It's a Girl's Game

Chapter 9

The Junior Olympics 2006,
Helsinki, Finland
Ice hockey final, Finland vs. Sweden
“Common, common, get a hold of yourself,” Jamie muttered to herself.
“This is a lot of pressure for these young Finland kids. This is the first world tournament any of them have been in. Finland is a young team compared to Sweden. Sweden is the favorite to win Gold, Finland is really the underdog here. No one was expecting them to get this far, even though they are playing in their own country.”
“Alexsi! Pass the puck!” Jamie shouted, shadowing the Sweden blue line. She got the puck and started skating when she felt something run into her. Jamie lost her balance and when sliding into the boards, and she was very shaken up. She was slow to get up, but when she did her team had the puck in Sweden’s end.
“Olli! Here!” she shouted tapping her stick where she wanted the pass.
She took the one timer, which was gloved by the Sweden goalie for a whistle. Jamie won the face off and the puck went to her left-winger, Gordon. That was when she felt something hit the middle of her back. This caused her fall forward into the boards. It hurt, but she wasn’t telling anyone that.
“Jamie, are you OK?” Collin asked.
“I’m fine Col,” she said, “Just tell me who did this.”
“Filip Forsberg,” Rickard said coming to check on his captain.
“Lets go boys, we got game to win,” Jamie told them.
Finland ended up winning the game with a final score of Sweden 2, Finland 3. Jamie would be happy, but her head was killing her. Olli was the first person to notice, her coach was the second.
“Jamie? Are you OK?” her coach asked coming up to her after the game.
“I’m fine, I’m fine I-”
“Jamie wake up,” Sutter said shaking her a little bit.
“What?” she asked.
“We landed in Nashville,” he told her.
“Oh, OK.”
“You OK, you look pretty shaken.”
“Yeah, just fine.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The game was pretty uneventful. Everyone could see there was something between Jamie Jokinen and Filip Forsberg. There wasn’t a lot of goal scoring since Flower had a shutout.
“Alright spill it,” Olli said once he was able to corner Jamie.
“What, nothing is wrong,” she said.
“Really? Because it didn’t look like it tonight,” Olli told her.
“Listen to me Maatta, even if there was something wrong, what makes you think I would tell you,” Jamie snapped.
“It Forsberg, isn’t it?” Olli asked.
“No,” Jamie said, but to Olli was convinced
“Yes it is, what happened?”
“Remember when we played in the Junior Olympics and Forsberg took that cheap shot on me?”
“Yes.”
“The entire game I thought the same thing would happen. I was also a little scared during Juniors last season.”
“You’d be fine. You got a whole hockey team backing you up.”
“Thanks Oll, you a really good friend, my complete opposite, but a good friend.”

Notes

So this is a little bit of a fill in. I wanted to give a little about Jamie's background. Also you guys get to see a little of Olli and Jamie's relationship.
