‘Kieran’s POV’

You would think sending 5 grown men into a tux shop with simple instructions wouldn’t be too much to ask. But I guess I didn’t take into account that those “grown men” are in all reality children who play hockey for a living. Maturity runs low when they get together off the ice, which is often. Being the optimist I am I left Jamie a note with the things he would need to get to try on tuxes and set off for work not thinking that they would not need my assistance for this small task. However, two texts and a confused phone call later I’m on my way to the tailor.

I was feeling pretty confident in leaving this trip up to Jamie after we had settled on wedding colors and narrowed down the choices for groomsmen tuxes a few days ago. But I guess plans change, especially when athletes and their oddly shaped bodies are involved. Pulling into the tailor’s parking lot I spotted Jamie’s truck, Tyler’s Ferrari, and Cody’s Benz, locking my Jeep I set off for the door ignoring the fact that I was in scrubs and a lab coat. Inside I was greeted by a sharply dressed man, “Can I help you Miss?” he asked as I looked around. I gave him a small smile before I heard Tyler’s distinct laugh, “I’m meeting my fiancé, but I think I hear his group.” He waved me through the doors as I braced myself to deal with the idiots.

‘Jamie’s POV’

In my defense I really thought I could handle this on my own, until we got here and the colors the guy had set up didn’t look like what Kieran wanted and I was in no position to screw with her colors. After the tailor struggled to fit Jordie I knew it was time to call in reinforcements. When the door to the backroom opened I had a feeling it was my favorite red head. As Kieran popped into the room Tyler and Cody sounded like middle school girls, “oooh, you’re in trouble…” Thankfully Kieran laughed as I scratched the back of my head, “Hi babe,” I said as I looked down at the blue dress pants I was wearing. She now stood beside me assessing the half suit I was wearing, “What’s the problem, Cap?”

The tailor appeared from the back room as she spoke, “Oh good are you the Bride?” he asked extending his hand to my fiancée. Kieran shook his hand and introduced herself before they dove into fixing the problem. Five swatches later and comparing different tie and pocket square combinations Kieran was satisfied with “the look” of the groomsmen tuxes. It was far from what I had been looking at when we got here so thank god I called her or I would have definitely been sleeping on the couch. The final product was a dark navy suit with a vest and champagne/tan colored bow tie, a blush pink pocket square would be complemented with a blush and gold boutonniere on the day of the wedding.

Kieran chose a blush and coral color scheme accented with champagne and navy blue with hints of gold glitter. It was really pretty but I would have rather had victory green, or something a little more manly. But you know the saying, happy wife happy life right? So why argue over colors, besides she’s going to look good in anything she wears, except maybe green she still struggles with looking like a Christmas tree in Victory Green. Maybe that’s why she chose the colors she did, they look good with her red hair and Cody’s too. Having two gingers in the wedding meant they got a little special attention.

When we were all sized and Tyler had stopped checking himself out in the mirrors we set a date for our final fitting in a few weeks when my dad and other groomsmen from Canada would be in town. Kieran was standing beside me at the counter when she checked her watch. “Shit,” she muttered under her breath and I knew she was late for something, “Go, babe we’re good now.” She looked at me to make sure I was serious, “You sure?” Great, now she’s going to think I am incapable of doing anything for this wedding.

“Yes, I can handle setting up an appointment. Sorry I bugged you at work,” her nose wrinkled as she gave me a goofy grin, “No problem, I’m glad you called but I do have a surgery in 20 minutes.. I love you!” she kissed my cheek, slung her stethoscope from the pocket of her lab coat back around her neck and slipped out the door all before I could return my love. That girl was a whirlwind, but I was glad to be stuck in the middle of it.

Notes

I honestly believe this would happen if you set a bunch of hockey players loose to do anything for a wedding! Especially if mirrors and Tyler Seguin are involved.. ;) xoxo -Ally
