It's a Girl's Game

Chapter 14

In two days the game Jamie was waiting for would take place. She would be seeing two old friends again: Antti Raanta and Teuvo Teräväinen. She played with Antti in Assat in her rookie year and she played with Teuvo when Finland beat Sweden in the World Junior Championship final.
"Alright listen up we have a tough couple games!" Johnston called out in the locker room, "First we have a game against Philadelphia then we come back to Pittsburgh to play the Blackhawks."
"We need to work hard in the next practice we have," Sid said, "Everyone here knows the importance of these games. We have to show ourselves we can win these types of games. We have been struggling as of late, but we have a secret weapon to use against Chicago: Jamie."
"Yes, the people in the Blackhawks organization have only seen tapes of her, they don't know what she can do. Philly already knows what she is capable of," Mike Johnston said, following up what Crosby told the boys.
"Yeah, that is not exactly true," Jamie laughed, "I played with both Antti Raanta and Teuvo Teräväinen. Antti at Assat and Teuvo in Juniors when we kicked Sweden's dreams. IF Raanta is smart, which he is not, he would be telling the Blackhawks other goalie, Cory Crawford I think, everything about my skill set. Since Antti did take many shots of mine in practices. Also Teuvo might be telling the defenders every one of my little tricks."
"Why to damper the mood Jokinen!" Sutter called out, but he was laughing so all is well.
"It doesn't matter what they tell them, ask Tuukka Rask it doesn't change even if you do my shot. I quote from Rask 'Her shot changes every time I look it, I feel bad for the goalies in the Liiga'. You can ask him if he really said that," Jamie told the guys.
"Forget about that we got some Flyers to beat!" Fleury yelled causing cheers to erupt from everyone in the room.
The game was an overtime loss and Jamie was beyond mad. She was able to bite her lip to keep from making any rude remarks. Everyone on the Penguins knew she was mad and didn't want to get in her way.
The next day, the day they play the Blackhawks, she cooled down enough to go to lunch with some of the guys.
"Jamie, please don't kill anyone tonight," Kunitz said, "You looked like you were about to bust Rinaldo's head open last night.
"You have zero faith in me Kuny and I was about to drop kick that butt-nugget to Sweden," Jamie said still steaming a little.
"Trust me," Downie said, "I wouldn't have stopped you and I don't think any of the guys would have either. It's fun watching you beat up guys.
"Glad I entertain you gu-" Jamie was about to say when she felt a weight on her back and she crashed onto the snowy grass.
"Raanta! What are you doing!" Jonathan Toews yelled following up his goalie.
"He's seeing a friend," Teuvo laughed, "Hey Jamie."
"Hey Teuvo, can you get this bull off of me, we are not on speaking terms," Jamie said to the confusion of everyone but Teuvo.
"Get off of her Antti before she hits you and trust me it will hurt, a lot," he told his teammate.
"I know and what do mean we are not on speaking terms?" Antti questioned getting off of Jamie and helping her to her feet.
"Ter tell him he left me with all the idiots," she said.
"You know I can hear you and what do you mean I left you with all the idiots?"
"Dude you following any of this?" Patrick Kane leaned over and asked Sidney.
"Not a clue," Sid replied, " But I think Antti left Jamie when he came over to play in the NHL."
"OK."
"You, Ville and Karri Kivi left me at Assat with all of those monkeys!" Jamie yelled, "You left to come play in this garbage league!"
"Like you're any better!" Raanta yelled back, "You left the league you said you would never leave to play here!"
"Jay," Downie interrupted the shouting match, "Are you still upset about last night?"
"A little," she admitted.
"Hey, it's OK. Letang is fine, the Flyers are a dirty team," Fleury reassured her.
"Jamie," Antti said as soon as he realized what this was about, "Let me put it this way; if the Penguins are Finland then the Flyers are Slovakia."
"Oh that makes sense, you're still going down tonight though Raanta," she said.
"I'm not even playing," he told her.
"Why not, I want to embarrass you."
"Oh well."
"Antti we have to get going," Towes said.
"All right, talk to you later JJ," Antti said.
"Later Ant!" Jamie called then headed the opposite way.
