Somebody to Love

Chapter 2

The next day came quicker than I thought. It was my first day of school and to say that I was excited was an understatement. I must be weird too because I love waking up early in the morning. After grabbing a Rockstar out of the fridge and a Special K bar, I was set. It didn't take me all that long to arrive at the school, even though there was traffic, but maybe the reason why I wasn't late was because I was great with directions? Probably. The school was just as I imagined it would; one building consisting of three floors and ten classrooms on each of those floors. I went to the office immediately to grab the necessary items I would need for the school year. I talked to the secretary.

"Hi. I'm Bella Leyton, the new music teacher."

"Welcome. I have all that you will need right here." she said cheerfully.

She handed me an attendance book, the lesson book, the roster book and etc; she also explained everything. I headed to the music room which was on the first floor and adjacent to the art room; the room was huge, but it wasn't overwhelming. It was quite exciting and I could not for the life of me, rid myself of the smile that was upon my face. I glanced at my phone: 8:00 AM, meaning I only had an hour until class started and I would have six classes today. I walked around the room to check everything out and get acquainted. Before I knew it, my first class came in; they were first graders. I smiled. They all came in with grins on their faces. I looked through the roster and there were fifty kids, which were two combined classes. I knew one thing. Attendance would take a while. I never had a class this large. The teacher that led them down here came to talk to me.

"I figured I'd introduce myself. I'm Madison Simpson."

"Hi. I'm Bella Leyton."

"So, what do you think of the school, so far?"

"It's outstanding. The last school I was at was smaller and had less students."

"That's great. Hey, I love your Penguins pen by the way."

"Thanks. I love hockey. Actually, I just got season tickets from Fleury yesterday."

"No."

"Yep."

"Awesome."

"Anyways, I'll let you get back to your class."

I began speaking to the class.

"Ok class, settle down."

They all quieted and I spoke again.

"I'm your music teacher, Miss. Leyton."

They cheered.

"You boys and girls will have lots of fun this year."

A chorus of yays emitted from every corner of the room. The day went by over so well that I giggled after I left the school. When I arrived home, I stepped out of the car and saw a car drive by my house and the driver looked very familiar. I turned back to the car and grabbed my messenger bag and purse and slung them over my shoulder. As I shut the door, I heard another one open. I looked again and saw Marc getting out of his car. I blushed. Why would he be here to see me? I'm just a elementary music teacher and he's a professional hockey player who is the goalie for the Pittsburgh Penguins. I decided to take out my phone, so it didn't look like I was practically staring at him as he walked towards me.

"Hey Bella."

"Hey, what's up?"

"I was just on my way home when I thought I would stop by."

"Cool. I just got home from work as you can see."

"You look beautiful by the way."

I blushed again.

"Thanks."

"Oh, you're welcome. How was your first day of school?" he laughed.

"It was great. The kids are so enthusiastic and I made a new friend, who just happens to love hockey."

"Really?"

"Yeah. I'll have someone to go with when I go to games."

"You seem excited."

"I am. My best friend hates hockey, so as you can very well imagine, I can't talk about it, which drives me crazy."

He laughed again.

"Yeah, that sucks. I'm glad that I don't have that problem."

I playfully rolled my eyes and punched him in the shoulder.

"Anyways, I was wondering if I could have your number?" he said as he looked towards the ground.

It was cute. I didn't know what to think. I haven't been asked that since my last relationship. I deeply sighed.

"Of course." I smiled.

He smiled that huge smile of his and handed me his phone and I gave him mine.

"Thanks."

"You're welcome."

My phone rang to the tune of Keeper by Yellowcard. It was Ally. Did she have to ruin this moment? Ugh.

"Aren't you going to answer that?"

"That's just Ally. I'll have to call her back soon though because if she gets my voicemail, she'll keep calling until I answer."

"I'll let you get to that."

"Ok."

I was kind of sad, to tell you the truth. He hugged me though, sensing that and I hugged back. This hug was different than yesterday, though. This one felt like it meant something.
We said our goodbyes and he said he'd call me later. Once he left, I made my way into the apartment and took off my agonizing heels. I called Ally, so she wouldn't have to call again.

"Hello?" she answered.

"Hey."

"Why didn't you answer your phone?!" she questioned.

"I was talking to a gorgeous guy."

"Oh. Whoops."

She was embarrassed.

"Who was this 'gorgeous guy'?"

"I'll tell you in a minute."

She groaned.

"Ok. How did your day go?"

"Great. The kids are so enthusiastic and I made a friend!"

"Is she cool?"

"Of course she is, but she's no you."

"Aww...thanks."

I laughed.

"That's amazing! Now, who was this guy you were talking about?"

"The same one I talked to yesterday."

"Oh my God! You talked to Marc?!"

"Yeah. He was on his way home and stopped in front of my apartment. He asked for my number."

She squealed. I knew that she was freaking out on the other end and knew that she was very happy for me.

"You gave him it, right?"

"Yeah and I got his."

"When are you seeing him next?"

"I don't know yet, but he said that he'd call me later; whether that's tonight or tomorrow, who knows."

"This is so exciting! I want to meet him!"

"You can. Just figure out when you can come out and I'll have to figure out his schedule."

"Ok. Yay!"

"And just to let you know, this isn't serious."

"Yeah, yeah...yet."

We talked for a few more minutes until I went to my room and was on the internet. I sighed, not because I was in over my head, but because I knew that this was going to be a roller-coaster ride.
