Long Way Home

“What about orange?” I asked as I stood at the counter in the hardware store. Jamie was leaning against the carriage, Tyler was sitting on the counter and Jordie was wandering off somewhere.
“No” Tyler said with the boredom clear in his voice. We’d been there for almost an hour already and I still had no idea what color I wanted for the room.
“What about purple, like a lilac” I said showing Jamie the paper. He looked up from his phone; I think it was maybe the 20th different color I show him.
“Babe honestly anything you choose will be nice,” He said with a smile before going back to look at his phone.
I stood there for another ten minutes before this powder blue stood out to me. I picked it up and read the name; it was perfect.
“Okay boys found it, we can go” I said going to the counter with the paper in my hands, I handed it over to the man at the counter who went to the computer and started punching in things and mixing paint.
“So what the color?” Jamie ask as he hands over his card to pay for our carriage full of stuff.
“Its called Spring Renewal” I said with a smile as I grab his hand. I see a smile crawl onto his face.
“Fitting” he answers.

“I want to paint too, let me help” I whine as Jamie stands at the door blocking my way.
“Babe think about all the fumes the paint gives off. It’s bad for the baby” Jamie said as he patted my flat stomach.
“I want to see it though”
“I promise as soon as it’s done” he said before heading back into the room and leaving me in the empty hallway.
I busied myself for the next couple of hours by preparing supper and speaking with Sara. I could hear music playing from the room as the boys worked so I danced along as I started to make supper. I left the back door open as Marshal came in and out a lot. It’s only when he started barking abnormally that I went outside to check on him. I knew something was off when I saw marshall’s ears pointing up and his tail so stiff. He was looking something hidden behind a corner of the house.
“Marshall” I called for him but he didn’t answer so I went out to go see what he was looking at. I was surprised to see Paul standing in my back yard, he looked really drunk and really mad as he muttered and stumbled around.
“Paul?” I said uneasily. Marshall must have sensed something off because he put himself between me and Paul.
“There you are you little bitch” Paul mumbled as he tried to walk towards me. Marshal let out a warning growl which made him stop.
“What do you want Paul?” I said looking back at the house hoping one of the guys would be there.
“You made your sister run away from me.” He answered.
“I did what?” I answered confused.
“You told her to leave me, and gave her the money to get away.” He said, “You took my love away from me.”
“ I never told her to leave you, she came to me and asked me for the money.” I said.
“LIAR!” Paul yelled which caused Marshall to bark again. “Tell your dog to shut up,” he yelled.
“You need to leave Paul,” I said grabbing Marshall’s collar to pull him inside with me. Before I had a chance to take a couple of steps Paul grabbed by arm roughly and pulled me back to face him.
“You’re not going anywhere until you tell me where she is!” He yelled. Everything after that went really fast. I felt someone pull me away from Paul and I was shoved behind someone’s large shoulders. It took me a second to realize it was Jordie in front of me. Tyler had taken Marshall from me and Jamie was on top of Paul. I had seen Jamie fight before but this was no fight this was a beating. I knew I should yell and say something, tell him to stop but I was frozen. Jodie’s face was in my line of vision and I could see his mouth moving but I couldn’t hear anything. The next thing I knew I was falling and the whole world went black.

Sorry for the really long time between updates. I can't promise frequent update with school and work but I will say there is about 3 chapters left and I'm hoping to get it done soon. Enjoy and thanks for sticking with it!
