Hatred Makes the Heart Grow Fonder

"Wait...Sid?" I asked confused finally realizing it was him
"Yea it's me, you okay?"
"I guess...why are you here this isn't very professional is it" I laughed sitting up
"Yea well I don't think in this situation there's a line of professionalism"
"How did I get here?" I didn't remember a thing from the night before. All I remember is walking into the house and Mike punching me in the back of the head then nothing.
"You didn't show up for skate this morning so I went to your apartment and your friend was there so she told me where he lived and we found you" Sid explained
"Wait...my fried? You went to my house?"
"Yea Meghan I think her name is and I only went to your house to make sure you were alright which clearly you weren't" Sid said sounding offended
"Well you shouldn't have gone to my apartment I'm your trainer you're my client there's a line" I snipped at him
"Are you really acting like I did something wrong? I'm just trying to help"
"Yea well you can't help he found me just like he always said he would I'm done" I felt my throat begin to tighten and tears well up in my eyes
"He can't hurt you again okay?" Sid said pulling me into a hug. His arms wrapped around me so tight I felt safe for the first time in years I felt truly safe in his arms. His touch felt calm and loving when usual the touch of a man burns my skin his felt like something I never wanted to lose. I shook the thought from my head I can't fall for Sid or have any feelings for him he's my client I can't do this. I was broken from my thought when the door to my hospital room opened revealing Meghan.
"Knock, knock? You awake?" She asked walking in
"I'll give you two sometime" Sid said smiling and walking out of the room. Meghan ran over to me pulling me in for a hug and all I could do was cry. Composing myself after a moment I told her what had happened
"But you actually drove in a car with the hated Sidney Crosby?" I laughed wiping a tear away
"Hey if that doesn't prove how much I love you I don't know what will" She laughed making me smile in return. "So I took the next 2 weeks off and I'm staying here in Pittsburgh with you whether you lie it or not"
"Meg, I would love for you to stay but you can't take that much time off of work!"
"I can and I did all of the events are set for the rest of the season I have time to take for myself plus I want to spend time with my best friend!" Meghan and I continued talking about Philadelphia and my time in Pittsburgh. Sid came back in telling us he was heading out for a pregame nap and he would stop by my apartment after his game that night. The doctor came in a little later with my discharge papers. After signing them I was released and headed home.

“SO what’s the deal with you and Crosby? You’re not dating right? Because I don’t think I could be best friend’s with Crosby’s girlfriend!” Meghan said dramatically falling onto the couch next to me.
“Please we’re just friends nothing more” I told her
“Whatever you say….”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” I asked confused
“Nothing just that I’ve yet to meet a guy so concerned over a girl he didn’t have feelings for” Meghan shrugged
“Friends care! What about Kevin!”
“Pres we’ve known Kevin since high school that’s different you’ve only known him for what a month? And he’s already stopping by to check on you after a game? I promise I won’t say I told you so at the Crosby/Adams wedding!” Meghan said making me laugh. Sid and I were friends if we could even call it that. I honestly had no idea what to call our relationship but there were definitely no romantic feelings between the two of us that was for sure. Just then there was a knock on the door. Meghan got up to check who it was before slowly turning around with a smile on her face “Uhhh I think you should get it”
“What? Why?” I asked getting up and opening the door to reveal a smiling Sid with a bouquet of flowers in his hands.
“For you” He said handing them to me
“For me?”
“I know you said I couldn’t help but that’s not going to keep me from trying and showing you how you should be treated” I smiled and I could feel a blush creeping onto my cheeks. I heard Meghan snicker from the couch to herself
“Thank you Sid this really means a lot you have no idea” I said reaching out and giving him a hug. I went into the kitchen dropping the flowers into water as Sid stood awkwardly by the door. “You can sit down” I called out to him
“Sure I’m allowed to sit next to another Philly fan?” Sid laughed sitting next to Meghan
“I won’t bite I promise, let’s just not talk about hockey” Meghan smiled
“Probably a good idea” Sid laughed. I walked back into the living room sitting next to Sid
“So how are you feeling?” Sid asked throwing his arm over the back of the couch
“Eh alright pretty sore but I’ll be alright” I smiled weakly
“Well no one at Consol knows they just think you’re sick and Chris said take all the time that you need no need to hurry back just get better”
“I think it’ll be best if I get back sooner than later”
“I agree”

“So what are we feeling to watch?” Meghan said sorting through my move collection “I got it” She said pulling On the Waterfront out of the box making me smile.
“How did you know?” I asked
“How long have we been best friends?” She laughed putting in the movie
“What movie is this” Sid leaned into me asking
“It’s called On the Waterfront it’s my all time favorite movie 1953 Marlon Brando greatest movie ever made”
“Greatest movie, eh? I have high expectations then” Sid smiled leaning back watching the movie. Like always I sat back mouthing every word to the movie.
“I could’ve been somebody I coulda been a contender instead of a bum and let’s face it Charlie that’s what I am” I said right with the movie making Sid smile and shake his head.
“What?”
“You really know this movie word for word?”
“Told you!” As the movie started to end my eye lids getting heavier and heavier as I leaned over falling asleep on Sid’s shoulder.
