Never Let Go.

Date Night.

'Kieran's POV'

Most girls, well maybe I should refer to them as "brides" get to choose when their wedding will be based upon their favorite season, or a special date, or they can just run off in the middle winter to a nice warm beach to say I do. But me? Well I get to plan my wedding around hockey season, lucky me. Why did I have to fall in love with a man with tight schedule?! Curse the NHL!

Jamie being the sweetheart or should I say suck up that he is made dinner so it was ready to go when I got home from work. During hockey season it's a rare night for Jamie to be home at night before 11 o'clock and I would love to spend it doing anything but picking our wedding date. But I know it needs to be done. Jamie's bribed me with a Bud Light and the promise of the remote when we are done to sit down and pick a day to change my last name.

So here we are sitting at the bar in the kitchen with a calendar and the giant wedding planner book my mom bought me (that I haven't even cracked open yet). Pulling my knees up in the chair revealing my unicorn printed leggings I open the giant book, filling out the first two lines. Bride and groom, I stare blankly at the next line that reads wedding planner. Were we going to need one of those? Maybe I should go back through all of those emails from the day the news came out, shrugging it off I moved to the next line, wedding date. Looking over to my fiancé who was scrolling through Twitter I tapped my pen on the page, why couldn't we just get married tomorrow?

"June or July?" I ask Jamie as our options are limited with the small offseason that hockey allows. Putting his phone down he reaches for the calendar flipping the pages back and forth between the two months, "Either way it's going to be hot as hell," he had adds I take a sip of my drink chuckling a little. "It'll be hotter in mid-July around your birthday, so we could do the end of July or the first weekend in August." I tell him knowing that we both want an outdoor wedding and the heat will play a major factor, this is Texas after all. Jamie flips the calendar to August tapping his finger on the 5th, "I like August 5th... Eight-five?"

The numbers run through my head, 8/5/17, August 5, 2017, August fifth, two-thousand and seventeen. The perfect day to become Mrs. Jamie Benn. A smile creeps onto my face as I look up at Jamie, "I like it too." "Yeah?" he asks to confirm and I nod. "Yup," I say popping the p, "I want to marry you on August 5th, you in?" He leans over, a cheesy grin on his face "Oh, yeah baby. I'm all in."

We both end up laughing into our kiss and that’s what makes our relationship interesting, we are both such dorks sometimes we can't ever be normal or all that serious. Looking back down at the wedding planner I pick up the pen filling in the line with August 5th, 2017 before closing it shut. "There, we have a date!" Jamie hops down from his chair shaking his head a little as he tosses our empty bottles in the trash, "Babe if you don't want to do all this yourself we can get a wedding planner to do it for us."

Tapping my nails on the hard top of the book I think about it, between Jamie's schedule and my hours at the clinic we really don't have time to sit down and discuss all the small details all that often. With a wedding planner we could have it all done with a few meetings, "Are you okay with that?" I ask Jamie pulling on my bottom lip a little, unsure of if we should hire out. "Kier," he's behind me now wrapping his arms around my shoulders, leaning down his voice low in my ear, "I know this isn't your thing, and it's not really mine either so let's get someone who actually cares about flowers and invitations to make sure everything looks good." Oh dear god this man is perfect! I smile moving my hands to his arms, "Yeah. Okay, we can just do the easy part. Well at least I think I can handle saying I do, can you?" Jamie scoffs as he kisses my cheek, "Yeah Kier, I can handle that part too."

I hop down from my chair adjusting my sweatshirt and follow Jamie into the living room curling into his side as he settles into the couch. He reaches out for the remote and I slap his hand, "I don't think so, that's mine!" I sass sitting up and grabbing the remote from the table. "Seriously?" he asks and I nod turning the channel from Sports Center to ABC Family catching the middle of some Christmas movie even though it's not even Thanksgiving yet.

"BAAABEEEE," Jamie whines, sticking out his bottom lip and trying to use those dark brown eyes to get me to change my mind on my pick. "Put those away Jamie, we're watching this I held up my end of the deal now it's your turn." He mumbles something along the lines of "stupid deal" as he wraps an arm around my shoulder pulling me down with him to lay flat out on the big couch. With my head laying on his chest as the movie plays I hear Jamie whisper into my hair "I love you" as his breathing evens out. Even though he's asleep I tell him I love him too wrapping my arm tighter around his waist, these were moments I couldn't get enough of. The little things were what made me want to marry the man beneath me more and more every day.
