It's a Girl's Game

Chapter 12 Jokinen v. Ovechkin

Jamie Jokinen was starting with Sidney Crosby and Chris Kunitz as the other forwards and Kris Letang and Christian Ehrhoff as the defensive pairing. The puck was just about to drop and everyone could tell this game was going to be interesting.

Ovechkin won the face off and it went back to Orpik. Before the game Jamie told everyone to stay away from Ovechkin, she’s got him. Jamie quickly found Ovechkin and stayed within 2 feet of him. The game was going pretty smoothly, until Adams took a hooking penalty.

“Martin, Letang, Sutter and Jokinen, get out there!” Johnston called.
“Sutter let me take the faceoff,” Jamie told Brandon as she skated by.
“OK, why?” he asked.
“Just trust me on this,” she told him.
“So, they’re sending the girl to do a man’s job,” Ovechkin said as he skated into take the faceoff.
“At least I can actually play defense,” she retorted.
“We’ll see, crier,” he said.
“Cake-eater,” Jamie said as the puck dropped.

“It seems Jokinen is staying close to Ovechkin. That’s good, he’s a dangerous player. The puck hits Niskanen’s skate and goes into the neutral zone. It’s a foot race between Jokinen and Niskanen. Jokinen wins it, it’s a break away chance for Jokinen.
She shoots … She scores. A short handed goal scored by Jamie Jokinen, unassisted.”

As Jamie skated by Ovechkin, she tapped her stick against his skate. It looked like a total accident, but Jamie and Ovechkin both knew it was on purpose. All Jamie was trying to do was get under the worst person she has every played against skin. It seemed to be working, too.

“You can’t do that,” Alex said.
“It was an accident Alexis,” Jamie said a smirk growing on her face.
“Listen, how would you like it if I did that to you, you probably going crying to the refs. That’s what you always do,” Ovechkin growled.
“Well you see here Alexis, remember last season’s Worlds? Where you elbowed me in the head twice, crosschecked me in the head 5 times and as soon as I touched you, you went crying to referees? You have no reason to calling me a crier when you can’t even take a hit,” Jamie told Alex with the biggest smile on her face.

“Listen here you bitch you are the one known for your crying, not me. I just don’t fight, but at least I can score a real goal,” Alex said.
“Lets go, unless you’re too scared!” Jamie yelled. She has been wanting to do this for the longest time.
“I’m tired of your face, you shouldn’t even be playing in the league, you’re going to get hurt since your so small,” Ovechkin yelled.

“It seems there is something going on between Jamie Jokinen and Alex Ovechkin. This started when Jokinen’s stick tapped Ovechkin’s skate. There has been some tension between these two the whole game. They look like they are about fight any second now.”

Jamie Jokinen has fought on many different occasions, but this was defiantly the most satisfying. It wasn’t much of a fight although; Ovechkin could have at least made it a little interesting. Jamie only got two punches in before Ovechkin hit the ice. This shifted the momentum in favor of the Penguins.

OVI SUCKS! OVI SUCKS! Started to be chanted through Consol Energy Center. It brought a smile to Jamie’s face hearing it, It also brought back memories of the 2013 World Championship games.

It was a goalie match from there on. Both goalies were strong and didn’t let one behind them. The game ended in a penguin win and a shutout by Marc Andre Fleury.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Jamie Jokinen does not belong in the NHL. She may be valued over in Finland, but she is going to get hurt. She can fight, but as soon as people over here see who she really is, well, lets just say the people of Pittsburgh will be running her back to Finland,” Alex Ovechkin said in a post game interview.

Everyone could tell he was bitter with the Capitals’ lost to the Penguins. What Alex Ovechkin didn’t know is that he just woke up a sleeping giant and the rest of the NHL was about to pay for it.
