A Second Chance at Love

Two weeks had flown by. There was always a ton of people at the house. Raina was getting big. My favorite thing to do was watch her stomach move. It amazed me. She looked like she was ready to split into two.

She was being a good sport in all of this though. She was in a good mood almost every day and spent a lot of time with the boys hanging out. They taught her to play their favorite video games and came home and watched their hockey games on video with her.

She also occupied herself with reading and talking to friends on the phone and Skype. Megan and Pam were always over. They had even given up going to the games and watched them at home with Raina and the boys. Danielle was still here with us as well. She spent a lot of time with Andrej and I had learned to kind of accept it. He was definitely becoming a quiet fixture in our house.

I had practice today. I promised Raina we would spend the afternoon alone since the boys were at school. The playoffs were soon approaching and I knew it was going to get hectic. She had sent me to the rink with a gift for Mike. I knew what it was and couldn't wait to see his reaction. He was already out on the ice when I got there. I walked out towards him and handed him the box. He smiled broadly as he unwrapped his jersey with the word godfather in place of his name. "So do I get the little man or little girl?" he asked me.

"The little man bro, and if he don't play hockey as well as you by the time he is five I am firing you." I said laughing. Mike put the jersey on and the crowded laughed. He wore it the entire practice. I texted Raina a picture and she was happy it was a nice surprise for him. He had been stressed out lately. We had lost the last three games and the media was hitting us hard referring to last year.

Practice was rough, Lavy was annoyed at the game we had played against the Sabres and tried to kill us. The guys had been on me lately too. They liked ribbing me about the no sex clause in Raina's condition. Last week they had plastered porn pics all over my locker. I just laughed it off. Sometimes they acted like they were five years old. We hit the showers and Claude and I went to grab lunch.

"Today is Megan's birthday. So I'm gonna finally do it tonight Dan and I'm freaking out." he commented looking more like my son than my teammate.

"Wait, are you freaking out because you are scared to do it or scared because you don't think she will say yes?" I asked, really concerned. I didn't want him to do it because he felt like he had too.

"Nah, I just don't know if she will agree to it. I mean she has a lot of school left and our schedules are crazy." I felt for him.

He was nervous, but I knew she would say yes. "Just do it. She is gonna say yes. She wouldn't have moved here if she wouldn't." He seem to relax.

We left the diner and headed home. He went across the street and I wished him good luck. I walked into our house quietly. I wasn't sure if Raina was up or not. I could hear her talking on the phone quietly. "No Kris, now is a totally a bad time. Danny should be home from practice soon and I don't want him to know. I already spend way too much time on the phone with you when he isn't around. I don't want him to get suspicious."

I closed the door loudly and she got real quiet. I heard her said goodbye and I couldn't help but wonder what the hell was going on. Later on, when she was in the bathroom I look at her phone. Curiosity got the best of me and I couldn't help it. I looked under the recent calls and seen that "Kris" occupied 90 percent of them. I clicked on his entry and wasn't totally surprised to see a Pittsburgh area code.
