It's a Girl's Game
Chapter 13
“Ovechkin is an idiot,” were the first word out of Christian Ehrhoff’s mouth the next morning.
“You’re telling me,” Geno agreed.
“I am going to murder that little son of a biscuit!” Jamie yelled, storming into the clubhouse.
“I think she heard what he said,” Downie said.
“Really?” Sid asked, but it was a rhetorical question.
“Nothing good can ever come from Jamie yelling,” Olli laughed coming into the clubhouse. Hey, he may be hurt but he is still a part of the team.
“You are so lucky you’re hurt Maatta,” Jamie growled which in return caused Olli to laugh.
“Alright kids, behave,” Kunitz said but he was laughing as well.
“He/she started it,” the two whined.
“Come on guys, focus. We have to get out there,” Sid said.
“Aye, aye captain Sid,” Jamie said, saluting him causing everyone to laugh.
“I’ve known her for 5 months and she still surprises me,” Sutter said.
“Just wait, it gets worst,” Olli told him.
After practice there were reporters in the clubhouse to take interviews just like after every practice. Most of them were gravitating towards Jamie’s locker. As soon as she saw that, she knew this was going to be rough.
“Jamie, what do you think of Alex Ovechkin calling you out and saying you won’t be able to stay in this league?” one of the many reporters asked her.
“It was his opinion, I don’t really have to comment on it. I learned along time ago that people’s opinions shouldn’t affect me. Besides I have quite a few opinions I would like to say, but a friend told me that I should keep them to myself,” she told them.
“So you’re saying you are not going to let him get under your skin?”
“Yes that is exactly what I am saying. I’m not going to start a verbal war with Mr. Ovechkin. We, the Pittsburgh Penguins, have games we need to win and if my mind is somewhere else, then I’m not doing my part to help the team,” she told them and was starting to get very annoyed with all their questions. To Jamie it almost seemed they were testing her to see how much crap they could say before she exploded and gave them a reason to say she didn’t belong in this league. It’s happened every time she played international hockey.
Thankfully the rest of the questions were how she felt the team was playing and not one about her personal life. Once the reporters left she made her way to the doors running into Sid.
“You know their just doing their job,” he said.
“I know,” she replied, “It just gets annoying after awhile."
“Come on, a couple of us are going out for some lunch. You want to come?” Sid asked.
“Sure, nothing better to do, who’s coming?” Jamie asked.
“Me-“
“No duh.”
“Let me finish. Me, Geno, Kuny, Tanger, and Flower.”
“Alright, lets get going. I’m starving!”
To Jamie the lunch was a nice way to relax after practice. She got to spend more time with people who didn’t annoy her as much as everyone else. All she really wanted was the game against the Chicago Blackhawks to get here faster.
Love it so much
