Somebody to Love

Chapter 12

About two weeks has passed and now Marc is on the second half of a road trip; the first half brought a 4-3 win against the Ducks and a tough 5-2 loss to the Kings. He was down about that game as I thought he would be, so I was hoping that tonight would end with a different result. They were playing the Sharks and I knew this would be a good match up because of the two stellar goaltenders. Madison came over to watch the late game with me. We sat back on the couch with our eyes glued to the screen as the game came on. I still giggled every time they would show Marc right before a game started, which is something Maddy just shakes her head at since she can't believe that I still do. I didn't care; if she had a boyfriend on the team, she'd probably be doing the same thing. Less than four minutes in, San Jose scored first and I was a bit peeved because I wanted us to score first, but I got over it. Going into the third, we were down by two, but I wasn't upset about or anything like that until the Sharks scored again, not even two minutes into the period. I was frustrated about the fact that we couldn't get a goal past Nabokov but was sad and wanted to hug Marc when he got pulled. He was so down that I just wanted to hug and comfort him, but I couldn't even do that after the game.

"You have no idea how much I want to give him a hug and kiss him. Having to wait until next week sucks ass."

I teared up a little and Madison simply hugged me.

"Aww honey. This is tough, isn't it?"

"Yeah, but at least I can still talk to him. Hearing his voice does make me happy. I have no idea how the other WAGs do this though." I said with a light laugh.

She smiled and laughed a bit as well.

"I'm sure that they can come back and win this."

"Me too."

We went back to watching the game and witnessed more fights, penalties and two more Shark goals. That's how the game ended and only an hour after Madison left, I got a call from Marc.

"Hey." I said quietly.

"Hey." he said sounding sad.

"Marc...don't be so down. You have to remember that you guys can't win every game and everyone played their best."

"I know. It's just that I hate losing two games in a row, you know?"

"Yeah." I said sounding sad myself.

I was tearing up to tell you the truth.

"What's wrong?" he asked concerned.

"Nothing's wrong." I said immediately.

"I know that you're lying, Bella."

"I'm just missing you like crazy is all."

Tears began to roll down my face. I got under the covers and laid down.

"I miss you too. I wish I could be there with you right now."

I began to smile, but the tears continued to run down my face like a goddamn waterfall.

"You just put a smile on my face. Thanks. You're too good to me."

"It's my pleasure and you deserve to be treated the way I treat you. I love you so much."

I melted and blushed.

"I love you so much too."

"I'd love to talk to you all night, but I need to get to bed."

"Ok. Goodnight. I love you."

"Goodnight. Je'taime."

I hung up and sat my phone on my nightstand. He told me I love you in French; it resonated in my head for the longest time. He has never said that before, and I wondered all night why he decided to say it in his native tongue. The following day, I decided to call my mom and talk to her about it.

"Hello?"

"Hi Mom!"

"Hi honey! How are you?"

"Awesome. How are you?"

"Great. What's up?"

"Not much, but I miss Marc like you wouldn't believe."

"Aww...how is he by the way?"

"Well, last night, he was feeling down again because they lost two games in a row and he was pulled after letting in three goals, but I suppose he's feeling better today."

"That's good. Are we gonna meet him anytime soon?"

"How does Christmas sound to you? I'm meeting his parents around that time as well."

"That sounds wonderful! I'm so excited! He sounds so sweet."

"Oh he is and by the way, once he talks to his parents, we'll figure out a date. Things are gonna be tight because of his schedule."

"Alright. Can't wait!"

I smiled.

"Hey, I need to tell you something."

"What's wrong?" she asked seriously.

"Nothing Mom. Marc told me he loved me in French before we hung up late last night."

"Aww...how did/do you feel about that?"

"I felt special. It made me melt and I cannot get it out of my head."

"What is it in French anyway?"

"Je'taime." I said dreamily.

"Ok. It's official. I absolutely need to meet him."

I laughed.

"I'll let him know that, the next time that I speak to him."

"Alright Bella." she said laughing.

I heard my doorbell ring.

"Mom? I have to go. Someone's at my door."

"Ok. I'll talk to you later then."

"See ya."

"See ya."

I hung up and walked into the living room to answer the door. I opened the door to find Madison on the other side.

"So, why am I honored with your presence today?"

"I needed to get out of the house. What do you want to do?"

"First of all, I need to talk to you." I said with a huge smile on your face.

"With the look on your face, I need to hear it."

We laughed as we sat down on my couch.

"What is it anyway?"

"Marc told me that he loved me in French last night." I said while I giggled.

Her mouth was wide open and I knew that she was about to squeal. She hugged me tight and let go seconds later.

"It's Je'taime, right?"

"Yep." I said, nodding excitedly.

"Why do you think he said it?"

"I don't know, but I'm certainly gonna ask him when he comes back. He made me melt."

"I swear. You have the best boyfriend! He seems to be perfect, although he isn't. Does that make any sense?"

"Yes and thanks. I do have the best boyfriend, don't I?"

"Shut up." she said, responding to my fake conceited response.

I just laughed.

"Oh! I totally forgot. I have something to tell you."

"What is it?"

"I met a guy."

"You met a guy? What's his name?! Gimme details, girl!"

"Yep. His name is Matt and he has dark brown eyes, blue eyes, is 6'3 and teaches chemistry at the high school in our school district."

"Holy shit! When can I meet him? Does he like hockey?!"

"Probably sometime this week and duh! Of course he likes hockey! I wouldn't be dating a guy who doesn't like hockey. You should know that."

"Alright. That was a stupid question."

"Yes. It was."

I rolled my eyes. The rest of the day, we decided to watch movies all day, since we didn't feel like getting up off our asses and actually do some physical activity. By the time I went to bed, all I could think about was how fast the first three days of the week would go because all I wanted was Marc back here in Pittsburgh with me.
