The Ice Prince and The Snow Queen

Kala Meets Jonathan Toews

But Kala Mari...she was different. Jonathan had seen the way that she had looked at him. He didn’t know her name, but he knew he liked her. But he was loyal to Patrick. He had to be. He loved Patrick and he couldn’t exactly break up with him now. Not during the hockey season. But there was something about the woman that Jonathan hadn’t felt in a long time.

Jonathan had to get to know her more and he was beginning to distance himself from Patrick a little bit. This would be the first time he’d ever kept the blond in the dark anyway. But he had to put his mind at rest and he had to solve his mystery.

And, yeah, he knew that she’d been there with some guy...but he was certain that they weren’t together. What harm would there be in just giving it a shot? He was going to go for it! So he turned to his friends, Patrick Sharp and Andrew Shaw, two of the best trackers on the team. They were pros at women and they’d be able to help him out.

Jonathan finished showering and toweling off, putting a pair of black pants on and had his plan in mind, when he felt a pair of arms wrap around his abdomen and a face press against his shoulder blades. He sighed and smiled. “Kaner?”

“I love the smell of you after a game, Jonny!”

“I know you do, sweetie.” Jonathan grabbed his shirt, which was a nice dressy white one, from the counter and held it at ready.

“Where are you going? You seem like a man on a mission!” Patrick stated, cocking his head to the side.

Jonathan peeled Patrick’s hands apart and made it so that he could turn around to face him. “Look, I was going to talk to the boys about getting you a big present.”

“But my birthday passed?” Patrick was displaying a cheeky grin as he dropped his hands to his sides.

Jonathan sighed and playfully rolled his eyes. “I know...you think I don’t know my own boyfriend’s birthday? Peeks, you’re silly. No, I’m already planning a present for your next birthday!”

“Jonny, really? Oh my gosh, man, I’m so excited!! What is it?”

“You’ll have to wait.” Jonathan leaned down and gave him a peak on the lips.

Patrick smiled and bit his lip in a sexy way. “I hate the suspense, Jonny. You know that.”

“It’s called a birthday surprise for a reason, Kaner baby. Now, let me finish getting dressed so I can get you a present.”

“Okay. But Jonny, next time tell me you’re taking a shower, cause you know that I love to join you.”

“I know. I’m sorry I forget.” Jonathan kissed him again and then pulled his shirt on, fixed it in place and walked out, leaving Patrick with a stupid grin on his face. As he walked off, he could feel Patrick’s eyes on him and he swore he heard the blond sigh.

There was no way in hell, he could break Patrick Kane’s heart!

Jonathan walked over to where Andrew and Sharpie were. The two happened to be standing in the locker room chatting together. It was almost a perfect coincidence. A happy accident. The brunette captain stopped, standing between them.

“Jonny?” Sharpie questioned.

“Where’s Kaner? Normally you’ve got him clinging to you like a leech, man,” Andrew chuckled.

Jonathan gave him a hard look and folded his arms. “I do not, Shawzy.”

“Oh man, you dumped him, didn’t you?” Sharpie inquired, shaking his head.

“NO! Look,” Jonathan glanced around, but luckily no one was paying any attention to him. He brought his voice down to a whisper still. “I need help with a girl. There was this pretty redhead in the arena tonight. I have to know who she is and what her name is!”

“Ah...but I thought you didn’t like girls...because of the whole--” Andrew began.

Jonathan waved his hands in front of him. “I know. And I’m loyal to Patrick and I love him. But...I haven’t felt this way about a girl since...since Ashia.” He sighed. “Please, just help me out with this. I just gotta know, she’s on my mind and I can’t let Kaner know.”

“Alright, alright. We got you Jonny,” Sharpie remarked. “We’ll get you answers and put your mind at ease. Can’t have you, the captain, being distracted by some girl.”

“Great. Thanks guys. Knew I could count on you.” Jonathan hurried off from them, grabbing his stuff up from his locker. He darted back into the showers and found Patrick singing, as he was standing shirtless in front of a mirror and combing his hair.

Jonathan dropped his stuff on the ground and walked over to him. He picked Patrick up and raised him into the air like Simba. Patrick yelped and gasped. How was Jonathan Toews picking him up.

“Oh, Kaner!” Jonathan cried.

“Oh, Jonny!?” Patrick echoed, a little bewildered. He was set back down on the ground and instantly wrapped up in a big embrace by his older boyfriend. “What’s going on Jonny?”

“I’m in love!” Jonathan sang out. “I’m just so happy, I could kiss you forever!” He pressed his lips to Patrick’s and did just that. But after five minutes, he backed off. “Wanna hang out tonight?”

“Dinner?”

“I’m thinking the whole night...and the morning.” Jonathan winked at him.

Patrick grinned again. “I’d love that!”

Jonathan smiled. “Great. I have just the place we can go.”

“You pamper me so much Jonny.” Patrick threw his arms around the brunette and hugged him tightly. “I love you so freaking much!”

Jonathan frowned and stared into the mirror at himself. He was ashamed that he was even contemplating being bi. How could he hurt Patrick? But he shook the thoughts away and ran his hand through Patrick’s curly blond locks and gave him a sweet kiss on the forehead, as he whispered, “I love you too, Kaner.”

Meanwhile,

Dimitri Nikolaikov was continuing to try and woo Kala Mari. Now that she was into hockey, he had one more special gift for her. He wasn’t sure that she’d be into hockey, but since she was, Dimitri had scored some tickets to a Blackhawk meet-and-greet session. Patrick Sharp, Andrew Shaw, Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews and Brent Seabrook would be at the event. It was a fun little “give-back” to the fans type of event. It was something hockey players and fans loved.

Kala had agreed to go to the event and had said, “I love you Dimitri!” But he knew it was meant in more of a friendly kind of way. But it was still something.

The two had time to kill before the start of the shooting for the movie anyway. And this would only take three hours at the most. And it was good for them to bond and get closer. And also so Kala could maybe see Patrick and Jonathan being a couple, so she’d be turned off by her feelings toward the captain.

They arrived to the busy United Center once more and made it through. They’d made sure to get to the arena early, before the big rush and they were quickly in and mingling with the fans and players.

Kala smiled, as she stood in the front of the line, ready to go through to meet Jonathan Toews. Sure enough, she spotted him instantly. He was standing with...Patrick Kane. Naturally. Now that she knew them both from Dimitri’s videos, she knew how inseparable the two were. How linked they were.

As she let her eyes wander over the handsome brunette captain, she couldn’t help but be taken aback by how gorgeous he actually looked in person. He really was quite a hottie.

Jonathan was eager to meet the fans, he always loved these events. He loved to see the fanbase grow in numbers and it was nice to make the fans happy and to “give back”. Patrick felt the same way. And doing together made it even more special. The first fan came by with both of their jerseys to get signed.

“So when’s the wedding?” the woman had asked.

Jonathan didn’t mind the teasing question and he joked back, saying, “In a week. Kaner and I have big plans.”

Patrick was a little more shy. And he elbowed Jonathan in the shoulder. “You’re not supposed to joke like that...oh man, now we’re gonna get swamped with “Kazer” stuff.”

“Relax, Kaner. It’s all in fun...just…” he trailed off as Sharpie came over and nodded to the line. He spotted Kala in the line, where Sharpie had nodded his head. “Oh no...that’s her!”

Patrick looked at his boyfriend awkwardly. “Uh, Jonny…who?”

Sharpie backed off and returned to his table, beside Brent. Andrew was chuckling, watching them.

Shit! Patrick had heard him. Great, uh, what could he do? What could he do? “Just this girl I met long ago who broke my heart. She’s nothing to me now...you’re the world to me, Peeks.” Jonathan patted Patrick on the back. Whew! That was a lie...oh God, he’d lied to his boyfriend...this was not turning out to be good. This woman needed to go. She was ruining all he’d built with Patrick.

“Okay…you’re the world to me too, Jonny.”

The woman came up to them. “You’re-you’re Jonathan Toews right...and Patrick Kane?” She was a giggling, blushing mess. Typical fangirl. The man with her rolled his eyes, annoyed.

Jonathan faked a kind smile. “Yeah. You were at the game last night right? You were batting your little girly eyelashes at me? Weren’t you? WEREN’T YOU??” His face was bright red with anger.

Patrick looked at him, awkwardly. “What’s wrong with you, Jonny? You’ve been acting weirdly since the start of the game yesterday man.”

Jonathan turned to him, instantly gasping and calming down. “There’s nothing wrong...I just-just need a drink that’s all. Can you get me a drink Peeks? Please?”

“Sure, uh…” Patrick nodded, and looked between his boyfriend and the woman and man.

“You’re the best, buddy. Love you lots.” Jonathan kissed him on the lips. Patrick grinned and then he walked off with a shrug and a large smile. Jonathan watched him, until he was safely out of earshot and eyeshot and instantly leaned over the table. “Look, you’re distracting me. Last night, after the game, I couldn’t stop thinking about you...and it’s hurting my relationship with Kaner.”

Kala put her palms on the table and leaned forward. “Well, you’re ruining my relationship with Dimitri.”

Dimitri blinked as the two held their faces an inch apart from one another.

“If you wanna talk about this some more, fine. But I don’t see how you’ve got a problem with me. You shouldn’t. I didn’t do anything to you!” Kala continued, backing off.

Jonathan relaxed and dropped his head. “I’m sorry. Truth is, I’ve never felt something about a girl like you...like I did last night. Not for a long time. I just couldn’t stop thinking about you and it’s really making things rather difficult on me...I mean, Kaner…” The brunette turned his head, so that he was looking toward where Patrick had gone in. “I love him, okay. I’m madly in love with him. I know you saw us kissing on the bench. That wasn’t a figment. That was real. The boys know about it...but it’s all true. I love Patrick Kane with all my heart...then you showed up!” Kala took a step back. Jonathan tilted his head back up to look at her. “I have nothing against you. But surely you understand me.”

Kala was frozen in place, unmoving. It was as though time had frozen. Then Jonathan deflated and looked down at the table and sighed. Dimitri looked shocked and he was staring at his co-actor.

Kala eventually blinked and stepped forward. She took Jonathan’s head in her hands and looked him square in the eyes. “I understand your pain, don’t worry. I forgive you. My name’s Kalila. But many know me as Kala Mari. I’m an actress. And your secret is safe with me. Good luck with Patrick. You are a real cute couple.”

Jonathan blinked in stunned silence now, looking deep into her blue eyes.

Kala let his head go, dipped her head and walked off. Dimitri turned to follow her. As they moved on, they saw Patrick coming back from his water trip. He spotted them and stopped, calling to them.

“Jonny doesn’t mean everything he says. I think the playoff pressure’s getting to him. I feel bad for him yelling at fans...no matter who they are.”

“Thanks, Kaner, but it’s okay. Really. I talked to Jonny and we’re fine. Everything’s okay,” Kala stated. “Just go back to him and make him happy.” She gave him a wink and a kind smile.

“Okay. But I mean it, why don’t you stop by the rink for a practice?”

“That would be lovely, but we’re actors working on this project...and...well...we’re only here for so long and have so much time.”

“I understand. But if you get time and want to stop by, just tell ‘em Patrick Kane invited you.”

“Alright. Thanks.”

“Anything for the fans.” Patrick continued to walk back to Jonathan, who had resumed his hockey player role and was busy signing jerseys and whatnot for the fans. The blond joined him and passed him the water.

Kala and Dimitri continued to the exit. But Kala hesitated and looked back. She smiled as she saw Jonathan and Patrick back to normal once more. She couldn’t come between them, part of why she’d turned down Patrick’s offer, knowing the poor captain’s mixed feelings at the moment. She wanted to stay as far away as possible from them. Dare she say, she cared a ton for Kazer.

As she watched them, Jonathan’s eyes suddenly met hers and he smiled at her. It was as though they were exchanging good-byes. Kala finally shook her head and walked out, joining Dimitri outside. She wrapped an arm around him and he put his arm around her shoulders.

“Let’s get back to the set...I’m ready to get Dublin’s ass!”

Dimitri chuckled at her and they headed to the car and drove to the set. One more hour until the shooting began and thirty minutes until call time.

Notes

Kazer Drama...not a fan of it...Kazer is love, but...Kazer will always be together, whether it's a couple or a friendship, but there's always drama...unfortunately.
