Prove Me Wrong.

'Kieran's POV'

After Tyler dropped me off at the airport, prying for details the entire way, I found Lauren. Other than Tyler, she was the only person I gave full details of the situation to, so I had a lot to tell her before we got to San Diego. At this point she wasn’t really a big fan of Jamie, but she trusted me to make the right decision she knew deep down that Jamie wasn't Ryan. He just snapped and well, had a little bit of a Ryan temper tantrum but it was going to be okay. We sat at our gate talking quietly until it was time for us to board, when the call came over the loudspeaker she reached for my hand and gave it a squeeze "Let's go do this Snap!" Grabbing my purse I followed her to the check in line, I was so glad I had somebody with me for this journey. Without Lauren I wouldn’t have even made it this far.

The 3 hour flight was quick and easy and before I knew it we were on the ground in sunny San Diego. We took a cab to the hotel where we were staying and where the boards would be given. Starting promptly at 8 am tomorrow we would be given a 2 hour 100 question written exam, followed by a 2 on 1 oral examination for an hour. Tomorrow we would be questioned, poked and prodded, but tonight was for fun and catching up with the other future vets of America.

Lauren and I checked in and registered for our exams before heading into our hotel room. I shot my mom and Jamie a text letting them know we had made it, but didn’t give any more information. I didn’t need to distract myself anymore, this morning was enough the feeling of his lips on mine was still running wild through my head.

I unpacked my garment bag letting my dress and blazer for tomorrow de-wrinkle as I picked out an outfit for tonight's mixer. Nothing too fancy, just something nice for casual cocktail party. The "party" was lame but the drinks were free and I was down for anything that would calm my nerves. Lauren was playing it cool, like tomorrow wasn’t going to be the biggest day of our lives sipping her martini and flirting with some of the guys who were from California. I on the other hand sat at the bar sipping my whiskey on the rocks trying to hold it together.

My mind was wandering and all I could think about was that episode of Grey's Anatomy where all of the interns go to take their boards and April fails after having her mind on Jackson and not on the test. Was this going to happen to me?! I mean I'm not going to be having sex in the bathroom before my test, but Jamie is clearly on my mind after this morning and blocking him out isn't really working out.

After having 2 drinks and pushing away a handful of guys, 1 of which knew who I was but still wanted to try his moves, I left the mixer. Lauren was having a great time, but I just wanted to get comfy and study one last time. After showering and snuggling into my pajamas and the large hotel bed I plugged in my phone and got out my MacBook I was going to take the practice exam one last time and call it quits, if I didn’t know it by now I wasn’t going to. Flying through most of the questions my phone buzzed on the bedside table, a new message from Jamie. I thought about not reading it, but that was just rude especially after this morning.

It was way past midnight back home in Dallas, I wondered if he would answer if I called. One last pep talk could do me good, tapping the phone icon next to Jamie's name it began to dial.
When he answered I could tell he was in bed already, they had a game tomorrow and he needed to be well rested.

"Hey, you okay?" he asked through a small yawn, his voice deeper than normal from exhaustion. "I'd be lying if I said yes, so no. I'm not, I am freaking out." There was a rustle, like he was sitting up I could almost picture him running his hand through his hair, "Talk to me, get it all out now." I breathed in and out, "I am so scared Jamie, if I don’t pass this I've just wasted 8 years of my life." "Kier, how many times have you taken the practice test?" I tried to count, "Way too many, I just finished taking it before I called.." I could hear the smile in his voice, "And you got another 100 didn’t you?" I shut my laptop, he was right I was trying too hard. "99, actually I missed one. I guessed on it so I could call you.." He laughed on the other end, "You know what even if you fail you can still retake it, just like April." "April who?" I asked a bit confused on what other doctors he knew.

"Kepner, duh Kieran get with the program! She failed her boards and still became a badass surgeon." Oh my God, he was talking about Greys. At this point I was laughing, and I didn’t know if I was proud or embarrassed for him. "Umm, Babe, you've been watching Grey's without me haven't you?" He was laughing too, "Yeah, I'm kinda addicted. Don’t you dare tell anyone." "Your secrets safe with me J, thanks for getting me to laugh." We talked for a few more minutes before Jamie was yawning constantly.

"We need to go to sleep. I love you Jamie, thank you, I needed this." He yawned once more, "I love you too, give me updates tomorrow. You'll be back before the game right?" I smiled, We were going to be cutting it close with the flights but I was determined to make it to their game, "We might be late, but we'll be there." "Good, I'll see you tomorrow night. Go get em Red!" Hanging up the phone I had a smile plastered to my face, things may still be kind of rocky but we were on the right path to fixing things.
