It's a Girl's Game
Chapter 15
So the game didn’t go exactly the way Jamie imagined it. The Penguins ended up losing in a shootout, but now the All Star break was upon the players. She got a break from hockey, not that she really wanted one.
“So what are going to do over this break?” Downie asked her. The two were walking with Kunitz, Hornqvist and Spaling.
“I don’t know, probably just hang out at my apartment, probably annoy Olli, I’m still mad at him,” she said.
“Why are you mad at him, he couldn’t have helped his shoulder,” Kunitz said.
“I’m mad because when he first hurt it I told him he should go see this doctor in Denmark, but he didn’t listen to me since apparently all my ideas are bad,” she told them.
“How do you this would be a good doctor?” Hornqvist asked.
“Because I went to him when I tore my bicep, he also cleared me to play in the Worlds when I had a partially torn bicep muscle,” Jamie said.
“Wait, you played with a partially torn muscle?” Nick Spaling asked.
“Yes, I think it happened in Juniors because I took a pretty hard hit into the boards, but who knows,” she shrugged.
“How?” were the only words out of Chris’s mouth.
“I have a very high pain tolerance,” she told them, “I grew up with 3 older brothers, I needed to learn how to take a hit.”
“So you brothers just hit you for no reason growing up?” Downie asked.
“Oh no, they probably had a reason. They just always did when my parents weren’t looking. Xander told me if I wanted to play with the boys I need to know how to take a hit,” Jamie laughed, “he wasn’t wrong, it really helped me in the long run.”
“Wow, I have to get going, see you guys later,” Chris said.
“I’ll meet up later,” Nick told the, heading off in the other direction.
“And then there were three,” Jamie said causing the other two to laugh.
“I don’t have anything planned,” Hornqvist said.
“Me neither.”
“I know what we could do!” Jamie said getting excited, “Lets go to that gym place thingy and play a game of basketball. I’m sure we could get some other guys to come.”
“Gym place thingy?”
“That sounds good.”
“GYM PLACE THINGY! What does that even mean?”
“Stevie, she means to the gym where the basketball court is,” Patric explained.
“Oh.”
“Yeah.”
“So I think Beau, Letang and Martin are coming,” Jamie interrupted.
“OK, lets get going there,” Patric said.
The rest of the All Star break was spent playing games with the guys who stayed in Pittsburgh.
