The next few weeks went by rather quickly. Karly had all her parent's affairs settled, she sold their home in California, had bought a home in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, and was on her way there. It was in the same basic neighborhood her cousins lived. The 4 hour flight was quite relaxing and it gave Karly time to think things over. She hadn't really had time to wrap her mind on what had happened with trying to settle everything. Her parents were dead, she was leaving the one place that was "home", and even if she didn't like them, she was leaving her friends.
It seemed like she was on the plane forever and she felt relieved when the smiling face of her cousins Jasper and Nikki greeted her. "Karly!!!! I missed you so much. How are you doing?" Nikki said hugging her
"I've been OK. Hey, Jasp, how are you?" Karly asked hugging her other cousin
"Oh I've been alright. Welcome to Pennsylvania!" he said smiling
Karly smiled "Thank-you."
"Well we better get going. We have to drop your carry-ons off at your house, then mom is making steak and potatoes." Nikki said
Karly nodded "Alright and Jasper, thanks for helping Uncle Mitch move my things into my new home. Helped me out a lot."
Jasper smiled "Yep. So it's a 23 minute drive back to the neighborhood...I know you've been sitting a lot, so do you want to stretch for a bit?"
"No, let's just get going." Karly replied
Jasper nodded and headed back towards Karly's new home in Sewickley. They dropped Karly's things off at her home then headed over to her Aunt's and Uncle's. "Mom, dad, we're home!" Jasper announced
Karly's aunt, Caroline emerged from the kitchen with her apron on. She wrapped Karly in a huge hug "Good to see you, sweetie. Are you doing OK?" she asked
"Yes, auntie. I'm just excited to be living here." Karly replied
"Karly! Welcome!" her uncle Mitch said hugging her
"Thanks, uncle Mitch." Karly replied
"After supper Nikki will take you home. You don't mind if she stays with you tonight? We don't want you to be alone your first night here." Caroline said
"That actually sounds great. Then tomorrow Jasper and I will go get my rental until my car gets here?" Karly asked
Her uncle nodded "Yes. Now, let's enjoy the food."
Karly smiled. She already felt right at home. For once in the past month, she felt happy. Genuinely happy.
