Prove Me Wrong.

'Kieran's POV'

Wednesday afternoon could not come fast enough for both Jamie and I. We were both very excited to pick out our new fluff ball even if we couldn’t bring him home for another month. When I got to Jamie's tonight for dinner he met me at the door excited to show what he had bought for the dog. As I sat at the kitchen table he handed me a bag from the Dallas Stars Rally House, before going back to cooking dinner. Oh great, I thought even our dog was going to be a die-hard Stars fan.

In the bag I found a collar, leash, and bandanna all in shades of Victory Green, "Umm... Wow, Jame." I laughed putting the items back in the bag, "What? I'm the captain my dog has to be a fan." He walked back towards the table putting a plate of food in front of me, "Well, I might have bought him some stuff too.." He sat across from me, "Let me guess, A&M?" I took a bite, and nodded "Of course." He smiled, "Well I guess Knox will have good taste." Did he just call him Knox?! I nearly choked on my pasta, "Did you just call him Knox?! Are you agreeing with me now?"Jamie chased the pasta around his plate, a sly smile on his face "Maybe.. I think Rocky is too manly for our little fluff ball." "Yay!! Knox it is!" I said with a grin, excited that I had won.

I had Wednesday off so I slept in after Jamie had woken me up on his way to practice, I love that man but he does not know how to be quiet in the morning. After showering and getting dressed, the weather finally warm enough to wear shorts, I anxiously waited for Jamie to get back from practice. I was in the kitchen eating an apple when Jamie finally came through the door, tossing his gym bag on the floor as he walked. He stood in front of me as I sat on the counter, wedging his body between my legs "Hi babe," I said as I put down my apple and wrapped by arms around his shoulders. He reached out and took the apple, taking a massive bite I glared at him, he swallowed and kissed me quickly, "Hi," he spoke his lips still hovering over mine.

I shook my head pulling back, my fingers playing with the necklace under the collar of his t-shirt "You're lucky that you're cute." He laughed, leaning back in. Somebody was in a kissy mood today and I wasn't complaining. Stealing the Yankees cap from his head I put it on my head backwards so I could play with his hair as we made out in the kitchen, his hands resting on my hips under my shirt. It was heating up when Jamie pulled back, stealing his hat back, "As much as I'd love to continue that maybe somewhere else, we have a dog to get." I gave him a cheesy grin and pecked his lips one last time as I slid off the counter. After lacing my Converse I threw Knox's little Stars collar into my purse so we could claim him as ours.

When we arrived at the Breeder's a small farm outside of Ft. Worth we met a tall man a little older than us. He was clearly a Stars fan and wasn't hiding his excitement very well that the captain was buying one of his dogs. After all he was giving Jamie first pick of the litter. Being the animal specialist I was looking for not only adorableness but also health, if possible I wanted to see the parents to know what we were getting ourselves into. After introducing myself and telling the man that I was a vet he allowed me to see the father first, both parents are full grown and full blooded AKK's they were gorgeous dogs. Knox was going to grow to be 25 pounds and 17 inches, the perfect size for me to handle. After meeting Miko the father we were taken to a small barn where the mother, Joss and puppies were, there were 5 in the litter 3 boys and 2 girls so our choice was going to be hard.

The puppies were very small, moving slowly around the enclosed area. They were all adorable, grey little balls of fur and frankly I wanted all 5 of them! I felt like a child watching them as the whined for their mother, only wanting to hold them all. I fiddled with the green collar in my hands as I watched, "You can touch them, decide which one is yours." the man told us and I looked to Jamie. He smiled and nodded towards the dogs, "You pick babe, you know more about dogs than me and most people any way." I laughed, he was right I knew way too much about dogs for a normal human being. Climbing over the fence I crouched down to them, and when the first little guy came to me and rested his head on my foot I knew he was the one. Scooping him up I rubbed his head, "Hey little guy," I cooed as his eyes opened. I inspected him, nice strong build with no imperfections, healthy birth weight and paw size, he was the one.

Cradling him in my arms I stood, bringing him over to Jamie "What do you think?" I asked holding the puppy out to him. Jamie took the dog petting him softly, "He's cute, does he look healthy to you doc?" I nodded and the breeder chimed in, "Good choice, we've been calling him tank he's the biggest, 2nd born." I climbed back over the fence standing beside Jamie I petted his soft fur again, "Well I think you're it, buddy." Unclipping the collar I tightened it to fit his small neck sliding it on I couldn’t help but have a huge smile on my face. After snapping it into place Jamie handed him back to me, "Welcome to the family Knox." I said kissing the top of his head.

I pulled my phone out of my pocket asking the man if he could take our picture and he agreed. Holding Knox in my arms, Jamie wrapped his arm around my waist I smiled as the man counted down from 3, it turned out to be a great picture definitely Instagram worthy. After snapping a few more shots of Knox I placed him back in the pen, giving him one last kiss it would be another month before we could take him home. Jamie and I signed some papers making Knox legally ours before we were on our way back to Dallas. I posted the picture of the 3 of us.

Comments flooded in and I couldn’t shake the smile off my face. Noticing Jamie's hand resting on the console I grabbed it lacing my fingers with his, he looked over and smiled, "I love you, Jamie. He's perfect." Bringing my hand to his lips he kissed my knuckles, "I love you too, and he is pretty adorable babe. He's going to be a Mama's boy I can tell." That was true, he was bound to like me more Jamie wouldn't be here for the first couple months of him being home. I rubbed my thumb over Jamie's knuckle, "We'll make sure he knows who his daddy is, don't you worry." This was my semi-perfect little family, new and rebuilding just the 3 of us.
