down the stairs and down to the boards. She banged on them at once and shouted out, “CHAOS!!”

Vladislav halted at once and spun around from where he was. He instantly frowned and skated over to her. “Zvezda.”

Evelyn shook her head, as John and Gabriel joined her, folding their arms.

“Portal. And Iceshot,” Vladislav continued.

John and Gabriel grumbled, “Chaos.”

“What could you possibly want, Zvezda?” Vladislav continued, with a dramatic roll of his eyes.

“Stop being arrogant, Vlad, you know that I’m a friend to everyone and I didn’t mean to upset you, by not including you as a “Hockey Avenger”. I could only have so many and I chose--” Evelyn began to explain.

“Black Scorpion or Scorpion, Star Vision, Arrow Hawk, Captain Blackhawk and Showtime. Yeah, save it. I’m not mad about that. And I’m not mad at you,” Vlad stated, interrupting her. He took his hand out of his glove and looked at his fingers.

“Then why are you mad?” Evelyn inquired with a heavy sigh.

Vlad tossed his head back, shaking his blond locks out and then flicked his head at Gabriel. “Ask Iceshot.”

Evelyn turned to Gabriel, who narrowed his eyes and then sighed. “Come on man, what happens on the ice, stays on the ice. I didn’t mean to run you through so hard. I was in the zone during the game and you know how that is.”

“You tripped me up with your stupid ice powers. Piss off. I’ll help you out, Zvezda, but not Ice Freak there.” Vlad glared at Gabriel, who wrinkled his nose up in disgust, returning the cold look.

“That’s good enough for me,” John remarked and teleported to the other side of the boards, grabbing Vlad, who was shocked. He teleported back to the other side. Vlad shoved himself free, but toppled over on his skates. Evelyn caught him.

“Next time, warn me before you do something like that, Portal, geez,” the Tampa Bay forward growled.

“Haha, I rather enjoyed it. Good work Portal!” Gabriel exclaimed, high-fiving John.

Vlad took a seat and removed his skates. “So, what’s the plan?”

“As I told these two, a trio known as the Hat Trick of Trouble, including Vanek, Red Wing and Canuck are terrorizing Chicago. They’ve captured two archers, Sabrebow and Arrow Hawk and now Scorpion! There’s a robot army too and we are badly outnumbered. We need someone with glaciokinesis and teleportation and you too. We need all the help we can get. Are you in?” Evelyn explained.

“I’m in. Sabrebow’s my friend and Arrow Hawk’s a Russian too. Russian hockey players have each other’s backs,” Vlad responded with a smile. He tapped his watch twice and his Tampa Bay hockey uniform morphed into his “Chaos” outfit: a black outfit with royal blue outlines and a silver spiral etched into the chest. He wore matching black and blue boots with it.

Vlad turned to the ice, to see the rest of his teammates looking at him, strangely. "Kuch!" He called out and one of the players skated forward. "Kuch, tell coach I gotta save the world, but I'll be back. Okay?"

"Okay..." Nikita Kucherov stammered, shocked and unsure what else to say.

“Great. Let’s get back to Chicago then. Portal?” Evelyn spun to the Islander.

John wrapped his arms around Gabriel, Vlad and Evelyn and they instantly vanished from the Arena, reappearing a block from the battle scene. They could hear the noises and Jonathan’s screeches, which were still strong and powerful. They all shared a look and raced to join in the fight, getting closer and closer to the action.

Vlad was the first to give off a cry and he moved his upper body and hips in a way that would make a belly dancer jealous. Blue, black and white plasma energy beams shot around him like the rings of Saturn and then shot off at the enemy. Multiple groups of robots were cut down or obliterated. “GRRRR!! I’M HERE TO WRECK CHAOS!!”

Evelyn elbowed Gabriel in the arm. “See, Landy, told you.” She activated her wings and powers once more via the Stars’ symbol.

“Whatever. I still think he’s an arrogant asshole.” Gabriel dashed forward, shooting off ice darts and taking on some more robots.

Evelyn giggled and launched back into the air. John teleported around, bewildering the robots and taking them out. Still more robots came. But Evelyn knew that they were much better and she could find Tyler. She flew toward the direction where Tyler had been dragged in and she scanned the streets looking for him.

“Black Scorpion! Scorpion, where are you?” Evelyn called out.

As she passed by an old, worn-down parking garage nearby, she heard sounds of slapping and physical abuse. She flew into the garage and dropped behind a car. She peered around the car and spotted Tyler tied down to a chair with a black bandana tied around his head. All of his spy gadgets were scattered on the ground.

“Oh, Scorpion, what the--?” She gasped as someone walked forward and leaned down to the side of Tyler’s face and seemed to whisper something to him. It wasn’t a robot...this person was dressed in a green stretchy costume...very familiar to Zvezda. “Canuck!” She watched as Canuck tormented Tyler with whatever he’d told him.

Tyler kicked at the ground and jerked at the ropes, muffling his grunts of distress. Canuck rounded the chair and Tyler, making sure to keep a finger pressed against his skin. “What’s wrong Scorpion, did I take away your poisonous bite?” Tyler kicked out in desperation and fury, but he didn't connect with Canuck. In fact, Tyler’s foot went straight through the villain’s leg. “Uh-uh, now Scorpion, kicking isn’t nice.”

“And neither is tying someone up and gagging them!” Evelyn snapped, walking out from her hiding place. “And never mess with the Dallas Stars, it’s not cool.”

Canuck spun around to her, just as she whipped up a ball of cosmic energy and shot it at him. The energy went through Canuck and hit the wall on the other side, blasting a nice hole through the cement. Tyler began to work the ropes around his wrists, while Zvezda whipped out some star darts and threw them at the villain.

The smoke cleared and Canuck stomped toward her, smiling and completely unscathed. Evelyn cussed to herself. Then an idea hit her. She continued to pester the villain with her “power of the Stars” and drew him a safe distance from the struggling spy, who would certainly need her help to get free.

“I’m shocked sweetheart, when I heard that Black Hawk the Mighty had turned into this miserable Zvezda person with the “power of the Stars,” I assumed you’d be easy to defeat--” Canuck growled with a sly sneer.

When she was certain of the safe distance, she screamed and waved her hands before her, conjuring up a black hole. Canuck blinked, unaware of the power.

“Well you thought wrong. You see, you shouldn’t make me angry, because - and I quote Hulk for this - you won’t like me when I’m angry! Good bye Canuck!” Evelyn snarled, feeding the black hole and causing it to suck the villain into it.

“This isn’t over!” Canuck shouted as he vanished into the event horizon and out of sight.

Zvezda quickly made the black hole disappear and she raced over to Tyler. She untied the bandana first and then the ropes around his wrists, holding him securely to the chair. Tyler jumped to his feet and snatched up all his gadgets and returned them to their places.

Tyler smiled at the heroine as he grabbed his guns up last and stuffed them into the holsters attached to his boots. “Thanks, Zvezda.”

“Don’t mention it Scorpion. We need everyone for this fight and that includes you.” She winked at him and then grabbed Tyler’s hand and led him to the side of the parking garage. She raised up into the air, pulling Tyler with her.

“Is this necessary, can’t I--?” Tyler started before he was whisked into the air outside by Zvezda. “Or not. Next time ask me, Zvezda!”

“Shut up Tyler, this is the quickest way.” She carried Tyler back to the others and dropped him by Jamie, who was at the corner of the block to the street Tyler had been dragged down.

“Scorpion, where have you been?” Jamie asked, shocked, pausing in his laser-zapping.

“Partying,” Tyler joked with a stern, unamused face.

Jamie gave off a quick laugh and then frowned. “Very funny. The sarcasm’s a little dry and unwelcome, but good to know you’re okay buddy.”

"Likewise, Benny." Tyler dipped his head.

Zvezda joined them and together everyone battled the robots and managed to be filled with hope. The robots continued to stream onto the street, seemingly coming from somewhere unknown, yet the heroes weren’t deterred. They battled through and managed to hold off the army with ease.

That is…

Until Red Wing and Vanek showed up…

Zvezda was attempting to go for the two archers, when something slammed into her and sent her crashing into a building. She recovered, before she hit the ground and looked up to see a red armored man like Iron Man, only all red and white and with a Red Wings' symbol etched into the chest. Red wings with white tips protruded from his back. He looked like the offspring of Falcon and Iron Man merged together.

“RED WING!” Evelyn gasped, raising back up a little bit into the air.

Red Wing grinned. “Good to see again Black Hawk, been too long.”

“That’s Zvezda to you!”

“Oh right, cause of the whole change of boyfriends, huh. Guess Jonny’s busy with the blond rat instead.”

“Showtime’s not a rat!” Evelyn spat and pushed off the building, zooming at Red Wing. She didn’t bother messing with her powers and met the villain’s fists with her hands, growling at him. “Don’t you EVER talk about my friends like that!”

“What are you gonna do about it Stargirl?”

“ZVEZDA!! You bastard!” Evelyn pushed against Red Wing’s fists, but he held strong against her.

“Your rage blinds you,” Red Wing chuckled as he suddenly shoved her back with a powerful thrust of his arms against hers. Then he opened his mouth up and emitted sound waves from it, like a silent Banshee-type character. As he screamed silently, his arms flung out to the sides of him and his fingers became talons.

Below, Captain Blackhawk looked up. He was the only one not bothered by the scream. Patrick was cringing in agony, covering his ears from the screech. All the others were doing the same thing. Jonathan patted Patrick on the head and launched into the air. He flew directly at Red Wing and slammed into him.

Red Wing stopped screeching and turned to face him. “Good, I hoped to lure you out. Remember me, pretty boy?”

“Too well, Red Wing. But I’m not the same Jonathan Toews you remember, I’ve got powers now.”

Red Wing snickered, “And a curly blondie as a lover. I heard. They call you Captain Blackhawk now.” He flicked his head in the direction of Patrick, who was spinning his stick around still and slashing robots with quick swiping motions.

Jonathan furiously gave off a loud hawk cry, which was echoed by Red Wing. This time, he didn’t puncture anyone’s ear drums, but was communicating with Jonathan. Evelyn recovered once more and flew to join Jonathan, both of them hovering over the street opposite Red Wing.

“Now, this is familiar,” the villain remarked.

Notes

This idea might be expanded later on as the plot for the sequel to Flight, called Arrow Hawk. But for now this will be a two-part one-shot. I'm just getting in practice with group scenes and writing battle scenes with superpowers and all.
A Shruinger, you know the drill, let me know if you find anything wrong with this. XP
I'll have up part 2 to this later on sometime this week (Thurs or Fri) along with all the other updates. :)
I'm X-Men-d out now....I just spent the previous week watching movies and doing an X-Men marathon and feeling completely uninspired to write...but hopefully I can get back in the swing of things here. :)

Comments

These will run until the start of next season. So I'm thinking until the week before Pre-Season in September. I might get something from a dream or on Tumblr or from the Blackhawks Convention... ;)

Sorry about all the updates, all of them are stories which were already on here in my collection, but they were stand-alone one-shots and I thought it'd be better to move them to this collection. Thanks! :)

Other than that, I love it! :D Thanks again! ;) Hahahaaa, yes, Bacon! :)
