The Ice Prince and The Snow Queen

Blackhawks Practice and Kazer

The first day of shooting came and went, Dublin successfully kidnapped Dimitri (or Johnny) a good sixteen times. Dublin was still himself, mean and villainous and picking on Dimitri, but the two eventually escaped back to the hotel.

Kala sat on the end of the bed in the room her and Dimitri were sharing. They had to build chemistry somehow. She stared at the TV, blankly and continued to sigh every five minutes. She was thinking about the morning run-in with the Blackhawks. Jonathan was on her mind. The poor man was an emotional, sexually confused hockey player, who thought that he loved Patrick Kane...with ALL his heart.

But that wasn’t true at all.

She desperately wanted to stay away from the practice, but as the stars were aligning in the night sky, she couldn’t help but think of how fate was setting her up. She did have time for the practice and she did want to see Jonathan again.

It had been true love at first sight.

So, following her heart, she drove to the practice alone, without Dimitri. She walked in and told the man in charge, who instantly let her in. Apparently Patrick had been truthful and had told him. She made her way into the practice facility, having been told it was Johnny’s Icehouse. And she sat down in one of the seats.

She spotted a few players warming up, before more launched out, including the dazzling captain and his best friend. Patrick and Jonathan skated around the rink together. They went through a general lap, just skating around and warming their legs up. Patrick broke from Jonathan and skated over to the boards, in front of where Kala was.

“So, you’re Kala Mari, the famous actress working on the new Disney movie, The Ice Prince and the Snow Queen, right?” Patrick asked, while still half-paying attention to the ice. He unclipped his helmet in the process.

“Yeah,” Kala replied.

“Yesterday you seemed pretty certain you wouldn’t make it, what changed your mind? And where’s your boyfriend?” Patrick queried, removing his helmet from his head now and shaking his head.

“Well, turns out I do have time and Dimitri’s not my boyfriend. We’re just friends.”

Patrick spun to her. His blue eyes shimmered in the arena lighting. “You aren’t here for Jonny are you?”

“No. I’m just here as a fan, wanting to make an invite useful. I also was hoping to speak with Jonathan about something.”

“What about?”

Kala racked her brain for a response. “It’s about something I did to him.”

Patrick nodded. He sent her a wink. “I read you loud and clear. Are you wanting to talk to him and make up with him for when you broke up with him? I guess, I should thank you for doing that...but that would be entirely bad of me. I’m a good guy.”

“I’m sure you are, Kaner...and that’s exactly it.”

Patrick whipped back around, slowly and tossed his head rather dramatically. Then he put his helmet back on his head. “Hang on and I’ll get him.” He skated off, clipping the helmet back into place.

Jonathan had gathered a puck into the blade of his stick and was stickhandling away from the chaos. Patrick dug his stick in and stole the puck. Jonathan complained and looked at him in a scolding fashion.

“Kaner!”

“Jonny, Kala’s here. The actress.”

Jonathan snapped his head to the boards, instantly spotting her. He turned back to Patrick, who was grinning. “What did you do?”

“Nothing. I felt bad that you’d yelled at her and invited her to the practice.”

“Oh, Kaner…” Jonathan sighed. He grabbed the blond and they skated a little more to the side, away from Kala. She watched them with bewilderment. Jonathan faced Patrick. He had to let the blond know the truth...he just couldn’t hide things from him anymore. Patrick didn’t deserve to be lied to anymore. “You shouldn’t have done that. You know what, she’s not an ex-girlfriend...she’s just a girl.”

“What are you saying?” The smile faltered on the blond winger’s face.

“I’m saying that...the truth is...please don’t be mad, I was just trying not to make you mad...but the truth is, I kind of like her.”

“What?!” Patrick blurted out.

“I like her, Kaner. Like, I had feelings for her...at the game, at the Meet-and-Greet, after the game. I think about her...not all the time, but at moments and it clouds my vision...and-but I never wanted to hurt you, Peeks.” Patrick’s mouth was open in shock. He slowly skated backward, away from Jonathan. Jonathan was on the verge of tears. “Please, please don’t leave me Kaner...please. I’m sorry. I really do love you.”

Patrick gave off a squeak and then whirled around and skated hard for the bench and the exit. He shoved Brandon Saad out of the way and raced down the tunnel.

“PEEKS!! NO!!” Jonathan screamed, skating after the blond. “Peeks, come back!!”

Kala got up from her seat. There was only one thing she could do. Getting between Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews was something she’d never planned on doing. She ran through the stands and jumped into the tunnel, beating Jonathan and darted after Patrick, slipping into the locker room, before Patrick slammed the door on Jonathan.

“Patrick, listen to me,” Kala began as Patrick angrily bolted the door and stormed over to his stall. “I never meant to come between you two. That was never my goal.”

Patrick glanced up at her with tear-stained eyes. “But you did. And worse, Jonny lied to me! My BOYFRIEND lied to me!!”

Kala took a step forward. “He was protecting you. He cares so much for you and I know you care about him. When we talked at the Meet-and-Greet, I saw just how much he cares about you...and I can’t get take him from you. It’s not right...but Jonathan is bi, he will have feelings for girls, because once upon a time, I think he did love a girl. Those feelings stay with you.”

“You-you don’t love him?”

“I do, honestly I do and I can’t get him out of my head either, but...I guess what I am saying is that you should just let him decide. If you want him to be happy.”

Patrick sniffled. “And what about me being happy? I was happy with him...I loved him.”

“I know. I see that. But Jonny is bi, and it is up to him whether he’ll be happy with a girl...or with you. I know it is difficult, but that is what I wanted to tell him. I know an actor who is just like him, his name’s Matthew. He was exactly like Jonathan, and he chose to go to the male side. Granted he’ll happily act in straight roles, but he was bi and went homo.”

“And what do I do if Jonny doesn’t pick me?” Patrick choked on the tears.

Kala sat down next to him and took one of his hands, removing the glove. “I can hook you up with someone...or better yet, I can help you through the process.”

“Alright...but I don’t think there’s anyone like Jonny. You don’t know him like I do. For seven years we’ve been together. And he’s everything to me.” Patrick wiped his eyes. “I love him.”

Kala held his hand in her own, being gentle and caring. “If you love him, you’ll let him be happy and make his choice.”

Patrick nodded and sighed, rubbing his face with his hands. She had a point. He closed his eyes and then looked at her once more. “You’ve got a point.” Patrick got to his feet and walked over to the door. He unlocked it. “I’m not going to force Jonny to do anything. And if he picks you, well I wish you two best of luck.”

Kala nodded to him. “Thank you Kaner, I’m sorry it had to be this way.”

Patrick nodded and opened the door. Jonathan instantly wrapped him up in a massive bear hug. The brunette was in tears, just like his blond teammate. Jonathan kissed Patrick’s forehead numerous times.

“Please don’t do that again Kaner baby, oh, I’m so so sorry. I’ll never lie to you again! Never, ever, ever!” Jonathan sobbed, with happiness.

Kala watched them and watched as Patrick slowly broke into a smile and hugged Jonathan back. They were adorable. Eventually they settled down, wiping away the tears and grabbed one another’s hands, turning to Kala.

“Well, I see you have chosen, good luck to you both. I guess, this is the last time, I’ll see you Jonathan.” The redhead walked toward the door to the locker room.

“Kala, wait,” Jonathan called. “I haven’t chosen yet. I’d like to actually get to know you, maybe go out on a few dates...meet your friends and fellow actors...and then I’ll decide. Is that okay Kaner?” He looked at his friend.

Patrick nodded. “That’s fair. No guarantees I won’t get insanely jealous though. But I have faith Jonny will end up choosing me! We’re going on eight years, Tazer.”

“Kaner, don’t be cocky. Cocky Kaner is not a sexy Kaner.”

Patrick blushed and turned his head to the side.

Jonathan let go of Patrick’s hands and closed the locker room door once more. Kala looked at him, as he put an arm around her shoulder and guided her back to the stalls. They all sat down. Jonathan in the middle. Patrick hugged Jonathan’s arm, refusing to let go. The captain looked at Kala, who was watching the blond with amused interest.

“Quite clingy, isn’t he? Never thought - with those skills I saw during the game - that he’d be the clingy type.”

“Live and learn, I love my Jonny so much! Every part of him!!” Patrick remarked.

“So, what’s your story, Kala? I mean, you claim to be an actor...how’d you find time to come to all the Blackhawk’s stuff...and why haven’t I seen you before, if you’re such a fan?” Jonathan asked. “Surely you’ve got a story.”

“I do. I was never into hockey or sports really, but my co-actor, Dimitri, he’s a huge hockey nerd. He loves the Blackhawks and Stars. But he likes any hockey. He’s just a big fan, grew up that way. Anyway, he was the one who got me into the sport. He took me to the game and told me all about it. I’m a fast learner...and he was right, Chicago’s the best team to start off watching hockey with. You all are so talented.”

“So you haven’t always been into hockey?” Jonathan and Patrick questioned in perfect unison.

“Nope. I’m very new.”

“Huh, I never knew that Chicago had that effect. I knew we had a strong fanbase, but…” Patrick looked up at his boyfriend with big blue eyes.

“What made you a fan?” Jonathan dared to ask.

Kala smiled. “Why...it was you two.”
