Hatred Makes the Heart Grow Fonder

I woke up the next day wrapped in Sis’s arms asleep on the couch. At first I was happily cuddled next to him until reality hit me and I jumped off the couch
“SID!”
“What? What is it? Are you alright?” He said falling off the couch half asleep
“You’re still here! You slept here?!”
“Oh shit, yea I guess I did” he smiled laying back down onto the couch “But there’s no practice today so no reason to be awake right now lay back down” He said closing his eyes and wrapping himself in the blanket
“No, you leave now!” I shouted pulling him off of the couch pushing him toward the door
“Presley! Pres!? What is wrong?” He said as he stopped walking toward the door and planting his feet so I couldn’t push him anymore
“This is so unprofessional and just wrong on so many levels, you’re the captain of the Penguins the team I currently work for I can’t be respected if I sleep with the captain!” I said trying to push him again
“Presley, if we were to date or do anything there’s no rule against it and no one would judge you it happens all the time!”
“Which is exactly the reason your team goes through trainers faster than paper towels, now if you could please leave”
“Really? You’re kicking me out?” He smirked reaching for the door handle
“Yes I am now leave! I appreciate everything you did for me but I didn’t ask you to do any of it” I regretted saying that as soon as it left my mouth
“Oh so you just expected me to not look for you and when I found you just leave you there to die?” Sid almost was shouting at me
“Well maybe if you left me to die it would have been the best on the both of us” I said looking down
“Presley don’t you ever say that! You’re perfect and….” Sid said but I cut him off quickly
“It’s not your job to convince me of my worth you’re not my boyfriend I’m nothing to you except your trainer now please Sid”
“You could be something to me if you just let me” Sid said grabbing his keys and heading out the door. I groaned and fell onto the couch as Meghan came walking from the hallway from the guest bedroom
“So…” She started sitting next to me “He’s in love with you”
“No he’s not I know his game he’s just looking for a quick lay, hit it and quit it I know the game they play I’ve gone out with them before to clubs I know how they operate I’m not about to be another notch on Crosby’s belt” I explained to her
“I don’t think that’s what he wants, a guy who just wants to get laid won’t go out of his way for a girl if you don’t want it he’ll move onto the next. He’s the captain of the the fucking Penguin if he wanted to get laid he could go to any club and have puck bunnies all over him in a second but he was here with you, he slept in a hospital for 12 hours waiting for you to wake up so he could make sure you were okay” Meghan explained and I felt my eyes filling with tears at her words
“Meg, I just can’t do it” I sobbed into her shoulder
“Not every guy is Mike you need to let someone in” She said rubbing my back “I know you, you have the exact same feelings for him the he has for you and that scares you to death doesn’t it?” She asked and I slowly nodded my head “I know NHL protocol and regulations and there’s really no written rule about a trainer and a player having a relationships you just need to be aware if it ends where that will leave you with the organization” I understood what she was saying but I knew what I needed to do too
“Come on, we have somewhere to be!” I said jumping up from the couch and pulling Meghan with me “Seriously, where are we going?” Meghan asked so confused as I drove across town to a small gym that was out of the way and if you didn’t know it was there you would have missed it. I pulled into the parking lot and jumping out motioning for Meghan to come with me. She followed still hesitant as to where we were going. We walked in and there was music playing and a few men scattered around the room lifting weights and working with personal trainers, but they were not who I was looking for until I spotted him in the back corner lifting with his headphones in. He was doing squats with the bar, his arms were flexed and you could see every outline of his biceps and triceps as he held onto the bar. I ran across the gym and stood behind him placing my hand on the small of his back
“You always do this! Stop rounding your back you’ll get better results if you keep a straight back” I told him as he dropped the bar from my startling him
“What are you doing here?” He asked moderately annoyed
“I didn’t know if you needed any help I am your trainer after all” I smiled
“I never asked for your help” He said repeating the words I told to him just that morning
“I actually I came because I hoped we could talk” I asked shyly. Sid looked down shifting on his feet before looking up at me with a weak smile
“I would like that” He said leaning close to my face making my heart race
“So would I” I smiled staying close to his face there were only inches between us
“Good” He cockily smirked “You know I could stay like this all day” I could hear the ego in his voice which I loved
“Could you now?” I asked as he leaned down further making the first move and connecting our lips. You know how they say when you find the one that you’ll feel fireworks when you kiss them? I never believed in the fire works or a perfect first kiss like in the movies but in this moment it was the most perfect kiss ever shared between two people. He wrapped his arms around my waist as I wrapped my arms around his shoulders and tangled my hands in his hair after a moment of being like that we heard someone clear their throat making us both remember we were still in public. I saw Meghan awkwardly standing there with a few of the other guys from the gym making Sid and I both laugh
“Let me finish my workout and we’ll go to lunch or something” He smiled pecking my lips quickly

I'm so sorry about taking so long to update! I'm in college so it's the end of the semester so I have like a ton of stuff so every day so it's crazy plus I have this massive Kinesology project due that's kicking my ass but I'll try and be more frequent!
